"That's not po-possible! I'm a quirkless" The words left the boy's mouth and Hawks immediately understood to an extent of what could have happened to the little boy.

The kid curled in on himself after a while, trying to make himself look smaller. The boy was trembling slightly, but the chirping of the birds continued to live around him, without him even realizing it.

The boy looked up at him, his emerald green eyes meeting his soft gold ones.

Keigo's heart hurts at the thought of how anyone could hurt such a precious child. Hawk has made up his mind; he is going to protect this child if it's the last thing he does.

Keigo realized that he had been too quiet for a while. Searching for something to say, Keigo said the first thing he could think of.

"You are mine now," Kaigo said, staring the kid in the eyes. "Okay, brain. What the fuck was that?" the boy stared up at him in confusion

"What? I don't… That's not how it works. What?" The boy looked down at his hands, confused. His brow furrowed together as he tried to figure out the meaning of his words.

"Sorry," Kaigo said. "I said the first thing that came to mind." The boy looked up at him, a small pout on his face.

The boy opened his mouth to respond, but was cut off by someone clearing their throat next to the door. both boys jump at the new voice.

"If you two are done, I have some questions," said Detectentive Tsukauchi Naomasa, sitting on a chair next to the door.

"Right... I forgot you were here," Kaigo said with a nervous laugh, looking away from the detective.

"Hello, Midoriya is it'?," Detective Tsukauchi Naomasa said with a smile. "I will be taking your statement today."

"Y-I-It's Izuku Midoriy," the kid stammered out, looking everywhere but at the detective. "W-Why are y-you ta-taking my sta-statement?" but the panic clear in his eyes

"Kid, you jumped off a building. You're lucky you manifested a quirk to stop yourself," Tsukauchi said with sadness clearly visible in his eyes.

~~~~~~
Izuku was confused as to why people kept saying he had a quirk; they were in a hospital, so they should know that he was just a quirkless, worthless Deku who shouldn't even be alive.
"Wow... Wow... Wow, kid, that's a really bad way of thinking," Kaigo said, his eyes wide with shock and an emotion Izuku couldn't identify.
"Is there anything that feels off to you?" the detective asked. Izuku tilted his head, considering the question before deciding to check himself.
Izuku moved his arms in a circular motion. "My arms are fine," he said. Then, he moved his legs side to side. "No pain there either." Finally, he flapped his wings a few times. "They're okay too."
Izuku paused as his thoughts fully registered in his mind.
"It seems he's finally figured it out," Hawks chuckled as he watched his fledgling register his new body part.
Izuku pinched himself to make sure that yep, this was not a dream. "What? Why? How? I'm dead," he thought, "that is the only reasonable explanation."
"Wow, kid, your thoughts go downhill fast," Hawks said, raising an eyebrow in slight amusement. And Izuku immediately shut his mouth with a loud click as he realized he had been saying his thoughts out loud.
"Okay, you two need to focus," the detective said with a fond smile on his face as they looked up at him.
"Now Midoriya, I'm going to ask you a few questions. Are you okay if I record this conversation?" the detective asked, looking at him.
"Yes, that's fine," Izuku said, looking up at the detective with a small smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
The detective had a sad smile as he pulled out a file and started the interrogation.
.
"This is Detective Tsukauchi Naomasa of the Musutafu Police Station. I am legally obligated to explain my Quirk." Tsukauchi was about to explain his Quirk when he was cut off.
"Human lie detector?" Midoriya asked, "Can you turn it on and off? Can it register a half-truth? Can-" He shut his mouth when he realized he had been muttering.
"Sorry," Izuku mumbled, looking down at his hands in shame, unaware of the worried looks that Hawks and the detective were sharing.
"Well, why don't we go back to the questions?" Hawks said, moving from the chair next to the bed to sit beside the boy.
Izuku gave a small nod, turning back towards the detective.
"Please state your name," Tsukauchi said, looking into the boy's eyes.
"Izu-Izuku Midoriya," he stuttered out the name, tasting it better on his tongue.
"Can you please explain what happened for you to try and kill yourself," the detective asked.
"Well, usually it's not that bad... but," Izuku went on about the school's treatment, his mother leaving him when he was six, and finally All Might.
~~~~~~

Kaigo sees red, red, red as the kid goes on about how he was treated throughout his life.

Kaigo looked back at the detective, his golden eyes holding a burning fire as he asked, "Detective Tsukauchi, is it possible for me to kill someone legally?"

"No, not that I know of." The detective pulled out his phone to indeed check if there was a legal way to kill someone while walking out the room.

When the door closed fully, Kaigo pulled the kid onto his lap with a tight hug. His red wings wrapped around the boy.

Izuku let's out a squeak, and Stephens but slowly melts into the warm embrace when Kaigo starts to rake his fingers through his feathers

Kaigo stopped raking his hands through the baby bird's wings when it fell asleep, and now that its blood is on them, he can see the color of the feathers.

These are beautiful mint green mixed with pastel blue and white tips. Their wings are as long as his arms when fully spread out.

The two stay there for at least one hours when Hawks starts to drift off both boys falling asleep in the warm embrace.
