Heroes.
A word once used to describe those with powers who fought for truth and justice in comic books which inspired many youths had now become a real profession when mysterious abilities called 'Quirks' manifested in humanity.
These Heroes were like superpowered police officers, working to protect the innocent, uphold the law, and serve the public trust. Now, that didn't mean actual police officers had become obsolete. There were still plenty of them around as well as firefighters, paramedics, and other rescue workers. In truth, Heroes came from anybody willing to do what was right.
However, there was no other place where Heroes were more prominent than in Japan, the land of the Rising Sun. On the soil was the most prestigious school for helping train young minds to become Heroes than UA High. Many of Japan's top Heroes today came from there, such as the Flame Hero: Endeavor, the Ninja Hero: Edgeshot, and most important of all; the Symbol of Peace and Japan's #1 Hero; All-Might.
Yet despite all these fantastic Heroes keeping the peace, there were two heroes whose powers were so great, they preferred to stay on the down-low. Despite this, they were still revered by many all the same.
They were Hisashi and Inko Midoriya.
DEVIL
Hisashi Midoriya appeared to be a normal boy; adopted into his family after being found abandoned on their doorstep. A sad start that was sadly still common in the age of Quirks. Then again, considering who adopted him, maybe he never was that 'normal' anyways:
Garp and Tsuru Midoriya were a successful and happily married couple who had met through their work in the Navy.
Garp's freakish strength had led to many telling him to be a hero, but he preferred to travel as he helped, rather than stay stationed in one location, so he joined the Navy. He quickly proved to be a competent leader, teacher and amassed an enormous arrest count
Tsuru 'The Cleaner' was considered to be on par with Nedzu or an I-Island scientist in terms of intellect, but she forwarded her mind towards psychology and stratagey. With her own Quirk 'Wash', which enabled her to 'clean' evil away, she was also a formidable opponent and a record reformer not only in the Marines, but abroad.
They were an odd couple, many noted, the boisterous brawler and calm, methodical planner. But Garp made Tsuru laugh and Tsuru saw that behind Garp's monstrous strength was a heart kinder than many and a devotion to justice many heroes WISHED they had.
So when they found the baby on the doorstep after being told they couldn't have children, they happily took him in.
It wasn't until he was four that it became clear that the little boy was more than he appeared. On that day, he showed that he could fly. At first, this was a monumental; and celebrated affair…until he sneezed out fire. And then….
XXXX
"HAHAHAHAHAHAAA! that's my boy!"
"Garp, Hisashi just LIFTED HQ!" His god friend Sengoku, AKA the Buddha hero Daibetsu shrieked in a mix of horror and shock.
"I wanted my teddy." Hisashi said, holding said teddy close to his chest as he hid behind his mother.
"He wanted his teddy." Tsuru replied.
XXXX
The boy's unnatural powers (no Quirk factor in his DNA was ever found) but natural skills under his parents training allowed him to blend in as a Hero Student at UA, where he became best friends with Toshinori Yagi.
Toshinori was part of the 20% of Earth's population that did not have Quirks yet he had caught the eye of Nana Shimura, the Gallant Hero: Nimbus, and inherited a sacred power that she was carrying, [One For All]. Being his best friend, Hisashi was also entrusted with the knowledge of this power.
It was through Nana that Hisashi also met the woman that would become his wife; Inko Shimura.
XXXX
"So, you're the guy Toshi told me about, eh?" Nana Shimura, AKA Nimbus smirked, giving him a look over. He did seem...odd in some way, but not too bad.
Hisashi had stood firm at attention until he saw...
"Why is there a floating Bent-o?"
All turned to see a floating Bent-o...and someone else
She was a beautiful girl, obviously Nana's daughter with the same face and hair. She wasn't as musuclar as her mother, but teh fact she was floating while surrounded by electrcity showed she was indeed very powerfuil
"Mama, please stop forgetting your lunch." The girl sighed as the Bent-o plopped intyo Nana's hands. Inko then smiled at Toshinori. "I fixed up the rooms, so PLEASE tell uncle Sorahiko to go easy on you."
"I WISH HE WOULD!" Toshinori wailed, getting into a fetal postion and sucking his thumb at the memories.
Nana sighed.
"Sorahiko, I swear...!" She then saw that Hisashi was, while still standing tall, awestuck. She smirked. "Inko, sweetheart? You haven't met Hisashi yet, have you?"
Inko finally saw the other boy and instantly lost her composure; her electricity vanished and she would've fell in Hisashi hadn't caught her.
"...Hi." The boy managed.
"...Hi." Inko replied.
XXXX
Inko was a kind, demure girl with a powerful Quirk which allowed her to manipulate the Four Fundamental Forces of Nature; Gravity, Electromagnetism, and the Strong and Weak Nuclear Forces.
Sadly, in their third and final year as students at UA, tragedy struck; Inko's father was murdered in cold blood by a powerful Villain. Fearing for the safety of her children, Nana put Inko and her son, Kotaro, up for adoption. The Midoriya Clan was more than willing to take both children in for their protection.
Confronting the Villain responsible, Nana gave her life to allow Toshinori, Hisashi, Inko, and their classmates to escape safely. There came a period of mourning, during which some good came from the pain: Inko and Hisashi fell in love, much to the delight of many:
Garp and Tsuru for the fact their son would have a reason to always come back and Toshi for his best friend finding someone who could not only challenge him but was kind and comforting. Inko's best friend Mitsuki, while she and Hisashi frequently disagreed oin many things, appreciated Hisashi saw Inko for Inko and not her OP Quirk.
The only person who DIDN'T approve was Kotaro, who though Hisashi was shaping up to be no different than his parents and dragging Inko down with him. Still, he held his peace when he saw how happy Inko was..until they graduated from UA, where angry and believing that his family gave up or where willing to give up their lives for a senseless cause, broke off to live on his own when he came of age.
He never even attended Inko and Hisashi's wedding, despite her taking every chance to connect with him. The Midoriya clan never forgot this, but prayed that one day Kotaro and his family would come around.
Sad sadness was soon alleviated by the wonderous reveal that Inko was expecting and five years after Kotaro walked away, the Midoirya clan was joined by the two daughters of Hisashi and Inko: Tatsumaki and three years later, Fubuki Midoriya.
Both ended up inheriting the same Quirk; [Psychokinesis], which gave them powerful psychic abilities. Both of them wanted to be Pro Heroes just like their parents and "Uncle Might".
When Tatsumaki was 5 years old and Fubuki was no more than 2, Hisashi and Inko gave birth to their third and final child; a beautiful baby boy named Izuku.
It was through their son that the foundations of Japan would change; a new Hero would rise and he would be the guiding path to a new age...
DEVIL
"Come on, come on! Its starting!" 4 year old Izuku said as he pulled his sisters to the TV.
"Okay, Izu! Okay!" Fubuki giggled.
"This better be good." Tatsyu groaned. "I got homework."
Izuku turned on the TV and the girls immedatelky saw what was going on:
It was a special 100th year anniversary for the occupation of 'Hero', and their parents, the Virtuous Hero: Omni-Man and the Fundamental Hero: Quatro, where the guests of honor alongside their beloved uncle All Might.
The hero couple and their lifelong friend were all smiles and waves, while the #4 herop Endeavour was curt and to the point and the #5, an older hero called Yoroi, simply bowed at the praise.
Questions were asked and answers given, mostly about All Might's mysterious Quirk and the rumors that Omni-Man and Quatro were spearheading space exploration ventures with their fellow Pro Thirteen. Suddenly, an explosion not too far away erupted and the Big 4 leapt into action.
The camera's followed as Quatro levitating or rusted away debris and healed the civilains she could find, while Omni and All Might saved all they could find and Endeavour put out the flames.
There was not a single casualty.
"Mom and Dad are so cool! And so is Uncle Toshi!" Izuku cheered as Tatsumaki chuckled and used her Quirk to settle her little brother.
"Jeez, calm down Little Bro."
"But Tatsu-Nee! I wanna be just as cool and awesome as they are when I grow up!" Izuku pouted as Fubuki giggled.
"You're not gonna crush our cute little brothers' dreams, are ya sis?"
Tatsumaki took one look at Izuku's big round emerald eyes and did her best not to cave in...her record was 0.0000001 seconds.
"Alright, fine! I'm sure you'll be an awesome Pro Hero when you grow up!"
Izuku cheered happily as his older sisters smiled lovingly at him. When push came to shove, they'd move Heaven and Earth for him. The same could said for their parents. Speaking of which...
"Hey kids, we're home~!"
Hisashi and Inko, still in their Hero Costumes, came into the house.
"Mommy! Daddy!" Izuku beamed as he raced towards them.
The children rushed to their side, giving them hugs and kisses. Izuku was so lucky to have such an amazing family and he was sure that when his Quirk came in, he'd be just as amazing as them...
DEVIL
"Sorry, it's not happening."
Until it didn't happen.
For some reason, despite all the power in his family? Izuku was not going to get a Qurik. The revelation silenced the happy boy and his sisters, his parents trying to find some kind of reason for this….
The family spent the rest of the night crying their eyes out before eventually going to sleep in a cuddle pile in Inko and Hisashi's bedroom.
DEVIL
Izuku sadly trudged with his mom as they were out shopping the next day. As Inko got distracted talking with one of her old classmates from Junior High while picking out some fruits at the market, Izuku noticed an elderly man running a fruit stall, with a strange fruit being placed up and center.
The fruit was unlike anything Izuku had seen; it was shaped like a melon but it had multiple spiral markings on it and was splashed with all the colors of the rainbow, which seemed to be shifting and changing like water.
"Interested?" the old man at the til asked, startling the boy.
"Um, yeah…what is it?" Izuku asked.
"A very special fruit; found deep at the bottom the sea by that Selike hero, an old buddy of mine. Rumored to grant however eats even one bite of it an amazing power….And if you want it, it's free!"
Now Izuku, while being only four, was not dumb. This whole thing seemed…fishy.
"Why're you offering me?" He asked.
"Cause, your sad look aside, I see a spark in ya, kid." The Old man beamed. "A spark that'll shake things up. That and, well, you don't live to my age in these crazy times and not care a wee bit about kids who're looking down."
Izuku gave the fruit another look. Honestly, it looked too pretty to eat. And yeah, this was probably a prank, but…
"Thank you." Izuku said as he took the fruit and smiled at the old man, who smiled back and gave a tip of his hat.
The boy turned around and took a big bite out of the fruit….
CHOMP!
GULP!
GURGLE!
HACK!
BLECH!
And immediately regretted it; that was AWFUL!
"Izuku? Izuku, where are..? There you are!" Inko called off, hugging her son. "Sweetie, why'd you wander off…and where did you get that….what even is that?"
"I don't know mommy." Izuku admitted. "I got from that…"
The stall and the old man where gone.
"…Huh? But he was right there!"
Inko picked up the fruit and gave it a once over. Nothing toxic or plastic…all organic. She saved a piece before rotting the rest and picking up her son in search of something proper to eat.
Unknown to the two of them, the old man watched the whole scene unfold from a wall not too far away.
"You're gonna do great things, kiddo. You have the will of a warrior inside you now...and that power is gonna make you the greatest Hero ever." The old man's voice spoke from nowhere in a reassuring tone.
DEVIL
A few days later, Izuku didn't feel all that much different from eating the fruit…physically at least.
Mentally though? He was wondering if that fruit was like that funny juice or poweder that made people see things:
Where once he dreamed about heroes and helping save people in disasters, he Izuku now dreamt about men and women using extraordinary powers not unlike Quirks called Devil Fruits; good and evil, wrong and right, all incredible…and some even just downright silly.
Still, they made these Devil Fruit powers work.
"The wills of all those men and women have been passed down to him to make his own." The old man's voice would reverberate throughout all those images.
XXXX
Currently, Izuku was shaking as he stood in front of a crying boy who was being bullied by Katsuki Bakugou, the son of his mother's best friend, Mitsuki.
"Why you gotta defend that loser, Deku? We're just teaching him who's boss around here!" Katsuki gruffly said, backed up by two other boys.
"He didn't deserve what you did to him, Kaachan!" Izuku snapped, despite the fear in his eyes. "Nobody should be bullied like that!"
"Just get out of the way, ya loser! You can't protect him without a Quirk!" One of the other two boys snidely said.
"No! You three are acting no better than Villains! This isn't how Heroes act at all!" Izuku snapped.
That ticked Katsuki off. Ever since his Quirk, [Explosion], came in, he was determined to become the best Hero since All-Might. To hear Izuku say those words did a wound to his ego.
"THAT'S IT, YOU'RE DEAD DEKU!"
Katsuki rushed forward and threw an explosion at Izuku, who closed his eyes and crossed his arms in front of himself to block most of the blast.
However, as he did this, Izuku suddenly heard an unfamiliar voice, followed by a scene from one of his dreams of a man with sharp teeth, a gold nose ring, and wild funky green hair crossing his arms and erecting a clear barrier in front of himself.
"People can create barriers by crossing their fingers!"
Izuku mimicked the man's motions and time seemed to resume around him as Katsuki's explosion made contact, but not with him.
Instead, a giant clear rectangular barrier had formed and reflected the blonde's attack. Katsuki had been knocked back, flat on his ass, and looking absolutely stunned at what just happened. Izuku turned to the boy he was defending and nodded for him to flee, which he did.
"What the heck?! When could Deku do that?!" One of the two boys accompanying Katsuki asked in confusion.
"Yeah he did!"
They all turned to see a little girl about their age with orange hair walking towards Izuku.
"And who're you?" Katsuki snarled as he got back to his feet.
"Just a girl passing through." The girl responded. "And someone who doesn't like bullies."
She then entered a stance beside Izuku, shooting him a smile.
"I can take it from here." She said as the other two boys leapt at her. Izuku moved to help her, but the girl's fist suddenly grew and sent another boy flying while she spun around and kicked the other away, leaving Katsuki alone and glaring at the two.
Izuku, on the other hand?
'Whoa. She's strong! Like mommy and nee-chans!'
"ITSUKA KENDO!"
The girl paused when she saw an old man suddenly appear behind her and Izuku, his eyes firm and disappointed…before turning into a warm smile and messing with her hair.
"While it is noble to aid those who aid others, its not fair for you to use our school's ways like that."
"…Sorry, grandpa." The girl, now named Itsuka, frowned.
Her grandfather patted her head and then smiled at Izuku.
"thank you, young man." He said.
Izuku lowered his arms, the barrier disappearing as the commotion alerted their parents. Katsuki's cronies tried to pin the blame on Izuku, but one nasty look from Mitsuki and they immediately came clean.
"I'm so sorry about this, Mitsuki..." Inko sighed as Mitsuki gave her friend a reassuring nod.
"Relax, Inko. Little Izu did the right thing. I'll take care of this brat of mine….You think you can bully others just cause you got a cool quirk?" Mitsuki asked, reaching behind her and revealing a belt.
"No, old hag! Noooooooo!" Katsuki screamed as he was pulled away.
Inko shook her head. Sometimes, she wished her best friend could be less harsh on her son, it certainly didn't help he got his explosive temper from her.
"Mommy..." Izuku said as Inko looked at him. "I think... I think I got my Quirk!"
DEVIL
The next day Izuku, Inko, Hisashi, Tatsumaki, and Fubuki visited the Quirk Doctor again.
"Eat your heart out, old man!" Tatsumaki smirked. "Our baby bro can do all that!"
"Tatsu, be nice to the good doctor." Hisashi sighed, smirking as he recorded the whole thing and sent it to his cackling father. "We DID mention my father is Quirkless, right?"
The doctor, one of the few people who knew the truth of what Hisashi was, ran some tests and finally answered:
"His…Ability…abilities…they're unlike a Quirk and cannot be diagnosed as such!"
"So what can you say about this, Doc?" Tatsumaki asked.
"Not much, I'm afraid. This is a new kind of phenomenon entirely. It's like...millions of Quirks packed into one and stored inside him."
Hisashi looked worried. "Can you explain?"
"Well, you, Hisashi, basically had five Quirks: flight, flame breath, super-regeneration, Muscle memory and Negation. Izuku, in contrast…well, I think it's best if I showed you some screens we took of what the boy is capable of doing now."
The doctor brought up a screen and the Midoriya family watched in awe as they saw various different powers being shown. One showed a man transforming into a giant gold Daibatsu, another showed a man coating himself in purple poison, and one more showed a man manipulating space within a bubble to perform surgical-like feats.
"Whoa..." Izuku said in wonder. He was able to do all that?
"What's more, from scans of the child's brain, he seems to have a basic understanding of how each and every one of the powers stored within work. How he can learn to incorporate these powers and improve them is on him to learn." The Doctor said.
Izuku hadn't been listening, being to happy to HAVE a power.
DEVIL
"HAHAHAHA! I AM HERE, SURPRISING MY PRECIOUS GODCHILDREN AND DEAR FRIENDS!"
There he was; the #1 Hero, the symbol of peace..
"Uncle Toshi!" the kids all beamed as they raced to him, hugging him.
"MY, MY YOU'RE ALL GETTING SO BIG…..WELL, EXCEPT YOU TATSUMAKI, YOU'RE STILL SMALL."
"Letting that one slide!" The shorter Midoriya child growled.
"Uncle Toshi! Uncle Toshi!" Izuku beamed. "I got a million different Quriks!"
Thuis boith shocked and didn't shock the pro, who looked to his best friend.
"Is it because of…?"
"Probably?" Hisashi shrugged, then spying Inko's attention was elsewhere.
"Hello again, Hisashi." Principal Nedzu of UA smiled as he and Inko finished shaking hands. "Glad to see you're doing so well."
"Nedzu-sensei." Hisashi beamed. "I take it this is about my kids?"
Nedzu nodded
"That and to introduce you to an old face."
The old man from the park and Kendo suddenly appeared, smiling warmly.
"Hi!" Itsuka waved to Izuku, who leapt out of his uncle's arms to chat with his friend.
"Bang-Sensei!" Hisahi and Inko both beamed, receiving a smiling bow
"Hello again, you two. I'm happy to see marriage and parenthood is treating you well. Itsuka and I were just about to grab dinner, would you like to join us?"
It was a fun night for all.
And also the last 'normal night.'
Knightmare Lord A/N:
For eons, I've tried making my own Devil Fruit-powered Izuku story but none of them stuck. Now I've got Heroism is Magic and while it's going steady, I missed the old days.
So, since Mrotrax is much better at keeping stories and not deleting them when he's unsatisfied, I've decided to start a new story with him starring Izuku gaining the powers of the Devil Fruits and becoming the world's greatest hero along with his friends and family by his side.
In this story, Hisashi is indeed an alien similar to a Kryptonian or Viltrumite. He has the brutal combat efficiency and experience of Nolan Grayson (as well as his moniker of Omni-Man) and the heroic compassion and heart of Mark Grayson AKA Invincible.
Inko is kind of a mix of Atom Eve, Magneto, and Jean Grey. Tatsumaki and Fubuki from One-Punch Man are Inko and Hisashi's children as well as Izuku's big sisters.
Expect Crossovers, Shenanigans, and OP-ness as Izuku and his friends take the world by storm! Now I leave Mrotrax to finish things up!
Mrotrax
Hope you liked mine and Knightmare Lord's latest co-op project.
There was initially Far, FAR more planned in this chapter. But I think that it's a good idea to split it, just to prevent overwhelming all the readers. Warning; next chapter will be DARKER! Not Sanctuary levels of dark, mind you, just…just be prepared; the next chapter will not be safe for work.
Now, this story will NOT be going the regular way a BNHA fic does; while UA will still be important, Izuku will not actually be a student there. I won't say anymore than this; he's going on a different journey to heroism this time around.
Also, sorry IzuOcha shippers. Please don't mistake us, we adore the two cinnamon rolls of Class 1A together, but KL felt like shaping things up a bit. Plus, not going to lie, I feel Kendo is severely underutilized in fics.
I hope you like it and come back for more!
Stay safe and warm out there!
