Author's Note: Good god, I realized that Jaden's name doesnt have a Y. Please excuse the prologue at how I spelled his name "Jayden." ; My bad
After some time, about a day or two, Syrus was allowed to leave the Infirmary and return to classes. Now, he was hanging with Jaden and Jessie, walking to the entrance.
"Ugh, why does he give out soo much homework.." Jaden groaned, causing the two to chuckle. "I feel you, Jaden. But, ya win some, ya lose some." Jessie said, hoping to lift the brunette's spirits.
"Yeah, yeah.. I know, but.. Uuuugh.."
"Don't sweat it, Jay! I'll help you out with homework." Syrus said with a smile. He always had less trouble with studying than Jaden, at least. Even though he personally doesn't enjoy it.
"Oh, I'll join in then! It'll make studying actually fun for a change!" Jessie laughed, as the others joined in.
Syrus gasped when he turned to look at Jessie, staring at him with wide eyes.
Or.. Well, not at Jessie. Moreso at the duel spirit on Jessie's shoulder. Ruby Carbunkle purred at his owner, then glances at Syrus.
They stare at eachother, with Ruby Carbunkle tilting it's head. Aww, that was so cute!
"Uh, Sy?" Jaden's words snapped him out of his trance. "You good, bud? You were kinda staring at Jess there."
"U-Uh, yeah!!" He smiled. "Sorry, was just.. Thinking!" He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his head. "Uh, Jessie your deck is..?"
Jessie smiled brightly. "Well, if that's what you wanna know, why didn't you say so!" He chuckled. "It's Crystal Beast! Here, I'll show ya!" Thus, the gang sat down on the grass, while Jessie introduced his cards to the group. Jaden was intrigued, as he hasn't seen a deck like that before. Syrus was listening.
He had to. He had to keep cool. Don't worry about the fact that he can see them. There's nothing to worry about. Yep.
"W-Wow, what a powerful card." He stuttered, causing Jessie to smile. "Rainbow Dragon? It sure is! Though, it can only be special summoned if all the crystal beast are on the field or graveyard."
"Woah, what a summon." Jaden commented. It requires all of them to be involed, like some prophecy or something!
"Yeah.." Syrus stares at the card, hoping to keep his eyes away from Carbunkle.
From Rainbow Dragon. He feels like they're finding him suspicious in how's he's acting. Which is bad, he really doesn't know how to explain what's going on if Jessie wanted answers.
Then, they heard footsteps. The gang turned to see who it was, but Syrus noticed the glare Jaden has. He knew who it was.
He gulped, before turning to see him walk past.
Zane.
His brother, who almost shocked him to death.
Syrus almost flinched when he passed, but then he was shocked. He can feel how saddened Cyber End Dragon was. But, also..
He saw it again. Cyberdark Keel came out from the deck and looked at him. It made some weird, mechanical chirp before having to go back into the deck.
Syrus blinked. It's almost like it wanted to talk to him. Urging him to follow. Yet, he turned to Jaden and Jessie. Jaden'seyes narrowed at Zane. Or, his deck. He can see Winged Kuriboh chatting to him. Jessie looked confused as he had glanced at him a few times. Did he catch that exchange?
"Uh, hey Jay?"
"Yeah?" The brunette's gaze turned cheerful when turning his attention to Syrus. "What about the Society of Light? Shouldn't you be careful of those guys? You uh, didn't have to wait for me to wake up, I wasn't going anywhere!"
Jaden blinked, before smiling. "Aww, there's no need to worry! I can take them! Besides, you looked pretty bad back there.. I just wanted to make sure that you're actually okay."
Syrus smiled warmly, before turning to where Zane left. Hmm...
Maybe, he should go talk to it?
"Say, guys? I gotta uh.. Go to the bathroom! See ya later?"
"Of course! we can meet up in the Cafeteria!" Jaden beamed as Jessie nods.
"Besides, Jaden still needs to give me that tour around the school."
"Jaden, you gotta show him around!"
"Okay, okay!! I'm getting there!"
They share a laugh before Syrus runs off to find Zane. Or, mostly Cyberdark Keel.
He heard beeping and turns around, seeing UFORoid hovering beside him. He looked a bit wary of where they're going.
"Uh.. It's okay! We're just gonna follow him!" Syrus said to the monster nervously. Ah, this will take some getting used to. He can see Duel Spirits! Talk to them, and understand them! Yet, he still doesn't know the cause of this. He didn't get electrocuted that bad, right?
Right?
He shook that thought out, before running off to follow Zane. He tried to make sure to make as little noise as possible, not wanting his brother to notice that he was being followed. Though everytime he thought he got caught, it was always a false alarm. Now that he was able to see Duel spirits, It's shocking how many were out talking to others. How they gossip about recent events, or even speaking of what class their owners were at before. He wonders if his own cards have talked to Jaden's Elemental Heroes, or Hassleberry's Dinosaurs.
One voice then popped from the rest, right beside Syrus.
It's nice to see you again..
That sound of whispering metal. There's no doubt, it's Cyberdark Keel. The monster came to him, slithering over as it watches him with with it's orb-like eye. Syrus felt intimidated, seeing how tall it was. Even if he technically already faced it in battle before, it doesn't make it easier.
Rest assured, I don't want to hurt you...
The blue haired boy tilts his head a bit, perplexed. If not that, then what? "Uh... So.."
There's no stalling now, he has to ask.
"Uh, Cyberdark Keel.. Back in the infirmary, I woke up to see you beside me. Was that really you?"
The monster nods at his question.
"Why? I mean, don't you belong with Zane? He's the one who has the deck your in, after all.."
Maybe.. But.. Now, I'm not so sure..
Syrus blinked. What? Really? He isn't sure how Duel Spirits would have a choice of who they want to go with. Does that mean some are probably with duelist they don't like? Does that effect dueling as well?
Yeesh, it kinda makes being a duel monster pretty limiting since they have no choice on who they would rather be with.
We have alot more power than you think to make up for that.
OH. "S-Sorry! I just, uh-!" Syrus stuttered as Cyberdark Keel hissed in spurts. Was it laughing?
It's fine. I can tell you're very curious about all this.
Syrus nods. "Y-Yeah, it's kinda new to me-"
"Who are you talking to, Slacker?"
He almost leaped 50ft into the air when Chazz had spoken to him behind with that prickly attitude. Geez, how long has he been there?!
"C-Chazz?! What are you doing here?!" He yelped, stepping away from him in shock.
Ha! Boss, you sure scared him!
It sounds like he was doing something pretty shady, heheheh!!
Syrus blinked at the Ojamas talking to Chazz, eyes wide before a thought entered. Oh, Cyberdark Keel-
It was gone. And, so was Zane. Oh..
"Slacker, hey!" Chazz huffed. "What, did you hit your head?? Also, what are you doing in the bushes like some creep?"
"N-Nothing!" Syrus blurted out, standing up straight. "Just, uh.. Wanted to make sure my brother wasn't doing anything bad! Uh, gotta go!!" Thus, he took off running.
"Tch.." Chazz rolled his eyes. What a weird guy..
Hey, you guys saw that, right? The weird worm??
Worm?? Ha! I think Yellow has lost their mind, Boss!
Oh, you shut up!!
Ugh, they're being so buggy today..
But, he can't help but think of Yellow Ojama's words. Worm.. That was no worm, that's for sure..
