A/N: Thank you for the kind reviews!! I'm very glad you guys enjoy it so far! Here's chapter three

The next day, Syrus was in his dormroom. He was sitting on his bed, holding the powerbond card as the blanket shielded his body. Yesterday's conversation hung heavily over his head as he was lost in thought. It was actually quite early. Too early, some would say. 4 AM. He didn't have the ability to sleep well, and when he was beginning to, he would be snapped awake.

He had another dream. It was that duel again. He felt such terrible pain as he was electrocuted over and over. Yet, Zane in that dream wasn't like now. He was like himself. Even when his nerves were breaking apart every time the collars activated, he can hear the old Zane.

"You proved me wrong. You do belong here."

What's with you?

His thoughts echoed. His brother hurts him in ways that'll leave scars for a lifetime, yet those moments keep him from giving up. He can't give up on him. But, what if...

Syrus shut his eyes tight, trying not to cry. Zane didn't care for what he did. He didn't think anything of it. Some people would ask, "Then, why do you care about him?"

He'd probably sound so stupid if he tries to explain. He already looks pretty pathetic, still chasing after him like an abandoned dog following the owner who kicked it out. But, He can't just leave Zane be. Why?

He.. He doesn't know. He just can't let go of him. His family.

"What was wrong?" What Zane said in that dream was so sincere. So earnest and full of concern, it made him remember the brother who risked the world for him. Yet, he couldn't answer.

He wished it was easier to say "Screw him."

He wished Zane was a bad person.

But.. Now, Syrus just feels like one for wanting that.

Why is he so.. Helpless? So useless..?

4:37 AM.

Sitting here is just depressing. But, what else should he do..?

He hears UFOroid pop out, beeping in concern. He didn't need to hear it's words to know that it's worried.

"I'm okay.." Syrus smiled, even though it looked pretty pathetic. "I'm just.. Sad, that's all.."

UFOroid hovered next to him, wanting to comfort the blue haired boy. "Aww, thanks.. But, I'll be fine." Syrus chuckled quietly. He has to be. He needs to be. Well, especially now with the Society of Light around the school. Also, who's gonna watch over Zane?

And Cyberdark Keel?

He sighed, beginning to miss the duel spirit. He wished Keel was here right now. Maybe, Keel can reassure him that they can get Zane back? Keel can even give him advice on how to go about it. It knows what Zane's been up to, after all.

Is.. Is Keel alright?

Syrus heard UFOroid beep, encouraging him to take a walk. Well, it's not like he can sleep anyway.. A walk wouldn't hurt.

Thus, Syrus gets ready to leave his empty dormroom.

Syrus began wandering absently around the forest, not having a particular destination in mind. He's just been listening to UFOroid. The two have been chatting a bit, as it spinned happily. Syrus giggled, not wanting to awaken other students. Much less the Society of Light.

"Hey, UFOroid?"

It beeped in question.

"Do you think Alexis is okay?" Syrus asked in worry. It hummed in thought, unsure. They haven't seen Alexis that much lately. He knows everyone's worried, especially Atticus. He's kinda been a wreck.

UFOroid beeped and he nodded with a smile. "Right.. We'll get them back!" They will! Everything will be okay..

Yet, there was doubt. He heard that the Society of Light is growing more and more. He sees so many members at school, it frightens him. They also tried to target Hassleberry. (But, failed.)

They just got Chazz back. But, Bastion and Alexis are still there...

What are they going to do..?

You're awake quite early..

Syrus yelped as he jumps away from the source, only to feel relief when he realized who it was. "Keel! You scared me, heheh.." He giggled awkwardly, before smiling. "And yeah, uh.. Couldn't sleep."

He said sheepishly.

Was it because of what we spoke about before..?

"No! Well, I mean..." The Ra Yellow duelist felt his smile waver. "M-Maybe.. But, it isn't you! It's just.. You know.."

Cyberdark Keel nods.

Yes... I understand.

"B-But, don't worry! It was just some weird dreams, it'll be fine!" He smiled as Keel leaned in to nuzzle his cheek, causing him to laugh a bit. Syrus instinctively pats it's head, but blinks in realization. Wait.. He can touch them. He can touch Keel..

Cyberdark Keel hummed, sounds of creaking steel coming from it's throat.

You.. You're growing more.. unstable..

"Huh?" Syrus blinked, confused. What did they mean?

It looked up at the Obelisk Blue dorm, staring at it for a while. It felt like hours passed, as it pondered it's thoughts. "Uh.. Keel?" Syrus called out. It stared at the sunlight that began to touch the roof as the sky became a gradient of blue, yellow and green.

Cyberdark Keel felt the wind bring a chill, as this new concern began to form. Well, there is a way. A way to keep him safe, and it's something it's built for. Just that, the usual target isn't...

Syrus... I've been thinking..

"Yeah..?"

Cyberdark Keel turns to him, coiling around itself.

I promised that I'd protect you.. So.. I must ask you to do something to allow me to accomplish that..

Syrus blinked. "Uh.." He felt a bit flattered at how Keel truly wanted to keep him safe, but didn't know what they meant.

"What is it..?"

... No. Not tonight. I'd like you to get some rest..

Cyberdark Keel whispered.

I'll tell you later on..

He frowned at the vauge answer, but obeyed as he began to walk off to his dorm.

Oh geez, it's morning already..

Jaden stared at his best friend, who was dozing off. Syrus barely was able to keep his head up, yet it was like he couldn't sleep for some reason. Weird, what stopped him before?

"Hey, Sarge?" He heard Hassleberry whisper. "Have you noticed how he's been disappearin' alot?"

"Yeah.. Something's up." Jaden whispered back. "Jessie said he saw him talking to something, and ran off. He looked upset.."

It was a good thing he was nearby, since Jaden was getting pretty worried when he lost him. But, it only grew with this new information. What is going on with him?

Winged Kuriboh chirped at him, and Jaden shakes his head. No, he doesn't want to jump to that conclusion. Syrus can't see duel spirits.

It isn't possible.

Right?
