A.N: Hey everybody my name UltraUniverse this is my first story. I just watched The Owl House for the first time last week and ended up binging the entire series. I loved the ending but I still wanted more so I decided to write a story after the events of the time skip.

One Month Before Luz's 18 Birthday

The scene opens with a white and orange box truck driving down the highway just as dawn is breaking this Friday morning. While the car exits off the highway to enter the next town, the radio DJ begins to speak. "Good morning and happy Friday everybody," she says with an energetic voice. "Let's get your day started right with this classic 90's hit." The DJ then plays "Return of the Mack" by Mack Morrison. The driver turns up the volume of his music. "Oh, what! This is my song!" He said with a slight accent and a huge smile. The kicks of the drum and beats of the Keyboard start blasting in the car while the driver starts singing along with the radio.

OOHH-OOHH-OOHH, come on, oh yeah

The driver belts out while he finally rolls down his windows to feel the fresh morning breeze. As the windows come down they reveal a tan young man smiling ear to ear singing along to the classic lyrics.

Well I Tied to tell you so

But I guess you didn't know

As the saddest story goes

Baby, now I got the flow

'Cause I knew it from the start

Baby, when you broke my heart

That I had to come again and show you that I'm real

The young man makes his way into town still performing his lines. As he drives through this quiet city, folks driving by and individuals on the sidewalk couldn't help but stare at him with mixed emotions. Some of them looking and chuckling at his loud singing and silly dance moves from his driver's seat, and others just rolled their eyes thinking that he has way too much energy this early in the morning.

(You lied to me) all those times that I loved you

(You lied to me) yes, I tried, yes, I tried

(You lied to me) even though you know that I'd die for you

(You lied to me) yes, I cried, yes, I cried

As the box truck pulls up to a red light, the driver reaches for his cup of coffee only to pick it up and realize that it's empty. "Uh oh, looks like I need a refill," he says with a slightly sad expression. He drives a few more blocks down until he comes upon a yellow diner named "Benny's". "I could go for a quick bite," he says as he feels his stomach grumble. The young man pulls into the parking lot and notices that there are a lot of big rigs, "Must be a popular breakfast spot" he thinks to himself. As the driver steps out of the car his entire body is now visible the young man seems to be about 5'11 with a bulky muscular build and thick wavy black hair, and he is seen to be wearing black jeans, a white T-shirt, green bomber jacket, two stud earrings, and tan timberland boots.

He walks into the diner and is met with the strong aroma of maple syrup, sizzling bacon, and freshly brewed coffee. He inhales sweet smells deeply and says "Oh yeah, this was the right decision" Somewhat excited to meet the locals he examines the room to see that it is only filled with old truckers. "Well, no surprise here," he says to himself. Suddenly a hectic voice of the waitress calls out to him "I'll be with you in a sec hun, just seat yourself at the counter." He walks over to the trucker-filled counter and plops himself onto a stool where two older gentlemen take notice of him one taller with a mustache and the other stalkier with a big beard.

"Good morning friend, what brings you to our little town," the tall man says with a smile, "How did you know I'm not from here", he says with his accent slipping out. The bearded man speaks up "Benny's, is a trucker diner, all the locals go to iSTOP on the other side of town, but you don't want to go there. They don't have unlimited flapjacks like here and their coffee tastes like farts." "Noted," the young man says. "But the best part about Benny's is Bridgette," he says as he points to the waitress with the knitted cap from before. "She's like family to us guys and gals, her old man used a truck driver too, I think that's why she might have a soft spot for us old timers." the first trucker says with a grin.

The young man nods his head in agreement " Ah ok, So Benny's has really good pancakes and the waitress is cool, and iSTOP farts in their coffee. Got it." he replies with his small accent. The taller man detects his accent and asks him "If you don't mind me asking. What kind of accent is that son? Are you from the U.K." Before he could answer the bearded man interrupts and says "Man I was thinking the same thing. You must've been guarding the queen you big motherf-" "LANGUAGE!" the tall man exclaims as he cuts off his friend. "There are ladies present" he comments as an older woman walks by them and smiles at the group. "Ma'am," the two older men say as they tip their cap to the woman. "Sorry Chuck," the shorter man says to his friend. The young man starts laughing to himself "You guys are funny, you remind me of my uncles back home."

All three men lightly chuckle and begin to speak again. "Maori," the young man said. "Huh," the short man says confused. "My accent, I have a Maori accent. I was born in New Zealand," he says clarifying his former statement. "Well, dang kid you're a long way from New Zealand." the short man proclaims. He then replies "Well I grew up in a town not too far from here. Maybe you've heard of it, Gravesfield" The tall man responds by saying "Of course, Gravesfield is about 90 minutes away. My daughter is a librarian over there." "Gravesfield? Ain't that the place where they said a witch took these two boys to hell or something like that? I don't know bout you kid but I don't mess with no devil stuff." He nods his head in agreement and says "You got that right I hate all that stuff too".

Time passed by quickly as he conversated with his new friends, it was a welcome surprise that these two guys made for good company. They talked and laughed so much that he didn't even notice that the waitress already gave him a cup of coffee and a stack of pancakes. Bridgette places a bottle of syrup on the counter and says "Here you go hun, it's on the house" The young man looks at her shocked, and says "No, I can't, Please let me pay for it" while pulling out his wallet. Bridgette shakes her head and gestures to the two men beside him "Charlie and Hank look like they like you, and any friend of theirs is a friend of mine. So that meal is on the house and I won't hear anything of it, mister". Surprised and then appreciative he says "Thank you miss, but can you please not call me mister. That's what they call my dad" he then extends his hand "My name is Osbourne, but just call me Ozzy" Bridgette then responds with a smile and takes his hand "I'm Bridgette and it's a pleasure to meet you, Ozzy"

Before their hands can meet a loud shatter is heard coming from inside the kitchen. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I'm ok" said sheepishly by one of the employees in the back. Bridgette quickly retracts her hand and looks to Ozzy, "Sorry, I'll be right back" then turns around and exclaims "You all good Mikey! I told you to stop taking all the dishes in one trip!" Mikey then responds with "Can't do that boss, my pride won't allow it!" Bridgette then rolls her eyes while she walks into the kitchen.

Ozzy smiles at everything that has happened so far and thinks about how much character this little diner has. Ozzy also couldn't stop thinking about how nice that lady Bridgette was for giving him free food. She then walks out of the kitchen balancing 6 plates on both of her arms, that's where Oz got a look at her. She was wearing a yellow and black Benny's uniform, with a few character and tv show pins on her shirt. Her hair was a mix of dark brown and pastel pink, and finally atop her head was a warm-looking knitted cap with a boba pin in it. She had light brown eyes and a thin row of freckles across her button nose, but what caught his attention was her smile, it was so cute and genuine. Everything about her was exceptionally inviting.

"Your food's getting cold there son," Charlie says nudging him. "Oh yeah," he said while pouring syrup on his pancakes. "Don't bother the kid, Chuck, he was too busy makin' googly eyes at Bridge" Hank says teasing Ozzy. "Wha... CBHGLEFVTGHJK" Ozzy blurts out choking on his bite of pancake. Now choking he drinks his coffee to help everything go down while Charlie and Hank laugh at him patting his back. "Hahaha sorry kid we were just busting your chops" Hank declares with a smile. Ozzy couldn't help but grin at his two new friends and comment "It's ok guys, but Bridgette does seem like a really cool girl." he says while looking over at her joking and laughing with an elderly couple as she give them their meals. "Oh yeah, she's a good one. You see we all knew her pops so she's kinda like a niece to all of us." Charlie replies. "You know she just got accepted to that fancy school out in New Haven" Hank states abruptly. Ozzy eyes widened with surprise "She got accepted to Yale!" Hank stroked his chin and thought "Yeah I think that was the name of it" "Hank how do you not know what Yale is" Charlie says almost disappointed in his friend. The three men just look at each other and then burst out in laughter at Hank's ignorance of Ivy League schools.

After a good long hardy laugh, Ozzy then stands up and removes his jacket, and puts it on the stool. He places it down now only in his T-shirt revealing that his right arm is covered with tribal Maori tattoos. "Whoa nice ink kid" Hank comments inspecting Ozzy's arm. "Thanks, man I just got it last year" He replied showing him his tattoo sleeve. The two men inspect all the intricate Polynesian designs until Charlie sees something that doesn't match the rest of the design.

"What's that symbol right there mean, on your inner forearm," he asks. Oz looks down at his arm and presents the symbol to them. It looks like three intersecting triangles. "Oh this, I just thought it looked cool when I was younger. Couple months after I got this, I got the Maori sleeve around it." The men are sufficed with his answer and don't bring it up again. Ozzy still standing up tells them "I'll be right back fellas, I just gotta go to the restroom." Hank and Charlie wave him off while he makes his way to the bathroom.

Ozzy makes his way to the restroom but when he bends the corner to go down the hallway to the bathroom he slips on the freshly mopped tiled floor. As he crashed to the floor landing on his rear he couldn't help but think to himself "Well that was embarrassing, thank god nobody saw that." but just as he thought that he saw the girls' bathroom door open and Bridgette came walking out. "I lied, before wasn't it embarrassing, THIS IS!" he thought to himself as Bridgette came running over to him.

"Oh my gosh, Ozzy are you ok." She said as she got even closer "I keep telling that dummy Mikey to put up the wet floor sign. Here let me help you up" she says apologetically. Ozzy then looks at her extended hand with a raised eyebrow "You washed your hands right" he replies with a joking grin taking her hand. When he clasped her outstretched hand he felt a familiar pressure course through his arm and permeate throughout his entire body. The sensation was so sudden he almost let go of her hand. When Ozzy finally got back on his feet he gave Bridgette the most peculiar stare almost as if he was disheartened. He was so out of it that he didn't even notice that Bridgette was speaking to him.

"Uh hello, Ozzy you in there man," she says breaking him out of his trance. Snapping back to the conversation Ozzy replies "Oh sorry Bridgette I kinda spaced out a bit" with his Kiwi accent coming out thicker than usual. "You sure you're ok dude, I could get you an ice pack from the freezer if you need one," she asks concerned. Ozzy then rubs the back of his head with his tattooed arm and tells her he's ok, that he just needs to use the bathroom but, as he does that Bridgette catches a glimpse of his tattoos. Ozzy rushed inside the bathroom so quickly that he didn't even notice that Bridgette has a particular expression on her face. TERROR.

As she stood there alone in the hallway her heart pounding with fear there was only one word she kept repeating to herself "Sharur" she said under her breath. She starts walking away daring not to look back "Sharur," She says again picking up the pace and waking past Hank and Charlie. "Hey Bridge, mind if I get another refill." Hanks's request fell on deaf ears as the terrified girl hastily moved past them, muttering something under her breath. "Uh Bridge you ok," Hank asks concerned "She looks like she's seen a ghost," Charlie says to his friend.

Bridgette hurried into the kitchen going past all her co-workers trying to get to the office in the connecting room next door. Some of her friends tried to get her attention but, their attempts were in vain because she just dashed through the kitchen muttering the same word "Sharur" As she makes it to the office she frantically checks her employee locker searching for her purse and car keys. Not in their right mind she rummages through everything and only finds her car keys. Not caring about her purse she rushes out the back door not telling anyone she was leaving early. Bridgette walks through the door feeling somewhat relieved, feeling that she is almost home-free.

Bridgette rushes to get to her car parked in the back until she catches sight of the last thing on earth she wanted to see. Ozzy stood there leaning against the bed of her rusty pickup truck. "Leaving without saying goodbye Bridgette," he said with a straight face.

Bridgette stood there horrified to see the man she thought she could've called a friend not more than five minutes ago, but all she could do was just stand there. Her body wouldn't budge, as much as she tried to move her body just stayed frozen in fear. She tried to scream but her voice wouldn't rise, she tried to speak but it felt as if her mouth was bolted shut. Bridgette tried to do anything but her body was frozen with fear, the fear of never seeing her family again, the fear of death, and the fear of the Sharur. Her mind was racing about all the terrible ways this could play out and tears inadvertently started streaming down her face, praying that it would be quick. Oz stared at her with mixed emotions, some moments he seemed stern and serious but, there was also a few glances he seemed consternated and demoralized.

In the end, Ozzy approached her and spoke "Judging by your reaction you must already know what I am, right." Bridgette let one word escape her lips barely above a whisper "Sharur". Oz nods his head and speaks "Yes, and I know what you are Bridgette." He says that as he carefully removes her knitted cap to reveal her slightly pointed ears and announces "A Witch". Bridgette's heart sinks as her hat was pulled off revealing her secret. Ozzy continues "And you know what my kind does to witches right," he says as he raises his tattooed arm making it glow a royal blue. She slowly nods her head and whispers in her broken voice "Kill" she utters as tears were now rushing her cheeks.

Osbourne lifts his hand ready to strike her down and turn her into ash until he looks at her one last time. She looked like an entirely different woman now. Gone was her smile, her jokes, her inviting energy, and most importantly her confidence. Everything that made this woman herself was all gone, because of him. How much she lit up the diner, how she was familiar with all the patrons, how she was going out of her way to talk with everyone, and how everyone loved and respected her. She even gave him a free meal, she didn't seem to be evil. Ozzy just realized that it wasn't that she didn't seem evil, she genuinely wasn't evil she was actually the complete opposite but, the big looming factor was that she is still a witch.

Ozzy had been trained to fight the supernatural and took an oath to battle them til the very end. That is why he wears this symbol on his arm, to show that he is already willing to die for his cause. To protect his world from theirs, that is what it means to be a Sharur, that is what it means to carry this brand on his arm. The brand of the Amelatu.

Ozzy then lowers his arm deactivating his power and then says "But Lucky for you I only hunt evil things." Bridgette's eyes shoot open as if she can't believe what she's hearing right now. Ozzy then tosses her back her cap saying "And you don't seem all that bad to me" Bridgette puts her hat back on and asks "Is this a trick, are you just giving me false hope or something." she asked nervously. "This is no trick, you are free to do as you please. I won't be coming back here any time soon," he says calmly. "But you're a Sharur, you people are the Hunters. I've never heard of a hunter letting a witch go," she said shocked at his actions. "Well there's a first time for everything," he says playfully.

Ozzy's expression soon faded away and the air was soon filled with an awkward tension until Bridgette broke it saying, "So uh... we're cool" as she pointed back and forth between him and herself. "As I said earlier I only hunt evil and you are far from it, so yeah mate we're cool," he says giving her a clement smile. "I just thought that Sharur were just make-believe you know, scary stories to make little witches and demons behave themselves," she said still can't believe what's going on. "Yeah, my clan does have a reputation, but we're not all the same. Just like how you're not the same as the rest of your kind," he explains while pointing at her ears. "Your ears aren't as pointed as other witches. You must be a half-breed," Oz continued. "Whoa, yeah my dad is human. Man, you're good," she said shocked by his keen eye. "Training to become a Sharur was the toughest experience I've ever had to endure, it was truly hell on earth. So yeah, we kinda have to be good," he says scratching the back of his head toward the end of his statement.

"But on a serious note Bridgette, be careful out there. more of my kinsman has been around these parts and they will not be as understanding as I am" he says with a serious tone. "Ok" she responds, "I think I'll head over to school and spend most of my days there, that should be safe right," she said cautiously. "It should be, most Sharur here are looking for a demon that escaped our custody not too long ago," he said. "What will you do now? Are you also looking for the escaped demon," she asked curiously. "Nah I got family in the area that's kinda why I'm over here." he replied "I haven't seen them in years so I'm gonna surprise them," Ozzy said excitedly

Not much was said after that, the two of them retreated to their cars but before they got too far Ozzy called out to Bridgette, "Hey I'm uh... I'm sorry for uh almost killing you and stuff." he says with a disgraced look on his face. Bridgette looks at him and replies "It's cool dude, I'm glad you didn't too" she says with a smile. Ozzy finally makes it back to his box truck and lets out a deep exhale "Woooooo what a morning!" He starts the car up and pulls out of the parking lot. While driving back to the freeway his mind is flooded about his actions at the diner. He let a witch go free, what would his kinsman think of him or even worse his mentor? As he's thinking, his phone gets a text message, he picks up his phone just to end up staring at his lock screen. It was a picture of him and his sister Luz at a Christmas party, he was dressed up as Frosty the Snowman and she was dressed as Jack Skelington. The picture was from a couple of years ago when Luz was a freshman and Oz was a senior. He gazed at the picture and smiled thinking about how long it's been since he's seen his younger sister. "She would've agreed with me today," he thought to himself. He then unlocked his phone to reveal that he has a different picture from his wallpaper. The picture is of him and an older muscular woman. She was tall and tanned with long thick black hair braided into one long braid, but the most eye-catching feature on the woman was she has a tribal tattoo on her chin called the Moko Kauae. This picture was much more recent being taken a year ago. They both were posing for the camera giving an almost victorious smile while pointing at their forearms showing that they both have the same triangle tattoo. Ozzy's looking brand new and hers was starting to look faded with a medium size scar running through it. "But she's a whole 'nother story," he said placing his phone back down.

Ozzy made it back to the highway and turned the radio on. "Good morning y'all the time is now 9:30 and I hope you're enjoying your morning so far" the DJ exclaims on the radio while Ozzy rolls his eyes. "Due to popular demand from a certain town this morning, I'm gonna bless you, listeners, with this 90's throwback one more time. The drums and keyboards start booming off of the truck's speakers. Ozzy starts to smile again while he starts singing the lyrics.

(Return of the Mack) There it is

(Return of the Mack) Come on

(Return of the Mack) Oh my god

(You know that I'll be Back) Here I am

(Return of the Mack) Once again

(Return of the Mack) Top of the world

As he belts out his song and drives down the Highway he passed by a sign on the side of the road. It read Gravesfield 30 miles away.
