"THWACK", my axe hit the tree. It was early in the morning. The moon still glistening among the stars. i couldn't sleep. I was having nightmares once again. They would frequent every few months, whenever Hiccup's death anniversary is around the corner. It was always about that one day. Oh, that horrific day.

FLASHBACK

It was a few days after Hiccup's disappearance. I had finished off the monstrous nightmare, since Hiccup was nowhere to be found. We looked for him for a while, scowered the whole island really. But he was still nowhere to be found. The chief had lost all hope in finding his son when the horn blew.

The storm master claimed he had seen some explosions within the clouds. He said he saw a silhouette of a dragon the size of ten great halls stacked on top of each other. Soon we all started noticing it.

Suddenly, something clicked in the chief. He told us to man the ship. he told us that the explosions were coming from the nest. Soon, most of Berk were onboard three massive ships that were headed towards the explosions.

As we weaved through the busy sea stacks and boulders, we saw an armada of dragons coming our way. But as we readied our battle stances, they flew right past, ignoring us entirely. By the time we reached the island, the explosions had long stopped.

There was a gigantic mountain broke out half in the middle of the isle. And scattered all around the place were remnants of a dragon ten times the size of the great hall. Charred pieces of flesh with thick layers of scales on top were at every inch of the isle. Some still falling from the sky. Most of the ships were empty as member of the hairy hooligan tribe started investigating, trying to find the source for this mass destruction.

But while everyone else was busy, I saw something floating in the water. At first glance, it looked like a piece of fur. But on closer inspection, I realised it was a foot. Hiccup's foot. I saw his signature at the bottom of the boot. The foul stench of cold flesh stung harder all of a sudden. I fell back on my palms and regurgitated on a sea boulder near by.

We did not have any raids after the day. Rumour spread that a dragon mater had defeated that beast. Did I believe that? Yes I did. I didn't tell anyone about the incident. I'm not sure why but I never could bring myself to. "THWACK!"
