Eivor Varinsdottir sat on a stool in the corner of the longhouse all alone while everyone else were talking , singing and dancing all around her . She had just attended and participated in the wedding of her new friend and ally - Oswald , King of East Anglia .

Oswald saw a lonely Eivor deep in thought in the corner of the room, and decided to approach her . Valdis was busy talking to her brothers and Eivor looked free and unoccupied and could do with a friend to talk to .

He approached Eivor and stood in front of her smiling with his arms folded , as she looked up at him .

"It was a beautiful Wedding Oswald, like you said it would be" She started , getting up from the stool so she could be closer to him

Oswald coughed awkwardly , then murmured quietly so only he and Eivor could hear "Beautiful like you mean?" He smiled fluttering his eyes at her in a fixed stare

Eivor gave him a bemused look , almost not quite believing what she was hearing .

"Are you trying to flirt with me Oswald when you're just married?" She asked bemused

Oswald chuckled nervously "Yes maybe, I don't know" as he flushed bright pink

Eivor laughed, rolling her eyes at the absurdity of the situation. First Broder , now Oswald - so many men were hitting on her at the wedding even the married man himself .

Oswald turned around , casting a quick nervous glance at Valdis - who was still preoccupied with her brothers . Before turning back to face a bemused Eivor who was still smiling at him .

"Come with me Eivor, I know a spot where we can talk more privately and where no one can see us"

Eivor sceptically followed Oswald to an even more private hidden corner of the Longhouse where it was quiet and it was just those two . They could still hear the distant chatter of the guests in the background .

Without warning , Oswald reached in and leaned in closer to Eivor , aiming for her lips and her waist . He placed a light kiss on Eivor's lips .

With a jolt and a realisation , Eivor realised what was going on . Oswald had walked her into this hidden corner away from everyone else , so he could secretly cheat on Valdis away from her or other witnesses . It all made sense now .

Oswald pulled back alarmed at what he had just done .

"I'm sorry I don't know what came over me , it's just your leaving today and I see you as more than a friend but then I'm married and I'm never going to see you again so I thought I would just grab the chance . Anyway it's silly you probably don't want it . I'm married for heaven's sake, what am I doing ?" He dismissed and scolded himself looking down in shame

Eivor smiled and chuckled at Oswald's little confession . The silly fool was cute when he flushed and looked down , making him even more handsome than he already was . It was a little bit unorthodox and not what she expected , but she couldn't deny no matter how wrong it was that she too - felt the same for Oswald even though he was married .

"Thank you for your boldness Oswald. That was a brave thing to do . I always believed in you . Your strength and courage . East Anglia will have its great leader and that leader is you . As for not wanting it, I actually do want it ." Eivor smirked as she reached forward for Oswald's hand and stroked and caressed it gently .

Oswald smiled back at Eivor, tears brimming out of his eyes - he couldn't believe what was happening . Eivor felt the same .

She leaned in closer to him and gave him a gentle kiss on the lips too . Oswald returned the kiss , deepening it . Soon they were making out without a care in the world .

Meanwhile on the other side of the longhouse , Valdis had finished speaking to her brothers. She now needed to urgently find Oswald and speak to him . However she couldn't find him anywhere within the longhouse .

Walking around , and looking within the crowds of people - she decided to approach a passerby to ask if they had seen where her new husband had gone .

"Excuse me, do you know where my husband Oswald went?" She asked a Saxon guest

"Oswald? I think I saw him with some Norse warrior talking a while ago, they then went somewhere else more private to talk, don't know what happened after" he shrugged .

"That would be Eivor. And Thank you" Valdis replied to the man as the man went back to what he was doing .

After being pointed in the right direction , It didn't take long for Valdis to find the secret hiding spot where Oswald and Eivor were.

Valdis was about to approach, through the small gap of the ajar door to the room when the sight in front of her stopped her in her tracks .

"Os-" it was cut mid sentence

There was Oswald, her newly wed husband - the Good noble Saxon king of East Anglia who everyone had loved - tongue deep with Eivor Wolf Kissed of the Raven clan cuddling and snogging like there was no tomorrow in the King's meeting room

Valdis heart was in her mouth . She was frozen in her tracks . It all felt like a bad dream , she felt like her world came crashing down . In time she had grown to love Oswald and his flaws after he had proven himself to her and now he was kissing another woman . Not just any woman , a friend who she had so trusted too , Eivor . It was the worst situation anyone could walk into.

Despite how badly she wanted to move - half of her wanted to continue watching the situation . At least she found out the truth . She could confront him there and then , had she not seen Oswald cheating would he come back to her after and act like as if he never kissed Eivor ? The very thought made her sick . How could he betray her like that ?

Oswald wasn't the saviour everyone thought he was . There was a dark side to him , he wasn't loyal in relationships or to his wife. That was for sure .

Oswald and Eivor eventually pulled back . Smiling to each other .

"I've got to go now. Valdis will be waiting. Can't leave her too long" Oswald chuckled back to Eivor. "Thanks I had a really nice time"

Thanks, I had a really nice time . Valdis silently mocked Oswald in her head . She was brimming with fury , blood boiling in anger and rightfully so . Her husband had just cheated on her with their good friend - an ally and a woman who she thought she could have trusted .

"One day I'll come calling" Eivor smiled and winked at Oswald, before handing him a slip of paper with Ravensthorpe's address so he could write and contact her .

"I'll be waiting . Goodbye Eivor my friend" he grinned and winked at her, knowing there was more to their "friendship" now.

Eivor then walked past Valdis as she hid behind the wooden frame unaware Oswald's wife had seen everything . Still smiling , Oswald got up to leave too, only to bump into an angry Valdis who was scowling in front of him in disapproval .

Oswald gulped . Oh no. She saw everything . I'm screwed. She looked angry and upset . She had every right to be , I just kissed another woman in front of her . Lord help me, I'm probably not going to live through this . He thought as he faced her .

Author's Note : Poor Valdis having her heart broken by Oswald - he really is a jerk in this one and this Universe. She deserves better. The poor woman seems to be unlucky when it comes to relationships it seems...
