"Shall we go?" Jay asks, holding out his hand for Addi to take. She does take it, as she nods, then says "absolutely."

They walk to Jay's truck and Jay helps Addi in, then walks around to the driver's side and pulls out of the parking space.

"So where are we going?" Addi asks

"I thought we'd grab some dinner at this roof top restaurant and bar and then go for a walk over at navy pier?" Jay explained.

Addi smiles softly at him, as she says "that sounds amazing."

"Yea?" Jay asks, sneaking a peak at her at a stop light. Man she looks stunning.

"Yea it does. So what did you do today?" Addi asks as jay holds her hand that's on her thigh, sending shivers down Addis' spine.

"I went to Antonio's booking gym and worked out for most of the afternoon. " jay explained

"That is good. Antonio as in Sylvies fiance?" Addi asks.

"Yea, he's in my unit, he actually got me the job in intelligence." Jay explained.

"Oh, cool. You'll have to take me to his gym sometime so we can spar." Addi says making jay snort.

"I learnt my lesson a long time ago about sparing you, beautiful. "Jay says, making Addi full on laugh. God Jay loves that sound. He loves everything about this woman.

"Oh, baby, are you scared of getting your ass kicked? Again?" Addi asks, still laughing..

"Oh honey, I hold back when we spar." Jay explained. Making Addi snort.

"Likely story." Addi says smirking at Jay, who playfully rolls his eyes at her.

It's as easy as breathing between them. The banter is like no time has passed. Jay's so comfortable with her like he always has been.

They arrive at the rooftop bar and restaurant, Jay gets out and opens Addis' door for her, and helps her out of his truck, with stilettos it's hard for her to get in and out. She sent him a thankful smile.

"Thanks handsome." Addi says, taking his hand.

"No problem, gorgeous. "Jay says, returning the smile.

They walk into the building holding hands. They take the elevator to the roof, where the hostess greets them. "Good evening do you have a reservation?" The hostess asks.

Jay speaks up and says "yes for two under Halstead."

The hostess nods and leads them to their table in a fair corner of the patio that has a breathtaking view of the Chicago skyline.

"Here you go, your waiter will be over shortly. " The hostess says as Jay pulls out Addis' chair for her, which she sends him a grateful smile.

"Well aren't you just a gentleman tonight." Addi says after the hostess leaves.

"Only the best for you, Addi, I wanted to bring you here tonight, because I wanted to show that I've grown up, I'm trying to be the man you deserve, I love you so much Addi, I don't care if you're damaged. We can work through everything together." Jay explained, Addi smiles softly at him as she says

"Jay, I love you, and I'm ready to take the chance of us being together. Like everyone has been saying to me, life is too short. I think we should give our relationship another shot."

Jay's smile is so bright and happy that it makes Addis heart skip a beat.

"Okay, so I can kiss you whenever I want now?" Jay asks with a smirk, making Addi laugh as she says. "Yes you can."

"Good. So you still want me to be your date to the fireman's banquet?" Jay asks, as he takes her hand in his.

Addi nods just as the waiter comes over.

"Good evening, sorry for the wait. What can I get you both to drink?" The waiter asks.

"Your finest rose wine please." Jay says, smiling at Addi, she usually drinks hard liquor but she loves her rose and Jay remembered.

"Okay, here's the menus I'll be right back." The waiter says heading off to get their wine, when Addi speaks up, saying. "You remembered my favorite breakfast food and how I take my coffee and now you remembered how much I love a good rose." Addi chuckles amazed at this man before her.

"Of course. I also remember where all your sensitive spots are." Jay says in a husky, and suggestive tone.

Addi blushes, but smirks looking over the top of her menu. "Oh yea, well we might just have to put your memory to test tonight." Addi purrs making Jay groan.

"Definitely." Jay says as the waiter comes back. "Here's your wine. What else can I get you?" The waiter asks.

"I'll have the steak, and potatoes, medium well please." Jay says

"I'll have the chicken parmesan with a garden salad please." Addi says.

The waiter nods and leaves them alone again.

"So what are you driving now that you're back for good. Also are you back for good?" Jay asks, as Addi nods, taking a sip of her wine.

"Yea I am. Honorable discharge. And I'm driving a 1970 black dodge charger now." Addi explained.

"That's good I'm happy that you don't have to go back and wow, a charger I know that was always your dream car." Jay says

"Yes it is, it's a beaut too." Addi says. She always loved fast cars and bikes.

"That's good you'll have to show me it some time and let me take it for a drive." Jay says, smiling at Addi. Jay's the only one who's ever been able to drive Addis cars or bikes.

"Yes I will. You definitely can take it for a drive. You know what it always does to me seeing you in charge of a fast car or bike." Addi says, smirking.

Oh how well Jay knows what it does to her. They only ever usually get a few blocks before she jumps his bones, which Jay never complains about.

"That I do. So how has 51 been treating you?" Jay asks as their meals are brought out.

"Thanks." Jay says to the waiter who nods. Then Addi says "good, they have all been really welcoming. Stella, Sylvie and Gabby are my best friends and are like sisters I never had but always wanted." Addi takes a bite of her food and moans.

"Man this is good." Addi says taking another bite making Jay chuckle.

"Good I'm glad, about how they're treating you and also that you're enjoying your food." Jay says, taking a bite of his steak, which is delicious as well.

"Yea everything's going well. I start therapy Monday, which is gonna be fun." Addi says the last part sarcastically.

"Therapy's not so bad. I go once a week as well." Jay explained, looking into Addis beautiful blue eyes.

"Yea, I know it's just there's so much I dont want to relive you know?" Addi explained.

"I get that it was the same for me to at first." Jay says making Addi nod, she then decides to change the subject and jay let's her.

"So how's being a detective?" Addi asks.

"Good, I've got shot a few times. But nothing to bad. I had gotten kidnapped once but luckily my partner and ex girlfriend at the time saved me." Jay explained.

"Wow that sucks, that you went through all that, but good that she saved you." Addi says.

"Have you ever thought about being a cop?" Jay asks.

"Yea, I was going to be but then decided to be a firefighter." Addi explained.

"Well I'm sure with your background in the army you could get a spot in intelligence if you wanted it." Jay says fishing the last of his food.

Addi thinks for a second as she finishes her food, she looks over the chicago skyline , its beautiful at this time of night. She would love to be a cop but shes gotta try to make being a firefighter work.

"I'll keep that in mind." Addi finally says.

Jay nods. The waiter comes back over and they order a piece of New York cheese cake with blueberry sauce for dessert. Both of their favorites so they shared the piece.

Jay feeds Addi a piece of the cake and she giggles as she takes it.

They finish the cheesecake with idle chit chat between the two. Jay pays, but not without Addi protesting. They then walk to the elevator and its empty besides for the two of them, and even in the dim elevator light Addi looks like a goddess. So jay pushes her up against the back wall of the elevator , he looks into her beautiful ocean blues, then down to her lips and back again. Then his lips are on hers in a searing hot kiss. Jay's hands finds her hips and pulls her closer to him. Addis one hand goes to Jay's hair as the other goes to his ass, pushing him up against her more. It gets heated fast but then they hear the elevator ding and pull apart for air.

"Shall we go for that walk now?" Jay asks with a smirk as he sees the desire in Addis eyes. She clears her throat, then nods.

"Sure." She says. She straightens up her dress and hair as they get out of the elevator.

Jay puts his hand on the small of Addis' back and leads her to the truck.

Jay helps Addi into the truck, then gets in the driver's seat. It's only a five minute drive to Navy pier, so they drive in comfortable silence. Jay puts his hand on Addis' thigh.

They arrive and get out of the truck. They walk along the pier hand in hand, jay finally breaks the silence by asking. "Have you run into your birth parents since you've been back?"

Lucy Sinclair and Rick Bishop are Addisons birth parents both drug addicts and alcoholics. Addi was taken from them when she was five and put into the system, where she stayed until she ran away at the age of 17 and joined the army. Luckily with her situation the army let her join with a DCFS workers signature instead of her birth parents or foster parents.

Addison hasn't spoken to her birth parents or anyone from her past in a very long time.

"Nope not yet. Hope I don't though. But for all I know they could be dead." Addi says.

"Well I'm glad you haven't had to face them." Jay says squeezing her hand in reassurance.

Addi smiles softly at him as she asks. "Hows your mom and dad?" Addi asks.

Addi meet Amelia halstead (Jay's mom) a few times on leave and they hit it off like a house on fire. They where really close.

"Oh, oh mom died a few years after I got back and dad we just moved him into an apartment. " jay explained. Addi stops walking and jay turns to face her.

"Amelia died?" Addi asks, her voice cracking. Jay nods.

"I'm so, so sorry Jay I should've been there for you. God I loved your mom. She treated me like one of her own. She was an amazing woman." Addi says wiping at her tears.

"Its okay, you didnt know. I tried to get a hold of you actually thought you might want to know but apparently you were on a big mission and couldn't be contacted so I left it at that. I shouldn't have, I should've tried harder to get a hold of you." Jay explained cupping Addis cheek. She leans in first and kisses Jay tenderly on the lips. When they break apart she says."its okay I wish I could've been there for you but it's in the past. Why don't we head back to my place now though?" Addi says and asks.

Jay smirks as he nods.

They head back to the truck and head to Addis place.
