King Kong meets Spider-Man
Prologue
"Curses!", cried a short, bald man wearing a white lab coat, "Even after making the ultimate killing machine, Kong crushed it as easily as I could crush a spider". "Funny you should say that", said a voice. "Who dares intrude upon the lab of Dr. Who?", asked the man. "Come now, Thaddeus", said the voice, "I'm sure you have time to meet up with an old compatriot". Out of the darkness stepped a man with brown hair, dark shades, and a black trench coat, out of which emerged four mechanical tentacles with three digits on each end. "Otto?", asked Dr. Who. "I prefer the name Dr. Octopus", he said as he pulled up a chair, "But tell me more about this monkey problem you have". "It's no mere monkey", said Dr. Who, "That Kong and the Bond family have meddled in my affairs one too many times. Is it too much to ask that the ape be put out of my misery before I conquer the world". "Luckily, a green friend of mine has just the thing to help you, if you're interested of course", said Dr. Octopus. "What sort of thing?", asked Dr. Who. "A parchment that holds the key to unlimited power", smiled Dr. Octopus, "Power enough to kill both Kong and that accursed Spider-Man". "I'm interested", said Dr. Who.
Chapter 1: The Spider Appears!
1969:It was a momentous day on Mondo Island. Susan Bond had gotten a letter from the prestigious ESU in New York City. "You think it might be an acceptance letter?", asked Susan. "I'd be surprised after the last time", said her father, Professor Bond, referring to the time their friend, Kong, had taken Susan up the Empire State Building, "Still it would be a happy coincidence to get accepted the same day as the expo". "Well, we can't be sure until Susan opens it", her brother, Bobby, said. "OK", said Susan, "Moment of truth. Is everyone ready?" "Open it", said Professor Bond. Susan nervously cut open the envelope and..."I got in!", she cried. "That's great, Susan", said Bobby as the siblings hugged it out. "I'll have Captain Englehorn have the Venture ready for you by tomorrow", smiled Professor Bond. Bobby went to the window of the family's beach-side house to see Kong looking in on them. "Susan's going to college in New York, Kong", explained Bobby, "Isn't that great"? Kong simply grunted.
Meanwhile, at the Museum of Natural History, Dr. Who and Dr. Octopus walked into a wing that was under renovation. Just then, the Green Goblin flew in on his bat-like glider, cackling as he landed. "Green Goblin, I trust you have what you've promised?", asked Dr. Octopus. "Of course I have it, Doc", said the Green Goblin, "Say, who's the new guy?" "This is Dr. Who", explained Dr. Octopus, "He has personally visited Mondo Island, and as such, is familiar with the nature of our newest enemy". "I knew that", said the Green Goblin as he laid out a parchment on the wooden table, "This is what we seek. In my time of studying the occult, one name comes up in Mondo Island folklore. That of the warrior demon, Chiros". "Looks like he could bestow power on those who could awaken him", said Dr. Who, "But how are we to do it?" "With five sinister, mystical objects", said Dr. Octopus, "The Wand of Watomb, the Eye of Agamotto, the Kurse Stone, the Master Emerald, and the Darkhold, a book of black witchcraft used by the likes of Agatha Harkness and the Red Skull". "And just how do we get these things?", asked Dr. Who. "We take the Wand of Watomb first", said the Green Goblin, "It's on display at the ESU campus." "Just as Kong will be", snarled Dr. Who. "All we need is a distraction, and I have just the guy for it", cackled the Green Goblin.
The nest day, the Venture arrived in New York, carrying Kong, who stared up at the city skyline. "I still don't understand why we had to bring him along", said Susan. "Well, you know Kong", said Professor Bond, "He likes going places. Now, are you sure you'll be alright on campus alone". "I'll be fine, Daddy", smiled Susan. "Well, here's hoping", said Professor Bond as the Venture docked into port. Susan hugged her father and brother and walked off into the city.
She arrived at the ESU registration building, where she signed some forms before heading out into the pavilion. "Life in the big city", she sighed contently, "Nothing like it". Just then, a man walking by bumped her shoulder. "Watch it, jerk!", snarled Susan. "Oh, my bad", said the man, who had brown hair, a tan vest over a white shirt, and a camera hanging around his neck, "I was lost in thought and I didn't see you. I'm Peter, by the way". "Susan Bond", said Susan as the shook hands. "Oh, like..?", asked Peter. "Yes, like Professor Bond", said Susan, "Sorry, I got that one a lot in high school." "Believe me, there are worse things to get", said Peter. "I'm sure there is", said Susan as she walked alongside Peter, "I'm surprised you're not going to see Kong". "Saw him once, and once was enough", said Peter, "I'm more interested in seeing some of those dynamo servers in Wing A". "That's where I'm heading", said Susan, "If we hurry, we might see a demonstration".
Above Wing C, however, the Green Goblin was flying over on his glider. "OK, Jackson, let her rip", laughed the Green Goblin. "On it", said a pilot as he strapped on his helmet. Just then, a massive wheel with four mounted machine guns burst out of the alleyway! Peter and Susan looked back to see the Big Wheel blowing up some cars! "Oh no, Big Wheel", said Peter. "Looks like he's heading for Wing B", said Susan, "That's where my family is." "Go warn them", said Peter, "I'll go get help!" As they ran off, Susan didn't notice as Peter reached into his bag to grab a red and blue suit.
"Nothing can stop the might of Big Wheel!", cackled the pilot as the Big Wheel barreled down the street! Just then, as he was closing in on Wing B, a massive spider web covered the windshield! Then, the pilot looked over to see Spider-Man clinging to the side of the Big Wheel. "Spider-Man, just the guy I wanted to see", smiled the pilot. "Oh, give me a brake!", said Spider-Man as he shot some webs at the Big Wheel's brakes! Just then, he caught sight of something and grabbed the pilot. He leaped into the air as Kong smashed the Big Wheel! Spider-Man threw the pilot into a giant spider web before clinging to the side of a building. "All things considered, that could've ended a lot worse", said Spider-Man. "I was just a distraction", smiled the pilot, "The real plan is about to begin". Just then, they heard an explosion in the distance! Kong growled and ran towards it. "Guess I have to take care of this", said Spider-Man as he fired a web and took off.
Back at Wing C, the Green Goblin fired a missile into the side of the building and flew in. He then threw a knife shaped like a bat at a glass display, shattering it on impact. "There it is", cackled the Green Goblin, "The Wand of Watomb". Just then, a mechanical tentacle reached over and grabbed the wand. "Big Wheel? Really?", asked Dr. Octopus. "You said you needed a distraction", said Green Goblin. "He got caught instantly", said Dr. Octopus, "and now, the gorilla is heading here". "What's his ETA?", asked Green Goblin. Just then, they heard Kong roar outside. "Never mind", said the Green Goblin, just as Spider-Man burst into the room. "My two favorite people", said Spider-Man. "I have an idea", whispered Dr. Octopus, "Get Kong to attack Spider-Man". "On it", smiled the Green Goblin as Dr. Octopus used his tentacles to throw Spider-Man out the window. As Spider-Man got up, the Green Goblin threw a pumpkin bomb at Kong, which exploded to reveal a net. "He did it", said the Green Goblin as he pointed to Spider-Man. The costumed hero barely escaped a swing from Kong's fist! "Alright big guy, if it's a fight you're looking for, then I'm happy to deliver", said Spider-Man as he charged forward.
