Tenshi slowly opened his eyes, greeted by the soft glow of dawn streaming through the curtains. He blinked away the remnants of sleep, his senses gradually adjusting to the new day. As he stirred, the birds chirping outside the hospital window filled the air, their melodic song carrying a sense of serenity.
"Morning, huh."
He shifted slightly, his body feeling the strain of spending the night in a stiff chair; next to Eri's hospital bed. Tenshi glanced over at her, her form still resting, the rise and fall of her chest a reassuring rhythm. A small smile tugged at his lips as he observed her, grateful that the girl appeared in good shape.
The quietness of the early morning allowed Tenshi a moment of introspection. He reflected on the events that had led him here to this moment of vigilance and care. Taking a deep breath, he let the calmness of the morning seep into his being, washing away any lingering weariness.
"She looks nothing like Yori," grey eyes scanned the girl's features, which had a small horn on the right side of her forehead and long blue-greyish hair.
Gently rising from the chair, Tenshi stretched his tired muscles, feeling the stiffness gradually dissipate. He approached the window, drawn by the chorus of birdsong outside. Opening the curtains, he allowed the gentle sunlight to fill the room, casting a warm glow on everything it touched.
Leaning against the windowsill, Tenshi closed his eyes, embracing the tranquility around him. The chirping birds appeared to be a sign of hope and renewal, a reminder that each day held the potential for new beginnings.
"What are you, Eri?" Tenshi couldn't help but think of what happened between the girl and her mother; Yori was not always reliable with the truth. When they were younger, she would often pathologically lie and exaggerate the truth. With a history of doing things, her father hated, including him.
"What would the old man think now? Me? Taking care of his granddaughter, he rather loses both of his hands than allow him to do anything with his daughter."
Making his way over to the girl, he stroked Eri's pale face listening to the quiet breathing of the girl. Life was full of surprises, and this may just have been the most interesting one yet.
In this peaceful moment, Tenshi found solace. The weight of his responsibilities, the challenges he faced, and the battles he fought were momentarily set aside. He focused on the present, appreciating the simple beauty of the morning and the bond he shared with Eri.
As he stood silently in the hospital room, his gaze fixed on the frail figure of Eri lying motionless on the bed. The rhythmic beeping of the medical machines filled the room, creating an eerie backdrop to his thoughts. As he looked at Eri's peaceful face, memories from his painful past surged to the forefront of his mind.
He couldn't help but draw parallels between himself and the young girl before him. Both had experienced unspeakable tragedy, and both had been thrust into a world of darkness and despair at a young age. Knowing what it was like to carry the scars of the past, to feel the haunting presence of those who were no longer there. The realization of the immense responsibility he now held as her guardian hit him like a wave, both daunting and filled with purpose
"Satoshi…"
"Numera…"
Tenshi's heart ached as he remembered the loss of his siblings at the hands of a deranged villain who murdered them in cold blood. Before he could murder him, a bullet went through his chest, which silenced the crazed man. Ever since that day, he pledged to himself that he would strive his hardest for the memory of his siblings. To pursue the justice of punishing senseless criminals by becoming a pro hero, which he had succeeded in early by becoming a pro hero at 20 years of age.
The birds continued their symphony, and Tenshi felt a surge of determination welling up within him. He knew that the road ahead would not be easy and that many battles still needed to be fought and obstacles to overcome. But at this moment, he found strength in the quiet resilience of the early morning and the unwavering spirit of those who fought for a better future.
The door to the hospital room gently swung open, and a middle-aged doctor entered, carrying a clipboard filled with notes and medical charts. Tenshi turned his attention towards the doctor, a mixture of anticipation and concern evident in his eyes.
"Good morning, Mr. Watase," the doctor greeted, offering a small smile. "I'm here to provide you with an update on Eri's condition."
Tenshi nodded, his expression a mix of gratitude and apprehension. "Thank you, Doctor. How is she doing?"
The doctor flipped through the pages on his clipboard, scanning the information before meeting Tenshi's gaze. "Eri's condition has stabilized, which is a positive sign. However, given the severity of her injuries and the strain her body has endured, it's likely that she will remain in a deep sleep for a few more weeks as her body continues to heal."
Tenshi's shoulders slumped slightly, a mixture of relief and concern washing over him. "I see. So, she'll be asleep for a while longer?"
The doctor nodded sympathetically. "Yes, that's correct. Her body must rest and recover during this time. We'll continue to monitor her closely and provide the necessary care."
Tenshi took a deep breath, his determination resurfacing. "I understand. Please keep me updated on her progress. Any changes or developments; I want to know immediately."
The doctor nodded, making a note on his clipboard. "Of course, Mr. Watase. We'll ensure that you receive regular updates. If you can't be here, we can arrange for a nurse to provide you with the information."
Tenshi appreciated the doctor's understanding and cooperation. "Thank you. That would be greatly appreciated. I have work obligations that I can't neglect, but Eri's well-being is my top priority."
The doctor smiled reassuringly. "Rest assured, Mr. Watase, our team is dedicated to providing the best care for Eri. We understand your commitment to her, and we'll keep you informed every step of the way."
Tenshi nodded, a sense of trust building between him and the medical staff. "Thank you, Doctor. I appreciate your help and the care you're providing for Eri."
With a final nod, the doctor left the room, his steps purposeful yet measured. Tenshi watched him go, a mix of emotions swirling within him. The news that Eri would need more time to recover was both expected and challenging, but he knew he had to balance his responsibilities.
Standing beside Eri's sleeping form, Tenshi made a silent promise to her. He vowed to do everything to support her, even if he couldn't be physically present by her side every moment. Trusting in the medical team's expertise, he would stay in constant communication with them to ensure her well-being.
Gaining newfound determination, Tenshi shifted his attention to the tasks that awaited him outside the hospital room. Stepping into the bustling world beyond, he carried a sense of purpose, ready to fulfill his responsibilities as a hero and Eri's guardian.
Exiting the hospital room, Tenshi's mind preoccupied with thoughts of Eri's recovery, he unintentionally collided with two people.
"My apologies," Tenshi's soft voice reached the figures, causing them to turn their attention towards him. His eyes widened in surprise as he recognized the individuals before him. It was Mirio Togata, the spirited hero with an unwavering smile, and the boy who fought Overhaul.
Mirio, always quick to brush off any mishaps, laughed heartily. "No worries, Tenshi! It's a busy hospital corridor, after all."
Izuku, his expression a mix of concern and curiosity, studied Tenshi intently. The man's curly hair and grey eyes seemed familiar, yet he couldn't place it.
"Tenshi, right? We heard about Eri's condition. Are you a relative or a friend of Eri?" His voice filled with a mixture of politeness and curiosity.
" Eri's mother and I go back, she called me about taking up guardianship for the girl, and here we are. I am a pro-hero, a wealthy one at that." Tenshi rubbed his head sheepishly.
"You're a pro hero?" Deku asked, his voice filled with astonishment and curiosity. "I didn't realize. What agency are you with?"
Tenshi nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Yes, I am. I own and operate my agency called Prism Heroes. We specialize in covert operations and gathering intelligence."
Izuku's mind raced as he tried to recall any information he might have heard about Prism Heroes. Though the heroes' agency name didn't immediately ring a bell, he knew that the world of pro heroes was vast, and there were many heroes and agencies he had yet to discover.
"I haven't heard of Prism Heroes before," Izuku admitted, his tone tinged with curiosity and admiration. "But it sounds like important work. Thank you for everything you're doing for Eri."
"Wait a minute. I think I've heard of him. He's the …"
Mirio's expression brightened further as he recognized Tenshi's name. In realization as he connected the dots. "Ah, I remember now! You're Tenshi Watase, the Prism Hero! You're known for your mesmerizing eyes and teleportation abilities. I've heard about your incredible Quirk and heroic deeds. It's an honor to meet you! "
Tenshi nodded, acknowledging their recognition. "Thank you. It's good to meet young heroes who know their heroes."
Mirio grinned, his enthusiasm evident. "Well, we're both aspiring heroes, working our way up. But hearing about your reputation and seeing your dedication, we can learn a lot from you."
Tenshi's gaze shifted between Mirio and Izuku, a sense of gratitude welling up within him. "I appreciate your kind words. It's humbling to know that I can inspire others. But let's remember we're all in this together. We must protect and bring hope to those who need it."
Izuku nodded in agreement, his eyes shining with determination. "Tenshi. Eri's counting on us, and we won't fail her."
Tenshi's lips curled into a small smile. "I'm glad Eri has people like you wanting the best for her. Together, we can make a difference."
Izuku's eyes gleamed with determination as he spoke. "We'll continue to be there for her, Tenshi. And for you as well. So don't hesitate to ask."
Extending his hand towards Tenshi. "Let's work together to ensure Eri's safety and happiness."
Tenshi accepted Deku's hand, their handshake firm and resolute. "Deku. We're all in this together."
Their hands separated, leaving behind a sense of camaraderie. Despite their unexpected meeting, they now shared a common purpose—to protect and nurture Eri and fight for a world where heroes could make a difference.
Tenshi's lips curled into a small smile. "I appreciate that, Izuku. Your support is invaluable. Together, we'll help Eri through this."
Mirio's enthusiasm returned, and he clapped Tenshi on the back. "Exactly! We'll be a beacon of hope for Eri and everyone else who needs us."
Tenshi's gaze shifted from Mirio to Izuku, a flicker of determination in his eyes. "You're right, Mirio. We'll be the guiding light in Eri's life, showing her that she's not alone."
As Tenshi turned to leave, his mind filled with a renewed sense of purpose and determination, he couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude for the chance encounter with Mirio and Izuku. Their recognition and admiration for his abilities and reputation as the Prism Hero resonated deeply within him.
With a firm nod, Tenshi addressed Mirio and Izuku. "Thank you both for your kind words. It means a lot to me. As heroes, we have the responsibility to support and uplift one another. I'm glad to have you as allies in this journey."
Mirio's grin widened, his eyes shining with excitement. "Likewise, Tenshi! We'll be cheering you on and learning from your experiences. Your presence brings a new perspective to the world of heroes."
Izuku nodded enthusiastically. "Absolutely! We can all learn from each other's strengths and challenges. Let's continue working together to make a difference and protect those in need."
With a final wave, Tenshi continued down the hospital corridor, his steps purposeful and filled with a newfound resolve. The early morning birds chirped in the background, their songs serving as a reminder of the world's constant need for heroes.
