Gojo and Megumi pulled up to the medical centre in a taxi, with Gojo slowly emerging from the vehicle in a fragile state, Megumi close to his side in case he fainted again. Gojo had assured the child he was fine to attend the appointment alone but, as stubborn as ever, Megumi insisted on coming with Gojo to ensure he'd actually attend, as the boy knew the man hated doctor trips but really, deep down Megumi was very worried for Gojo, though he did not show this beyond his signature stoic facial expression.
After signing in at reception, the two sat in silence in the waiting room. Megumi contemplated text messaging Tsumiki to let her know what was happening but ultimately decided against it, as he knew his sister would fret and want to return home. While Megumi pointlessly scrolled on his phone to alleviate the boredom, the sound of Gojo's stomach grumbling broke the silence in the waiting area. Gojo had turned sharp green in colour, gripping at his abdomen in pain. Before Megumi could say anything, Gojo sprang up and dove for the nearest restroom. The sound of Gojo vomiting filled the room and left several patients pulling faces of disgust at the noises Gojo was making. A few minutes had passed before Gojo emerged from the restroom, sweating and strained, the man quietly sat down once again to Megumi. The boy had no idea what to say to Gojo in this moment, what could he possibly say? As Megumi was left to wonder this, the name on the screen hanging on the wall read Gojo's name and informed them of what room he was to be seen in.
"Come on, it's your turn. Room 5..." Megumi whispered to Gojo, walking closely to the man as the pair walked down the hallway to a door marked with the number five. The black haired child knocked on the door, where a deep voice commanded them to enter. In doing so, the two sat in designated chairs at the doctor's desk. The doctor in question, was a jolly old man with the most impressive, thick mustache and large spectacles melded into his face.
"Now then, how can I help you Mr. Satoru?" The man asked, taking up a pen to make notes as Gojo spoke. While Gojo explained his symptoms and what had occurred earlier than morning, the doctor made a lot of humming noises as he wrote. Noisly, Megumi leant forward in the chair to try and see what the doctor was scribbling, but he was unable to see clearly enough to decipher it. "Hm, right Mr. Satoru we shall do an examination. Please lay on the bed and lift up your shirt, I'll start my examining your stomach." Much to Megumi's dismay, the doctor took his notes with him as Gojo lay on the bed and drew up his top up. The doctor poked and prodded at Gojo, taking a stethoscope and listening to Gojo's stomach and heartbeat, and lastly finishing by taking the man's temperature. The doctor led Gojo back to his desk, as he waited for Gojo to sit back down, he offered Megumi a Marvel sticker, which the child took.
"Right Mr. Satoru, I felt it is best you are seen to by the local hospital as I suspect you have appendicitis and if so, they'll need to be removed immediately." Gojo blinked in surprise, taking a moment to process the doctor's advice. Appendicitis? Gojo had thought that perhaps he had a case of food poisoning at most, not appendicitis! The doctor tapped away at his computer screen and, on a separate piece of paper, wrote down the department Gojo was to go to in the hospital and handed it to him. "Right Mr. Satoru, please head there now as you are expected. I also suggest arranging care for your son, as you may be required to stay in hospital." For once, Gojo was quiet, his mind racing as he clung onto the piece of paper, looking down to Megumi and back to the doctor. Megumi wanted to correct the doctor, as he called him Gojo's son, but sensed this wasn't appropriate time to do so.
"Thank you doctor...I'll go now." Gojo and Megumi left the room, the pair wordlessly waiting out front for a taxi that would take them to the local hospital. Gojo pulled out his phone and was speaking to someone on the phone, Megumi couldn't quite gage who it was until the call ended and the taxi pulled up to the pair. "Megumi, I've asked Nanami to look after you while I'm being seen to. You know him, he'll take good care of you so please don't cause him any trouble." Megumi looked out of the car window, watching the world whizz past as he allowed Gojo's words to sink in, on top of the situation they were faced with. Would Gojo be OK? Having your appendix taken out would require surgery, wouldn't it? How long would Gojo be in hospital for?
"Megumi" Gojo's voice brought Megumi back down to Earth, the boy turning to Gojo and nodding.
"I won't cause any trouble for Nanami" the child simply stated.
Nanami was already waiting at the hospital entrance when Gojo and Megumi emerged from the car, unamused with this unexpected overtime of the unusual kind. Gojo must have looked awful because Nanami, to Megumi at least, seemed somewhat, ever so slightly, concerned for his wellbeing as he held back on the typical snide remarks as much as he could. "Gojo. You look like shit." The fellow sorcerer commented, looking Gojo up and down. Gojo merely chuckled, arms wrapped around his waist, his hair a dishevelled mess and the bags under his eyes evident despite the man wearing sunglasses. "I'll take care of Megumi, go and take care of yourself." Kento looked down to Megumi, raising an eyebrow to the child as Megumi stared back. "Thank you Nanami, I owe you one." Gojo tapped Kento's shoulder and playfully ruffled Megumi's hair, putting on the best smile he could muster with what little energy he had left at that moment as he walked into the hospital. Megumi watched the automatic doors close behind Gojo, observing intently until Gojo was no longer visible. Kento watched the child closely, noting the behaviour he displayed. Children weren't exactly his thing, nor were they an area of expertise of his, but he figured he could look after Megumi for a day or so, so long as the child wasn't too disruptive which according to Gojo, he wasn't. Now, what was he to do with the child? He was obviously worried about Gojo, so he needed a distraction to take his mind off things.
"Are you hungry?" Kento enquired, looking to Megumi for a response. Megumi nodded quietly, feeling his stomach rumble, as he realised he hadn't so much as eaten breakfast in the midst of the chaos. "Right. I know a place, follow me." Kento Nanami instructed, beginning to walk without waiting for a response from Megumi. Megumi walked by the man's side, his eyes glued to the pavement as the pair walked down the street. Nanami pondered if he should say something, perhaps spark a conversation with the boy. While he was a man of few words, he knew that Gojo was forever chatting away about something and holding conversations was good for a child's development, or so he read on the Google search he did whilst he waited for Gojo and Megumi at the hospital. But what to talk about? The sorcerer was unsure as to what the child liked, disliked and whether he even wanted to talk with him. Before he knew it, Kento had been so lost in thoughts that he'd arrived with Megumi at the café without speaking a word to the child. Well, in his defense the establishment was a mere ten minute walk so it wasn't as though the child was left without conversation for too long.
Megumi followed Kento into a rustic, countryside style café. It was the type of establishment where the chairs and tables were made from wood with gingham cloth covering them and everything was homemade. Kento led Megumi to a secluded table at the back of the restaurant, handing the boy the children's menu to look at. Kento Nanami did not speak much, compared to Gojo who almost never stopped, so the change itself was quite interesting since the two men were friends from what Gojo told Megumi, yet they were almost polar opposite of each other. As the boy examined the menu given to him, a young waiter came to the table to take orders for drinks and food. All the while, the two didn't speak. Kento gave Megumi a colouring page and a pack of crayons that the restaurant gave out to children who visited, but it wasn't the sort of activity Megumi typically entertained, so instead he flipped the page over and began drawing a picture of his own.
"What are you drawing?" Kento asked, thanking the young waiter for their drinks that were placed onto the table in front of them. Megumi ordered a chocolate milkshake and Kento ordered a black coffee. The boy paused in his drawing, taking a large sip of his milkshake before answering Nanami. "It's a picture of me, Tsumiki and Gojo." The boy explained, reluctantly sliding the paper to his side, just enough for Kento to steal a peek at. "Is it for Gojo?" Kento saw the boy nod and upon closer inspection of the drawing, saw a stick figure of Gojo, with an exaggerated smile and tall hair in bed and with two smaller figures beside him, which Kento presumed were Megumi and his sister. "That's kind of you Megumi." Kento remarked, taking up his own beverage to drink. Once again, silence fell between the two as Megumi concentrated on his picture and Nanami observed him, until their food arrived and the two tucked in. Megumi ordered a children's chicken nugget meal and Nanami ordered a chicken wrap. As the two ate, Megumi continued to pick up a crayon and colour whilst using the other hand to shovel food into his mouth. The child wondered if Gojo was ok, if his appendix had been taken out yet and whether or not he'd like the picture he drew for him.
