Caught Up
Chapter 26
Authors note : What caused Lucas's outburst hours after his daughter's birth? Insecurity. Pride. Alcohol filled courage. He was sober during the birth. It was on the way back from picking up the hospital bag did Lucas have a drink. Thank you for the support my reasons. Stay tuned.
I hear something out there calling my name
No matter where I turn it all looks the same.
I need you more than ever before, before.
6 months Later
Brooke has not fully slept through the night since her daughter was born. Bridget's 7 week stay in the NICU. Was the longest most scary time in her life.
But that was thankfully a fading memory now.
Bridget is 6 months old. And is hitting all the milestones she should be. She is alert. Smiles and laughs alot. She's curious.
She likes sweet potato and apples pureed in the morning for breakfast. She likes cereal and a bottle of formula for lunch.
She likes peek a boo and hide and seek. Even though Brooke is normally just shielding her face then not. Which makes Bridget laugh.
Brooke awakes to either cries or babbles in the morning.
She loves car rides and bath time. The swing she uses in the backyard. Playground set up by her uncles.
She has her daughter's schedule written out and doesn't like to change it. But will if needed.
Brooke and Lucas talk about Bridget. Nothing else these days.
The two still living in the home together.
...
The River court Revealed was Lucas's second novel. And to his relief it was a success. But it wasn't getting the same fan attention and public support like his first book got. His claims that Lindsey had been attempting to blackball him in the writing industry wasn't taken seriously. She was well known and respected meanwhile he was a newbie. At this point his writing career and his future in it were on shaky ground at best.
And yet he found himself sleeping in his office more then the guest room downstairs.
Since Brooke wouldn't allow him in their bedroom since that hospital exchange months ago.
He was here every day. And yet she still kept him at arms length. Nothing he said that day was a lie.
Was it his fault she didn't want to face reality.? Lucas thought to himself.
"Come on Bridget Penelope Scott. Let's get you some breakfast. Then a bath. Afterwards you can come to the store with momma." Brooke proclaimed.
Lucas heard from the crack in his office door.
