Prologue
Harry's office, night time.
After the disastrous events of the last set of combat simulations and the loss of operators (transferred to Nighthaven PMC), Harry decided to rearrange his "Spider's nest" to a more comprehensive order. Arranging the data manually was his way of re-assessing what has happened in the past few years of him leading Team Rainbow. Despite the numerous mistakes, he was able to mould the operators from individual specialists to a more comprehensive and flexible team. Individual folders of various operators have also thickened as experiences change their combat styles frequently. Classified folders were there but he mostly gave it to their respective CTUs and other relative organizations, the rest of it were handled by the operators themselves (private matters and such.)
Folder after folder was emptied and posted to the wall, arranged and organized. 4 teams were formed to handle every aspect of what RAINBOW has made to handle: Frontline men who charge to the fire, rescuers who save despite the odds, specialists who access locations silently, enforcers that takes the heat of the public and assist the other teams, and the private sector that can handle themselves well… for a price.
He still included Nighthaven despite the negative effects they made. Kali, despite the vast difference of the two, was still able to provide the team a lot of help for what he "paid" them for. Kali can handle to private and financial side of the military world, while his team… or rather teams will handle to public side, among other things. Harry can still hire the PMC if the need arises, he will just have to handle the backlash if it comes.
Harry breathes a sigh of relief, after finishing the spider's web. His goals can now be handled by the team leaders and independently decide on what to do next without his input. There were still folders in the table, mostly related to threat assessment but he will give it to them in due time.
He looks to his left and a cabinet full of documents still await him. Those contains the REACT protocol, a reactionary measure after the effects of Operation Chimera. The operation itself was a nasty piece of work that was left psychological scars to all who participated. He remembered working overtime as he stabilized and assisted the team of their psychological needs at the aftermath with little to work with (being a classified operation.) Most of the documents about the operation were blotted out and it was strictly handled by RAINBOW only. Whatever were in those documents were the basis of REACT and it was stated that it will only be activated if a similar event were to happen.
He did have access to the follow-up operations in regards to this mess. It was various organizations trying to profit on that conflict. Alien materials were being exported and analysed on undisclosed labs around the world. Everyone was so active that local CTUs were also assisting on closing those labs, destroying all samples, and arresting all those involved.
He opened one of the folders as he looked at the details of an operation in the Ural Mountains in collaboration with the Spetsnaz (Russian CTU.) they were tasked with apprehending a "Mad Scientist" experimenting on an alien material. Further details from the official report were heavily blotted out, so a separate set of reports were filed by the participating operators. They vaguely told a report that 4 members of RAINBOW and the target were suddenly went missing along with laboratory itself. After a few hours, the missing members were found and the target scientist was reportedly dead (body was never found.)
What was interesting is the performance of the 4 operators. It was quite obvious during the simulations that they have improved significantly. Harry asked the other members of the Rainbow, and even called for specialist Zero for his opinion.
Operator Ash:
Eliza was oddly silent in the details of that operation, much tighter than Chimera, heck even Patriots. Even so, her performance this past few days were more than stellar. She is more versatile in her breaching tactics that she barely uses her breaching rounds other than against heavily fortified positions. She is also much more aggressive in using her flashbangs that even Warden was out before he can even use those glasses of his. She was also more open in taking opinions from others that she will try them by the next simulation, regardless if it fails or not. Her taking the lead were also more effective than how she does things in the past.
Is it me or did she also got older? Not just her, the other 3 as well.

Operator Blitz:
Elias is an agile operator, no question about that. But what surprised me was on how he tackles other operators during the simulations. He often operates with someone on his back during breaching and securing objectives. He can now also handle much tougher opponents with ease that even Cav(iera) was surprised on how he was able to keep up with her during CQC trainings. He was also more active in the team in coordination as well, updates on movements and locations were told swiftly and reacts faster after receiving intel. At least he is still jovial as he can be.
If I have my complaints, it his use of the tactical shield. It is taking more beatings than it can usually handle and the use of the "flashes" were more frequent as well. Montagne can agree with me on this since his shield often needs maintenance, the difference in damage to the G52 Tactical Shield were near similar now.
-Elena "Mira" Alvarez
Operator Frost:
Tina is often at her best when hunting in the wild during her downtime. I tend to challenge her of who can track game animals so we can improve ourselves in our craft, regardless of the kind of forest we were in.
After THAT operation though, she is beating me by a huge margin.
Her traps were more diverse and ingenious that I often ask to adapt it for my own hunting traps. She was more silent and practical with the tools on her disposal. She has a higher understanding of her surroundings that she can spot the recruits in full camo gear during one of the outdoor simulations.
During combat simulations, her trap placement was also improved. The welcome mats were notably lighter, easier and faster to deploy, and harder to notice when deployed. Sure, the trade-off was it was easier to get yourself out of the trap but you would be limping hard. Even in full gear, the mats were more painful and makes a louder noise signature that she was able to react more quickly and take out her foes more efficiently. She also improved on her response speed and her plans were more efficient without losing her signature slow-and-steady nature on operations.
I often ask on what material were those new welcome mats were made off, but the answer I receive will always be "a trade secret."

Operator Tachanka:
Alexandr maybe silent this past few days after that certain operations on the Mountains but his trinkets were our only clues in regards on what happened on those four operators.
Spetsnaz and KGB were awfully cooperative giving me access to the remnants of the operation site. In fact, they labelled the site under RAINBOW jurisdiction. With a representative, we entered the lab and saw a set of armoured drawers with various outdoor equipment. The individual drawers can only be opened via a fingerprint scanner of the four participating operators. It seems that the lord's connections were the ones who procured this basic security since the representative has a clear plastic containing his fingerprints for his locker. The light goes green as it confirms the scan and the sound of releasing locks can be heard from the locker. Before we open it though, the guards prepared a separate table and with a nod, they go outside leaving me with the female representative.
When the two of us were alone, she began taking things from locker folders-first. It was written in English but in a somewhat different style or dialect. It was a profile folder of Alexandr with a lot of [Classified] or [For medical staff's eyes only] filling up the profile. What was curious was his designation: Guard Operator –Swordmaster- under of Team RAINBOW (RI affiliate/contractor.) Since when is he able to use a sword anyway, a 6X9 combat knife currently in use by the Russians or those old 6X2 bayonets that he (somehow) able to affix on that MG of his but aside from advanced wrestling, he has no record of having proficiency on swords. I double-checked the folder's contents when I finally noticed that the cover has a slightly faded logo: Rhodes Island Pharmaceutical. I was very confused at this point when the representative called me.
The representative gave me a strong drink on the rocks, then finished hers in one gulp before refilling her glass. She told me to finish my drink first before proceeding with the equipments at the table. Before we get started, I asked her about the folder but apparently, she is just as confused as he is. She added that the other 3 operators also have similar folders under this "Rhodes Island." She gave me 2 ID Cards, one of them were as thick as a smartphone. Tachanka told her that the two IDs were a combat operator ID and the other was a secure keycard for a control room. She commented on what kind of person would give Tachanka (of all people) such authority.
After another drink, she presented me 2 DP-28 machine guns heavily modified for Alexandr to use. She explains that the 1st one was the original DP-28 he was using that comes with a tripod and a glass shield that was gathering dust ever since he pulled out that Shumikha launcher. The 2nd one was a DP-28 after the noted operation, and I immediately notice that this isn't the same gun that he is currently using. A bigger barrel and a bigger drum magazine, a thicker and more adjustable leather sling, the stands were also adjusted and quite sturdy. The ammunition were also an inch longer and half a centimetre wider than the 7.62x54 (which explains the bigger barrel and magazine) but the bullet was made out a black crystalline matter. The entire round has engravings around the case which the centrefire primer was notably red in color. There was no propellant, just the long black mineral that can maybe pierce a person without armor with shrapnel wounds to be expected upon entry. The representative explains that the round can only be fired with that modified DP-28 since they test-fired it in the past. She also explained that the material used as the bullet is similar to the alien materials that the target scientist have as speciments.
The representative briefed me on why she transferred the facility to RAINBOW since they we're the ones equipped to handle such unknowns. She was frustrated that Alexandr's statements and equipment doesn't make any sense that her bosses just decided to lock it all up. She was worried on what to tell his children about their father's exploits. She then proceed to finish the entire bottle before giving me a laptop were all other related intel was found and told me to get everything I needed since he can't bring it back, to be returned in the locker along with the rest of the confusing materials.
The rest of the intel were compiled on the USB Drive included on this report along with the Rhodes Island IDs that the representative were allowed me to bring with a request to give it to the foolish "lord." The representative will continue to stand guard at the facility for now. I hope you can make head or tails out of this "pharmaceutical company" that contracted our operators.
-Samuel "Zero" Fisher
Harry drinks his coffee quicker than he used to as he process all the reports. The IDs were in his hand and its proof that in a short time frame of their disappearance, they participated in this company not only as combat operators but also a part of its management. He contemplates on what to do next but for now, he needs to prepare materials for a second spider's web. Picking up a pen marker, he starts writing a title/heading to be posted above a vacant wall. He looks at it with tired face, expecting a long night of working this new web. He posted it and proceeds to print the rest of the files.
The title of this would be web is: Operation: Originium Dust/ Rhodes Island Pharmaceutical (a detailed report)
Writer's note:
Thank for reading this Fanfic of mine.
This was written as an outlet for my imagination as I play Arknights at the start of the collab event. Even without getting Ash, the R6 team was such a great team for my starter that as time passes it has become my "niche" or self-imposed difficulty spike (along with Abyssal Hunters only and Penguin Logistics only niche teams)
This fanfic contains situations where the R6 team assist Rhodes Island in and out of combat. Even limited event scenarios maybe included if I am able to clear it (and read the majority of its tales.)
