Caught Up

Chapter 27

If we let this go on. It'll just be years of misery for us both.

You just wanted what you wanted

And now you're done with me.

That's you're pattern right.?

Lucas placed down his laptop. And walked out into the entryway towards the kitchen.

"Ma Ma!" Bridget said. With a smile.

"Yes. That's me honey." Brooke replied. As she carefully placed Bridget into her highchair.

"You know i'm capable of watching Bridget here at home. You having her glued to you're side at the store while dealing with customers is way too much. Especially on a daily basis."

"Its been months Brooke. I can care for my daughter without you hovering around. You can trust me with her."

"You should be aware of that by now." Lucas said. Announcing his presence.

Brooke turned to look at him. She sighed deeply.

"I've got it. No need to burden you with having to care for someone else above yourself and you're wants and desires." Brooke replied.

"Yum!" Bridget said. Clapping her hands.

Lucas smiled up at her.

She was all dark hair and hazel eyes. She had her dad's squint and he's pretty sure that's all he took from her.

"I gave you what you wanted. A family. Love. And you continue to focus on the things that don't matter. That's you're problem not mine." Lucas said.

"Lindsey. The bottles of alcohol you seem to continue to buy."

"I live in reality. I'm not sure where you are these days. You come home to us but you aren't really present." Brooke proclaimed.

"Will you shut up about Lindsey!" Lucas exclaimed.

"Ma. Da!" Bridget exclaimed. Putting her hands over ears. As she started to cry.

Their gazes locked on her.

Lucas knew the fighting between them would only continue.

His attempt at gaining information on Lindsey backfired.

She saw through his act and offered a new plan.

They could have a no strings attached arrangement and she would make sure. All the doors for Lucas were open.

When he rejected that offer. She made sure all the doors were closed and locked.
