Caught Up
Chapter 30
I don't want to be that call at 4oclock in the morning.
Cause i'm the only one in the world who won't be home.
The quiet scares me cause it screams the truth.
The night is calling and it whispers to mme softly
Come play.
"Rex Fields.40. Alcoholic. Once i had a wife. Sons. A house. A life that meant something. I lost it all. I haven't seen my boys in a long time. My wife isn't mine anymore. I'm sober now but at what costs?"
"Thanks for letting me share." He proclaimed. Before getting off the podium.
Lucas didn't know what he was doing here. This was such a waste of time.
"I'm not like any of you. I don't belong here." Lucas said.
Rex looked to him. "Maybe you don't. But something brought you here enough to listen. There are meetings in the mornings. Evenings. And at night. You don't get out of this without help."
"Take it from someone who refused it for years until i couldn't anymore." Rex said.
"I shoud go." Lucas replied. He felt the community center. And drove downtown. He loved the nightlight here.
Nobody bothered him or asked questions. He recalls the first round of drinks he ordered. Then dancing. After that hours fell away.
And he felt nothing. And he was thankful for it. The noise is in head over.

Hours Later
In the morning
"Damn it!" Lucas yelled. Realizing only now he had lost his house key. Which meant he would either have to stay on the porch or break in and he wasn't going to stay on display for the neighbors.
He needed a shower. Something to eat. At some point he would have that. But needed another drink. He had fallen asleep at one of the booths. It had been hours now.
He went into the kitchen to where he knew he had hidden some bottles. Only to find them empty. He then went into the office and looked to where he had hidden more and couldn't find any full ones.
Lucas knew then that Brooke had poured it all out.
He was angry and furious. "Brooke!" Lucas shouted.
As he went up the stairs. His car keys were gone too.
He wondered now did he drop them or did someone take them.
"Brooke where the hell are you.?" Lucas questioned.
As he went into the bedroom and didn't find her then went into Bridget's room to find her gone too.
