Chapter 5
John B's POV
I was staying at Tannyhill now. Ward Cameron was taking care of me because of DCS. Sarah, I was just using to get the maps of the island and into the archives at the university. She thought there was something more because she kissed me. I had to keep up the charade especially now. I saw Christina in her dress at midsummers yesterday, she was beautiful. I motioned for her to come with us but she just went the other way. JJ said he gave her the note but she tore it up. I was walking down the steps of the house when I bumped into Rafe.
"Which girlfriend you going to see? My sister or Christina?" He asked smirking.
"I'm not." I told him.
"Good. You probably won't find Christina at home anyways. She went off with some other guy last night in a Camaro." He said walking away.
"Other guy? Who?" I asked.
"Who cares." He called out. I sighed and walked out. I was close to her aunts house so I stopped in over there. I knocked on the guest house door.
"She left this morning." I heard. I turned around and saw her aunt.
"I'm sorry. Uhh. Where did she go?" I asked.
"Who knows. But when you see her, tell her that, that car isn't aloud in the driveway again." She said walking away. Car? I thought. I sighed and headed to the wreck.
"Where's Christina?" Kie asked me.
"Her aunt said she left in some car this morning. No idea where she went." I said sitting down.
"That's some parental supervision." Pope scoffed.
"Dude, I thought you were macking on her?" JJ asked.
"I thought we were too! But she changed her mind I guess!" I said sighing. I shook my head as I thought about it. She wouldn't have ended things without reason. Me being taken by DCS wouldn't have changed things. She was arguing with the lady with me.
"She likes you, dude! She wouldn't have dumped you for no reason." Kie argued.
"Well, she did last night." JJ commented. I snapped my fingers with my non broken arm.
"Sarah! She kissed me at the docks! When we got off the Ferry!" I told them.
"Someone saw and told her. Who would tell her though?" Pope said looking around the table.
"Her two boneheads." JJ said snapping his fingers.
"Didn't they go out of town though?" Kie asked.
"Like a week ago. But they show up in different cars every time." I scoffed. I shook my head and rubbed my face.
"If you want her man, you got to make it right and bring her in on this." Pope said. They all agreed. We discussed the map of the island before I went searching for Christina. I headed to my house. As I walked up I saw a pile of shirts and some shorts on the steps. I threw the clothes inside and headed for my boat. I drove around for awhile. I saw a red Camaro at Heyward's. I docked and walked up to the store.
"Got any Tylenol?" I heard Hardy.
"I do. Over here." Mrs. Heyward said kindly. I walked up to them.
"You've seen my girlfriend Hardy?" I asked him.
"Last I saw and heard, you were kissing another chick and she wasn't your girlfriend anymore." He said chuckling.
"Where is she?" I asked sighing.
"Why should I tell you? You cheated on my girl with another and I'm suppose to be okay with that? Let you say something to make her like you again?" He asked crossing his arms.
"I'm using the girl that you saw. To get something I need. I really care for Christina." I told him.
"Yeah. I've heard that before." He scoffed. He saw my casted arm.
"Who did that to you?" He asked nodding to it.
"The girl I kissed. Her boyfriend pushed me off a tower." I told him. He nodded.
"Hmm. Well deserved. Follow me." He said nodding outside. We walked out to Camaro. He banged on top of the car. I heard someone groan from the inside as he leaned against it.
"Why are you banging on the car so loudly, you idiot?" Christina asked.
"Your boyfriends here." He told her.
"I told you I don't have one." She grumbled.
"Well it's nice to hear it from you." I scoffed. She sat up and took off her sunglasses.
"Why are you here?" She asked huffing.
"I want to talk to you." I told her.
"I'm not in the talking mood." She said putting her glasses back on. She laidback down in the back.
"When will you be?" I asked her.
"Never." She said sighing. I looked at Hardy for help. He rolled his eyes and sighed.
"If you don't talk to pretty boy, I wont get you your burger." He told her. She groaned loudly and sat up again. She crawled across the seat and slid out the window. She staggered when her feet hit the ground. I caught her and steadied her. She slapped my hands away and leaned against the car. She was handed a drink and Tylenol. She took it.
"Talk. I might not listen but go ahead." She said crossing her arms. I nodded over to a table. We walked over and sat down.
"I'm sorry." I told her.
"You could've said that at the car." She said standing up. I grabbed her hand and she yanked away.
"Please. Sit down and listen." I said. She sat back down and crossed her arms.
"I'm just using Sarah. Okay? There were somethings I needed to look at, at the university that I needed to get into the archives, and some maps that her dad has I need look at. But that was it. I don't like Sarah, like I like you. She kissed me and I played into it, so I could get what I need." I told her. Her sunglasses were so dark I couldn't tell if she was looking at me or not.
"How'd you break your arm?" She asked.
"Topper pushed me off the hawks nest." I said. A smile tried to break through, but she bit her lip.
"Hmm. Well deserved." She said nodding.
"Hardy said the same thing." I said laughing.
"Great minds think alike." She said rubbing her head. I moved my chair closer to hers.
"Hey. Why don't you come over to the chateau later? I want to talk with you about some things that I should've already talked to you about." I said grabbing her hand.
"Like what?" She asked. I looked around at everyone.
"I don't want to discuss it out in the open." I said. She just hummed and nodded.
"Baby. Please. Say you'll come to the chateau, and we talk?" I said.
"I'll let you know by showing up." She said nodding. I nodded and stood up. I grabbed her head and leaned down and kissed her.
"I still do like you." I said pulling away. She stood up and walked over to the Camaro. She laid through the window easily, then they were gone. I sighed and went back to my boat. I headed home and started cleaning up. I debated on if I should switch shirts or not. I smelt it and shrugged. I paced as I waited. Part of me wanted to go find her and drag her here and make her listen. But Hardy and Steven might not like that. Then again, she's doesn't listen to anyone.
"Cleaning up for someone?" I heard behind me. I turned around and saw Christina leaned against the doorway. She had changed into some ripped shorts, a tank top and some boots. She looked hot.
"Hi." I said clearing my throat.
"Hey." She said. I motioned her in and she walked in. She walked to the table and leaned against the chair.
"I didn't hear you ride up. Did you walk?" I asked.
"Hardy and Steven had to take the Camaro. So, they dropped me at the end of the road, and I walked." She told me. I nodded.
"So, you wanted to talk. So, talk." She said crossing her arms. We sat down and I took a deep breath. I explained everything to her. From dad going missing to the guys trashing the house, being arrested, I told her everything. She just sat there. She was processing everything.
"Why didn't you tell me everything before?" She asked.
"I don't know. I'm sorry I didn't though." I said.
"Did you not trust me?" She asked.
"I was just starting to get to know you. I don't know why I kept it like this, this long." I said shaking my head.
"I may regret this. But did Sarah know this before me?" She asked. I swallowed hard before answering.
"She knew some of it, yeah." I said nodding. She scoffed and got up. I stood up and grabbed her arm as she went to walk away.
"Don't leave." I said. She yanked away from me.
"Why not? You trusted her before me, John B! Me! I told you things about me, my friends that I shouldn't have! I trusted you!" She snapped at me.
"I know! I know! I should've trusted you, but I didn't! And I'm sorry!" I told her. She went to walk away but I grabbed her arm again. She yanked away again and slapped me. I looked at her. A large, heavy tension fell between us.
"Christina." I started but then she kissed me. I kissed her back. I pulled her against me as the kiss deepened. She pushed away and backed away from me. Her back hit the table beside the fridge.
"No. I shouldn't. We." She said panting. I went over and grabbed her head and kissed her again. She kissed me back again. I picked her up and sat her down on the table. She pulled back and slid her hands to the bottom of my shirt. I lifted my arms and she slid it off.
"Do you have?" She asked. I nodded and kissed her again. I picked her up and carried her to my room. I laid there that night after we finished just watching her as she slept. I pulled her closer, kissed her head and fell asleep.
Christina's POV
I woke up to the sun hitting me in the face. I groaned and sat up. I looked over and saw John B still asleep. I slid out of bed and slid on a shirt and a pair of his shorts. I walked out of the room and went to the kitchen. I started making breakfast for us. I was mixing the batter for pancakes when I felt two arms slide around me. I jumped and turned around. John B smiled and tightened his arms.
"Morning." He said.
"Morning." I said. He leaned down and kissed me. I kissed him back. He picked me up and sat me on the counter. I laughed and put my arms around his neck. He pulled back slightly.
"Breaking up, isn't our thing. Fighting might be if it leads to that." He said smirking.
"We'll have to fight more often." I said kissing him quickly. He hummed. He wasn't letting me go.
"Our food is gonna burn if you don't let me go." I told him. He groaned and pulled me down. I turned back to the stove and continued breakfast.
"Where did you learn to cook?" He asked.
"Hardy's mom." I answered.
"Your mom didn't cook?" He asked.
"She did. But it wasn't food that she cooked." I said looking at him. He gave me a confused look then it hit him.
"Ah." He said. I nodded and looked back at the mixing bowl.
"Hardy and Steven rented a house an hour from here. There's a party tonight. You and the others should come. Kooks will be there, some of our old friends are on their way." I said changing the subject.
"Are you asking me as your boyfriend to go or as a friend?" He asked.
"Am I worthy enough to be trusted?" I asked biting my lip.
"Yes. I trust you, Christina. I trust you with everything. My secrets, my life, everything! What do I need to do to get you to see that?" He said crossing his arms.
"Just give me a kiss and tell me you like me." I said shaking my head. He grabbed my head and kissed me deeply.
"I really, really like you." He said pulling away.
"Then I'm asking you as my boyfriend." I told him.
"You're a pain in the ass, you know that?" He asked laughing. I nodded and chuckled. He kissed me again. It got deepened really quick. I pushed him away and removed the pan from the stove. John B grabbed my hand and took me back to the bedroom. He drove me home to my aunts house and I invited him inside.
"Where's she at?" He asked as we walked into the guest house.
"Who knows." I said shrugging. I went to my room and he flopped on the bed.
"We're taking this bed home with us." He said groaning. I laughed and took out my clothes for the night. I looked at him and he was looking at me.
"What?" I asked him.
"How's Hardy gonna react to us being back together?" He asked.
"He'll be mad then he and I will argue about it and then it'll be over with." I said shrugging.
"Why would he be mad?" He asked.
"It's been Hardy and me since we were kids. Like you and JJ. He protects me and I protect him." I said sitting on the bed.
"I think he likes you." He scoffed.
"What can I say? I'm very likable with everyone." I said smirking.
"I meant more as a friend, dingus." He said grabbing my pillow. I looked down at my hands.
"I know. I know he likes me more as a friend. But I don't feel the same way he does. It would be like JJ liking you in more than the brotherly way. You won't feel the same way. Hardy knows I know. He just wants the best for me." I told him.
"Poor guy. Watching the girl he likes be with another guy." He said.
"He's fine. He's been with other girls since so, it's fine." I said shrugging. He hummed and leaned back in the bed. He looked around and sat up on his elbows.
"Whose shirt is that?" He asked pointing. I looked over at the table. It was Topper's button up.
"Toppers. He gave it to me when I wanted to get out of my dress after Midsummers." I told him.
"Topper? Sarah's Topper?" He scoffed.
"Yup. I was about to suffocate in my dress, I demanded a shirt, and he was the first one to give up his button up. I put it on, slid off my dress, with my shorts on still underneath, and was free of the dress." I said.
"You got undressed in front of them?" He asked sitting up.
"No. I slid the shirt on over the dress, buttoned it up, slid my arms into the shirt, took off the dress, slid my arms back through, and slid the dress off the rest of the way." I said shrugging.
"So, they didn't see anything?" He asked. I sat up on my knees and grabbed his head.
"No, they didn't. Only person that'll see me with barely anything on would be you." I told him.
"Good." He said.
"Well unless they see me in a bikini then we can let their imagination travel." I said giggling. He groaned and flopped back on the bed. I laughed.
"I don't want to think of anyone else thinking of my girlfriend like that." He said huffing.
"Well, I don't want anyone else thinking of my boyfriend shirt less but I bet some girls do." I scoffed. I got up off the bed and went to my bathroom.
"We need to take this bed home." He said groaning.
"Home?" I asked.
"Yeah. The Chateau. You spend most of your time there unless you're doing something to impress Satan. We need this bed." He said. I looked out at him. I went over and poked him in the side. He groaned.
"I don't see why you like it so much. It's not that comfy." I said crossing my arms.
"It's better than my bed." He said.
"I beg to differ." I scoffed. He sat up and swung his legs over.
"My bed is more comfy than this one?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yes. Yes, it is. Sleep isn't good on this thing as it is yours." I said shaking my head. He hummed and pulled me onto the bed. He pulled me into his side and sighed. I relaxed instantly. I rolled over and placed my chin on his chest.
"It's you. You've ruined my sleeping ability." I told him. He laughed.
"My fault." He said. I nodded and looked up at him. He looked content.
"You know this is my bed from Tennessee. You can have it all you want. I barely sleep here anyways." I said shrugging.
"We'll load it up later then." He said smiling down at me. I gave him a quick peck before getting up.
"Where are you going now?" He groaned.
"You said we had to meet your friends at the old fort place." I said changing clothes. He got up with a huff.
"But forreal can we take the bed with us later?" He asked.
"Yes, we can." I told him. I walked out and grabbed my phone off the table.
"Ready?" I asked him.
"I don't want you going." He said quickly. I crossed my arms.
"Why not?" I asked.
"I don't want you hurt." He replied.
"But it's okay if your friends get hurt?" I scoffed. I stared at him.
"She's gonna be there isn't she? Sarah?" I asked.
"No. I don't think. But baby, I don't." He started. I shook my head and pointed to the door.
"I don't want to hear it. Leave. I don't want to fight right now; I don't want to do anything. Go. Just go." I told him. He sighed and crossed his arms at me.
"You heard her, John B. Leave." Hardy said walking in. John B jumped and turned around. I walked up to Hardy. He had a bruised eye and a busted lip with a swollen nose.
"What the hell happened?" I asked grabbing his face. He pulled away and shook his head.
"Run didn't go well this time." He said.
"Steven?" I asked.
"We're all okay. He's with Tony getting checked." He told me.
"Tony's here?" I asked.
"Yes, and he's waiting to see you." He said laughing. I smiled and turned to John B.
"Go do your thing. It's fine. I'll send Kie the address." I told him.
"Or you can just ride with those Kooks that seem to like her very much. They seem cool." Hardy said. John B glared at him. I elbowed Hardy making him cough.
"It's fine, John B. Go." I said nodding. He walked out and I rolled my eyes.
"Get changed again. Let's go." Hardy told me. I huffed and went to change again.
