Third Person's POV
They have arrived at his apartment. Jim opened the door and let Mayim inside. It was her first time to be inside and she saw what she was expecting. The design of his apartment was just like his personality. It was simple and the colors are very elegant. Nothing screams pompous but it was very homey. He lead her to the living room and asked her if she want any refreshments. She only asked for water. While he went ahead to grab the water she asked for, Mayim roamed her eyes around his place, there were paintings that he believes might be a gift from his mother who loves to paint.
There were photos of him and Kaley and some friends that she isn't familiar with. It's her first time seeing Kaley's photos since they haven't been introduced to each other in person yet. Of course, Jim had mentioned her a lot when they talk about the people in their lives. And she doesn't know why she kind of feels envious. She is really pretty, sexy and has hair of gold. Living where they are situated which is Hollywood, this is the type of girl that men would fight over. Not to mention her body's curve. Jim and Kaley had known each other longer than she and Jim does and she is scared that Jim might realize one day that he is actually in love with her. What will she do?
She picked up the photo and stared at it and was lost in her thought that she didn't notice Jim being back from the kitchen and found her staring at the photo.
"Oh, you found Kaley!" he said as he gave her the glass of water. "This was us during our freshman year. A lot of people had teased me that I was gay or too feminine for a man before that. When we became friends, people thought that we were dating and they stopped teasing me. And then it was her to call me like that," he said with nostalgia. He didn't notice Mayim's sulking expression right away but once he caught it, he made her turn around with a frown on his brows.
"Are you okay?" he asked her as she seems to brood and tries to hide it with a timid smile.
"I am fine," she lied avoiding his gaze. He knows better than that.
"Hmm, look at me and tell me you're fine," he said and made her face him. He then looked at the picture frame again and grinned. "Are you jealous?" he grinned.
She immediately reddened and sat on his couch and drank the water as he continued to laugh. "I don't appreciate you laughing at me for that. I know it's childish..."
He sat down next to her and held her hands," Why the hell would you be envious of Kaley? Of all people..." he wondered as he whispered the last part. He doesn't see anything that makes her feel envious.
"You've talked about her a lot but I never realized how pretty she is," she replied still not looking at him.
"Uhh... to you. But not to me. Do you know what her farts smell like? Totally unappealing and a threat to mankind" he confessed making Mayim frown at him.
"But that doesn't change the fact that she is pretty! I mean look at her. How are you not drooling over her? If I were you, I would pounce at her the minute I'd meet her," she reasoned not looking at him. Jim shook his head in derision and made her face him.
"Mayim, I always had Kaley as my friend. Only that nothing more. I have been like a brother to her and she is like a sister to me. You know, just like you and Chad. I am sure that you and he were friends way before he met Chanel. And before those years, have you ever thought of dating Chad?"
"Ew no! God no! I love the guy but no," she quickly repulsed. But she does get him.
"See? She is like that to me," he said rubbing his thumbs on top of her hand. "I only have eyes for you. Only if you could see yourself in my point of view, you'll know," he confessed looking down at their hands. She just looked at him tenderly. This man's mine. Just mine. "But to ease your mind, because I don't really want to give you a reason to be jealous of anybody, let's hang out. The three of us. Or you can also invite Jenna and Chad over. You'll understand that Kaley would be nothing to me but a friend. She is in love with her boyfriend and I think that they are even planning to be engaged soon. I understand that you are only feeling that because you are not anticipating what she looks like. And it's my fault since I didn't think of showing you a photo of her or making the 2 of you meet each other. But, there's nothing to be envious about her," he assured her as he explains and looked intently into her eye.
She nodded and looked him in the eye and sighed. "Your empathy is amazing. I don't need to explain my side because you already know what I feel and why I felt it. And you are my boyfriend. Not a lot of girls can be lucky like I am," she added. It was now his turn to blush.
"I just hope that I could be the man you deserve May. I promise for our relationship that I will do my best to make you feel that you are important and that everything you have felt from your past relationship ends there. You will never feel that you need to beg for anything because I will give you everything that I could. I will promise to make you feel that you are enough because you are," he said kissing her knuckles. "It is not a competition!" he exclaimed. "Don't feel pressured to do anything back. I am not and will not ask for it. I do this and all of it for you because I want to. It's not an obligation really but it is something I want you to feel being with me."
"Oh, Jim..." she says cupping his face. He is sweet. There really is a kind of love that a person is willing to give in words and in acts without you asking. "I don't know what to say..."
"Then don't say anything!" he teased making Mayim giggle and kiss him. "Your kisses are enough. And you being my girlfriend is enough. I won't ask for anything else. Well, at the moment," they both laughed.
They decided to take it slow not because they are feeling uncomfortable but because they are still adjusting from being best friends to lovers. It is now a different setup since they are now a couple and not just friends and some things need some getting used to. There is not much difference really but they are still trying to figure out what they want and what to give in this relationship. As for Mayim, being in a new relationship after a long toxic relationship is a new and kind of uncharted territory. She's only been with 1 man and that man broke her so that she almost didn't want to be in a relationship again. But she knows that Jim is different. Her gut tells her so. And from the personality he showed from the beginning of knowing each other, he showed nothing but consistency. For Jim, he needs to change some things here and there since it was such a long time since he last dated somebody. He wants to work it with Mayim. She is the only person that makes him feel emotions that he hasn't felt with anybody before.
Honestly, he is still equally conflicted about whether he feels all of these towards Mayim because he knew her history with him in their past life and just feels the need to accomplish their (Sheldon and Amy) wish to be together again. But he also genuinely likes and loves Mayim as she is. She is someone that he want to be with for the rest of his days. He still shakes his head at the idea of how smitten he is with her. But who wouldn't be? All he thinks right now is how we would be the rightful person for her.
Jim
Jim came to the office in such a great mood that he was singing a song as he came inside their workplace. When he woke up Monday morning, he had received emails of commissions that he needs to finish this week and so here he is at work in a great mood. He spent his weekend with his girlfriend in his apartment and after that, they have become inseparable. But Sunday afternoon, his lady love needed to be home since she needs to be in a meeting with the publishing company about her novel. They didn't want to be separated but the weekend was filled with kissing and cuddling. But because they are still taking things slow, there was no sex involved.
"You're in a great mood Mr. Loverboy!" Kaley poked as she arrived at the workstation minutes after Jim arrived. Jim just smiled at her.
"Of course! The last time I was here, I was still single. But now, I have a girlfriend who gave me Amaya B's first printed copy of her newest novel and had her sign it and also became my girlfriend!" he bragged as Kaley came close and hugged him. Kaley poked her finger in his ribcage and laughed with him.
"I am so happy for you! At last! I'll stop selling you to other girls!" she exclaimed. But then she recalled what Jim said. "Wait, you already had the printed copy of Amaya B's new novel? How is that possible? They didn't publish yet?! They only mentioned on Twitter that she will have a comeback."
He slipped. He should've been conscious about it and also not forgotten that he and Kaley are both fans of Amaya. Mayim made him promise to not reveal her identity and even if Kaley is not a stranger to him, he should respect his girlfriend's wishes. He needs to construct an alibi that should be convincing at least for Kaley. "W-well, you know that Mayim is also an author right? For children's books?" she nodded. "She happens to be friends with Amaya and works with the same publishing company so as a gift, she had given her a copy of the book. Mayim knows how big of a fan I am of Amaya so she gave it to me."
"You lucky duck..." she nods her head with a smirk on her face. "But can I borrow when you are done?"
"No! It's my girlfriend's gift. Get your own! Or get your boyfriend to buy you one," he said told her making Kaley roll her eyes at him. "Just kidding. I will buy you one when it will be published. I promise."
"Okay you promised that!" she smiled and walked to her workstation to begin with work. But before she could enter her space, Jim called her out. She turned her head and walked back and asked him what.
"Believe it or not but you are my best friend, and I would want you to meet my girlfriend and her friends if that's okay with you and if you are not busy and clinging to your boyfriend this Friday," he asked.
"Best friend...hmmm, not sure," she pretended to think and rub her thumb under her chin and looks up. Jim just gave her an annoyed face," Just kidding. Yes, I will be free. Text me the location okay?" she said nonchalantly. "Thought you'd never introduce me to Mayim. It took this much time for me to finally see the woman who made this person who has a heart of stone to be a human again," she shook her head.
"Oh shut up...You know that I don't want to impose and also, I would love for the 2 of you to meet. I am just scared that she will stop talking to me because I know who you are. You'll tell her embarrassing stories about me," he brood.
"Of course, that's how a girlfriend and the girl best friend bond," Jim just shook his head.
"Anyway, be there okay?"
"Of course, anything for you old chum!" she made a clicking sound at him and winked at him.
And to think that Mayim is jealous of you... he thought to himself as he prepared to start on his own work to do.
Mayim
Mayim had just gotten done with another meeting for her publication when Jenna sent her a message saying she was about 10 minutes away. So she went to her living room to wait for her friend's arrival and to text Jim that Jenna was a few minutes away now. It was 3 pm on a Friday, and Jim and Kaley were finishing up commissions, Chad sent a message moments ago that Chanel couldn't go because of an appointment in Hollywood. She was there alone but not bored, she was excited and thrilled. Jim's friend who she had heard about a lot will meet the friends that she has.
But one thing was bugging her mind, the vivid dream she had almost a week ago. It puzzles her why it sounds all too familiar yet she doesn't recall it ever happening in real life. Did she only dream it because Jim had told her the story about the portrait and she just happened to look like her? She does not know. While still pondering her thoughts, she heard her doorbell ring. She immediately opened the door and there was Jenna wearing a wide teasing smile.
"Hey~" she greeted as Mayim stood beside the door to let her in.
"How are things at home?" Mayim asked as they both sat on her couch. Mayim offered her if she would want a beverage and she politely declined.
"Well, you know same-same. Nothing new. How about you though, the new man, Jim? I would race you to get to be with him but I knew he had an eye on you," she said giving her a knowing look. Mayim just giggled at her.
"What do you mean?"
"The way he looks at you like you were the only person in the room. There were a lot of people in the places we visited but those eyes could only single you out from the crowd." Mayim just smiled and sighed. Yep, she has that kind of a man now. "Not to compare it to the dimwit you use to date. Thank God, you listened and noticed Jim. I am genuinely happy and proud of you because of that," she squealed at Mayim who just rolled her eyes.
"Thank you. But how about you and your casual buddy?"
"Oh him..." as always, the two of them spent the whole afternoon catching up about each other's business.
Mayim listens intently to the stories of her friend. It has been months since they met each other and she was not able to talk to her regularly over the phone because of her schedule from her impending publication. They decided to make something for a snack since that's what they loved doing ever since they were little. They both agreed to bake brownies from scratch. Mayim's pastries were popular in potlucks when they were still in college and she has yet to learn her secret for her brownies. While preparing the ingredients, Jenna noticed that ever since she came to her apartment, it was only she who did all the talking. Mayim was all smiles but she could tell that something was bothering her.
"Hey, what's on your mind?" Jenna asked as she slumped her body next to her who was just sifting flour. Mayim looked her in the eye and sighed. She really can't hide anything from her, doesn't she?
"To stop what you are thinking, no it's not about Jim. He has been great. I am not lying, you saw that already. It is just this dream I had almost a week ago. I don't grasp what it is. I almost want to say that it's not a dream at all," she confessed as she mixed the wet ingredients with the dry.
"What do you mean? A dream that is not a dream at all? Did it seem real?"
"Y-yeah...But it's not a lucid dream or a vivid dream. It's like a memory," she explained. Jenna just looked at her with a confused facial expression. "Remember the portrait that looked exactly like me from that museum?"
"Yeah, how would I forget that? It was the spitting image of you," she sat in the aisle anticipating her to continue.
"Right. Jim happened to be the one who restored the portrait and so he had told me the background story of the portrait as his suggestion for the next novel I am about to begin with right after my publication," she began. "After he told the story, we were in a bit of tears. And so I thought that I would pick his idea and base my new novel on it. When I came to sleep, I immediately dreamt about it."
" And? What had happened?" Mayim told her the details of her dream making Jenna interested.
"You were wearing a victorian dress right?" Jenna asked as she tried to remember what they read in the info from the museum about the portrait. "I remember that the portrait was made during the 1800s so it's appropriate since that was the style of their clothing at the time. But what's making me bewildered by your dream are their names. Where can you possibly pick Amelia? You never named any of your characters Amelia. Did you see the name somewhere before you went to bed that night?" Mayim shook her head no. She didn't recall calling anybody by the name of Amelia. Of course, she knew people who were named like that but she wasn't thinking about them before going back to bed.
"But this is where it gets a bit crazy Jen. When I asked Jim for their names the morning I woke up, he told me that Amy's real name was Amelia and Amy was just a nickname," Jenna was too stunned to speak.
She raised both her hands in her bewilderment and placed them on both sides of her face. "Are you saying you're Amelia? Because you look like her and in your dream, you were in her point of view. And Sheldon looks exactly like Jim. Is this some of that reincarnation crap? Like that kid who claimed to be Princess Diana in his past life? Did Jim know about this?"
"No. I didn't tell him yet. It freaks me out. And you know his humor, he might just joke about this. And I might just be imagining things since I got invested and interested by the tale he told me," she shrugged. "But not knowing what the dream suggests, bugs me."
"Well, you can find it out if it bugs you that much. You are living in Hollywood, there are a lot of dream interpreters in this area. Try to find one, they might give you a hunch," Jenna suggested as she licked the batter from the rubber scrapper. Mayim nodded. She would consider it as sometimes she'd find videos of it online and she'd see that somehow it was accurate to the person that they were reading it to.
"I'll try that. Thank you for the suggestion," she smiled at Jenna. "Now, let's bake this bad boy."
Third Person's POV
After their baking session, Mayim and Jenna prepared to meet the others at a restaurant which Kaley highly suggested. Jim told Mayim that if she trusts his taste, she should trust Kaley more. After receiving the location and time of reservation Jenna and Mayim carpooled to go there as Jenna learns from her mistake of sharing a ride with Chad. They bought their baked good and planned to share them with the group. Once they arrived, Mayim came inside to adjust as she was anticipating, Jim was already inside. They were seated at a table near the bathroom which was a bit far from the main entrance of the restaurant. Beside him was Kaley who seemed to be engrossed in her conversation with whoever she was talking to via FaceTime. Jim was just ignoring Kaley and was just using his phone. As Jenna and she were approaching their table, her phone vibrated, and saw a text message from Jim.
Take care on your way here, sweety. And eyes on the road to whoever is driving. I can't wait to see you again , his text reads.
She just shrugged and giggled. She then walked faster and stood near the table. Jim immediately saw her and flashed a sweet smile and seeing that her hands were full he got the things from her hand and placed them on the table and gave her a cheek kiss so as to not show too much public display of affection. Seeming to forget that there were people around them, Kaley cleared her throat making the both of them startled.
"Sorry," he smiled apologetically. "Mayim, this is Kaley. Kaley this is Mayim, my girlfriend," introducing her as his girlfriend gives him chills. It's a wonderful feeling. To tell others that they are in a relationship.
Mayim was about to offer her hand when Kaley tugged her closer to her and give her a hug, "It's finally nice to meet you. The lady who turned my best friend's stone-cold heart warm again!" they all laughed. Mayim then introduced Jenna to Kaley offering a handshake and giving a side hug to Jim.
As they sat down, Mayim offered her brownies to them. But Jim had told Kaley to not spoil herself and just save it for dessert which made them laugh. They were like seeing a sibling rivalry. The eldest vs. the youngest. Moments later, Chad came alone while grooving without music. He greeted Jim as he missed seeing him and having a man in their circle who was not a scum bag. He also greeted everybody and sat down.
As they placed their order, they mentioned what they do for a living. Jenna mentioned that she was working as a healthcare worker in a private hospital in Palmdale. And Chad is an actor who appeared in some roles on television and a few TV commercials. Kaley was amazed. They were friends for a very long time but they all took different paths. One took a path in journalism, one in healthcare, and one in multimedia. It was fascinating. The banter from the 3 was hilarious. He can see much of Jim and her relationship with the three of them. They poke and tease one another without taking it too personally. But not anything that was out of the line.
"Mayim wrote books because when we were in high school, she liked to daydream and would like to write about it. She was imaginative. Chad likes to do that too. But he needs to be alone once he does that," Jenna chaffed making them laugh.
"Well Jenna, worked as a residential nurse to steal the hospital's stock of riboflavin in hopes to make herself taller," he replied making Jenna glare at her. Chad then petted the top of her hair as everybody laughed again. "Love you little one," he said apologetically.
When the laughter died down, Kaley asked about Mayim's books. "So Mayim, Jim tells me that you are a children's book writer?" she asked as she bought a mouthful of food in her mouth. Mayim looked at Jim with a questioning look. Chad and Jenna just looked at each other knowing that Jim might have not mentioned it to her yet.
"You told me to not tell everybody. I included her," Jim shrugged. Mayim giggled and sighed. "Well, can I tell her? She's a fan too and you know that already. Crazier than me," he whispered to her. She just nodded in approval and Jim cleared his throat and said," Kaley, I know that you will kind of hate me for this but I lied."
"Lied about what?" she said confused.
"Mayim wrote the books you love. Including the one I told you about, Private Eyes. Amaya B. is Mayim's pseudonym," he confessed as he gently rubbed Mayim's back. Mayim just looked down as she still gets a bit uncomfortable being recognized as an author.
Kaley's eyes widened and dropped her jaw. She then quickly covered her mouth and looked at Mayim with a shocked expression. "You're lying!" she exclaimed to Jim still not believing anything. Jim just shook his head no. "Mayim..." she looked at her about to cry. "If this is a prank I swear to God I will stab you here, James Joseph!"
"I am not..." he giggled. She looked at Chad and Jenna as they nodded and giggled at her reaction.
"Jim told me how of a big fan are you of my work. So I have a gift for you," Mayim grabbed something inside her purse, and what she pulled out made Kaley's eyes water.
"Kaley, it's just a book. Nobody died. Look!" Jim teased her. Kaley just slapped his arm and went close to Mayim to give her a hug.
"This is mine?" she asked Mayim as she held her chest still not grasping everything.
"No, hers," Chad pointed to a waitress waiting at a table next to them making them laugh.
"All of you knew she was Amaya?" they all nodded. "And you kept it from me? I thought we were best friends?" she turned to look at Jim.
"We are but I just respected Mayim's wishes. She doesn't want to be recognized. Only her books."
"Oh my God, my best friend is dating my favorite author!" she realized making all of them giggle with her quirk. "If he did something stupid, tell me Mayim. I am on your side and I will smack the life out of him."
They spend the evening knowing a bit more about each other. They all went along great. They could say that just like Jim, Kaley was a wonderful addition to their group. As they were talking, and finished their meals, they started to eat what Mayim baked earlier. It was one of the best-tasting brownies Jim had tried.
"So what's your secret?" Jim asked her as he savors the flavor of the fudge brownies.
"I also don't wash my hands, just like you do when you cook," she replied making Jim laugh and kiss her cheek in amusement.
"A baker, a beau, a novelist, what can't you do?" he whispered into her ear.
"Oooh, flirty are we?" she quipped back in a whisper.
Their whispers began to be noticed by the rest of them. "Why don't the two of you get a room?" Chad chastised as he started to cringe at their actions.
"Really? You and Chanel are far worse than that when you're together. Let them be," Jenna reprimanded him and winked at the lovers.
"But actually, Jim is never like this to other people he dated. He's actually timid, aloof, and kind of awkward," Kaley whispered to Jenna.
"Really? When we met him, he was very easygoing. He is very good with words and very gentleman like. Unlikely to be like everything you said," Jenna whispered back at her as Chad listened to their conversation.
"I agree. He was very much like this," Chad added. "That's why we became acquainted and friends on the first night we all hang out. That was with my girlfriend. I am sure she would love to meet you, Kaley."
"I would love to meet her soon as well. " Kaley smiled at them. Sure she has a lot of friends. But most of them only like to talk about problems and the issues they have with their boyfriends. Their talk this night was just all about anything and it is such a nice time.
As the night progressed, they just continued to talk, laugh and poke at each other. Mayim only had a small number of people she allows to be in her life because the lesser the people, the lesser the drama. And with the small circle, she had now with a new addition, it was still great. Kaley was a great company. She was quirky, sweet, and talkative. The conversation they had all night never had a dull moment. And now she finds her jealousy as a ridiculous notion.
As they all went home, Jim and Mayim shared a ride and separated from the group after the exchanges of hugs, goodbyes, and promises to stay in touch. She truly had a wonderful time with her friends and now her lover. Now they are inside a car on a quiet ride on their way to Mayim's apartment.
"Nothing to be jealous about, right?" Jim asked her as he gently caressed her knee while driving.
"Yeah, I feel absurd for feeling that. But she really is pretty, funny, and everything that is not small and feisty like Jenna. We should all hang out next time because I like her so much," she confessed giggling.
"I am glad that you do. I am sure she likes you too. Maybe even too much. And not just because you're Amaya," he snorted. And it went silent again. Mayim was just looking out the window smiling when Jim asked her, "Mayim, I talk to a lot of people for my job and I collaborate with some people for commissions. I just want you to know that if ever a person, regardless of their gender would make you feel uncomfortable, tell me okay? I don't want you to feel things that would make you insecure. In my world, you are the only woman I would ever take interest in and that will never change and if you doubt that please tell me because I don't want you to feel any of the sort," he confessed still looking at the road. Mayim just stared at him tenderly.
"Of course," she said and gently turned his head to peck him quickly on the lips.
Jim looked at her with mouth wide open shocked at her affection and blushed. "Are you gonna kill us both? Your kisses make me weak, Mayim! So don't kiss me while driving, I will lose control of the steering wheel and would crash both of us," he fakes chastised making Mayim giggle.
And they continued the ride being sweet with each other till they arrived at the curb at the corner of the street to her apartment complex. Jim pouted and sighed as he took his seatbelt off, went outside, and opened the door for her. A gesture that he always does whenever they go outside as friends and he still does it now that they are now a couple. The consistency that doesn't falter...
He walked her to her door holding her hand and walked side to side remembering the hilarious things that happened in the restaurant.
"When you go inside, clean up and hit the sack already okay? Don't burn your retinas more by scrolling on TikTok," he advised as they reached her door.
"You sure you don't want to go inside to have some tea?" she asked. Jim just shook his head no and kissed her hand before letting it go.
"I'm okay, and you're tired. You had a lot of meetings today and even took the night off to have dinner with us, you get some rest," he gently said and rubbed his hand to her cheeks. "I have to go, I will shoot you a message once I arrive home. Sleep well my princess," he added kissing her forehead.
"Thank you for tonight, I'll wait for your text. Eyes on the road, and don't think too much about me," she reminded him making him chuckle. "Good night sweet pea," grabbing him by the nape and kissed him on the lips. Jim melted and rested his hands on the curve of her waist and smiled after pulling from the kiss.
Mayim
After receiving a text from Jim confirming that he was home, Mayim then went ahead and got cozy in her bed after changing into her pajamas and washing up. She shoots a goodnight text to her friends and sent another text to Jim before unconsciously drifting off to sleep. She immediately became aware that she is now already dreaming. But it seems to look like a memory again rather than a dream that is confusing and does not make any sense at all.
She looked around at where she was standing and saw people limping and asking other people for help. They look pale, helpless, and desperate for medical attention. There were a few people there who were helping to carry out people in care who were wearing this strange black mask with a beak in it. Some people in the streets were dying and some were already decaying. Most people carried on and didn't mind the rotting sight since they are desperate to be helped and cared for. They were stepping on corpses and some vehicles ran by them too. It was a gruesome and pitiful sight yet she couldn't do anything about it.
Still looking around at the dreadful sight, something caught her attention. She heard a man yelling for help carrying a lifeless woman. He was at a distance from her so she couldn't make out of the face of the man but his voice was familiar. She went close to the direction of the anguished man and it was confirmed. It sounds like Jim and there he was carrying Amy to what appears to be her in a casual brown victorian dress. People who were in masks went close to his direction to assist him.
She heard a person beside her whisper, "Poor Lord Sheldon...Lady Amelia had gone far too soon," one said. Another one agreed, "She didn't even get to walk down the aisle of our church to be married. May God welcome her in the gates of heaven," a person added.
After hearing these strangers talk about the lady he was carrying, she went ahead and come closer to Sheldon. He looked morbid, he was inconsolable even after the people who seem to be health workers already took care of her corpse. He was left there standing staring blankly and went inside the house. Mayim immediately followed him inside. He then went inside a room and lay in the bed with a lady's camisole. He brought it next to him and cried more. He was grieving and it must've hurt a lot. It must be hard for him to witness his loved one die right in front of him. Mayim tried to rub his back to console him but she seems to be invisible. If only she could take away that sorrow. She knows that it's not Jim but he looks exactly like him. Imagining Jim in this position makes her heart break into pieces.
She can't help but cry for the pain he was feeling. He was curling in bed howling still holding the piece of clothing of probably Amy's. His wails were contagious making her weep as well. She was standing behind him until he spoke barely as he continued to sob, "I wish that it was me rather than you. I don't know what to do with life now that you're not here. I'll miss you tomorrow when nobody will wake me up with a kiss on the cheek, I will miss you tomorrow when I will buy flowers and you weren't there to receive them, I'll miss you later at night when I can't hear you wish me goodnight and, I will miss you at dawn when you wrap your arms around me. You're not here anymore, Amy but I will celebrate the memories we had. You made me became a better son, a friend, and a better half. I love you and only you even in the afterlife."
Hearing him profess his feelings towards her beloved who just passed makes her heart aches more. She was already in tears and was already weeping when she can hear someone call her name.
"Mayim! Mayim! Wake up!" the voice called gently rubbing her arms so as to not startle her from sleeping. When she opened her eyes, Jim was already in her room sitting at her bedside. Mayim quickly roused from the bed and wrapped her arms around Jim and cried into his shoulder. Jim rubbed her back to calm her down. "Did you have a nightmare?" he asked still gently rubbing her back. "I'm sorry I barged inside your apartment. I could hear you cry from outside so I used the spare key you gave me," he explained not letting her go. Mayim just held him tight and didn't say anything.
Once she calmed down, she held Jim's hand "I need to tell you something but I need to brush my teeth quickly," she jumped from the bed and went inside her bathroom.
"I am fine with your morning breath, Mayim," he yelled outside the bathroom door smiling. "I will just prepare the breakfast I bought you and tell me everything over breakfast okay?" as soon as he asked he went outside the prepare their meal.
Jim
As he and served their breakfast on their plates, Jim heard the rustling of Mayim's footwear and hugged him from the back. "Good morning," she said as she sniffed Jim's scent. He placed the plate that has the breakfast sandwiches on the table and turned around to cup her cheeks and bring it closer to kiss her.
"Good morning indeed," he said after giving her a chaste kiss. "Why were you crying while you were asleep? Does this happen often?" he asked as they both sit down.
"No, this doesn't happen usually," she confessed drinking the coffee he bought. "What I'm about to tell you is kind of weird. It's freaking me out a little but hear me out."
Her tone of voice makes him uncomfortable. It sounds like it's so serious. "That sounds too serious... but please do tell me," he said nodding his head for her to continue.
"Well I have dreamt about this thing twice and it kept on bugging me because I don't know what it means," she started fiddling with her fingers anxiously. "I kept on dreaming about a woman who looks like me whose name is Amy and a man who looks exactly like you whose name is Sheldon," she said not looking at him. His eyes widened and suddenly he recalled in his memory that Nana mentioned that she may pick some of the memories on her own. He was speechless.
"W-when did the first one happen? What are they about? Do you remember all of them? And when was the last one?" he stuttered wondering if he had the same dreams that he had or had seen during the crossover.
"Wait, calm down. Uhm...I dreamt about it the first time the night when you told me the story about Amy and Sheldon's story for the novel. I saw..." she started to tell her dream. He did saw it during the crossover, he remembers the lilac dress with a white laced corset on the day of their engagement announcement. He remembers seeing it but his point of view was as an audience from the crowd. He could never forget how Amy's face glowed in happiness as Sheldon announced their rendezvous with the people of San Gabriel Missionary. But the difference was she was Amy in her dream.
She then proceeded to tell the story of last night's dream. She told him what she saw in this morbid scenario of when Amy had passed amidst a tragic plague that took the lives of many individuals.
" And that's how you found me today in bed. That's the reason," she ended her tale. Jim just looked at her.
"Well what do you feel about it? Does it weird you out?" he said as he took a sip from his mug.
"A little bit, yes. But how about you? Does it weird you out too?" he just smiled at her and shook his head no. "Really? Because I hesitated to tell you the first time because I thought that you'd only tell me that I think about you all the time and that I'm crazy about you that's why you are now appearing in my dream," she explained as he scoffed.
"You'd think that I'd ridicule you for this huh? But actually, I am the one here who's crazy about you but if you feel the same way, hey I won't complain" he giggled looking at her. He then sighed and held her free hand. "I know that you might have a lot of questions, I could answer them for you but it's better that you'd be the one who'd seek the answer yourself."
"And what do you propose?" she asked looking him in the eye.
"I'll arrange my schedule today since there are only a few emails I need to respond to. Are you free today?"
"I have a scheduled meeting later but it was moved to tomorrow so no. Why did you ask?" Mayim asked confusedly.
"I'll bring you somewhere that might give you the answers. Do you trust me?" He asked.
"Of course," her face softened. He just looked at her and told her that after breakfast they will go somewhere so she better dress up.
During the car ride, Jim was quiet. He was excited, thrilled, and curious as to how Mayim will react once she found out and see everything all by herself that he had already known for a few months now.
"Are we going to the previous caretakers of the portrait to get answers?" She asked as she do not have any idea of where they were about to go.
"No. But we will go to a place where you'll see and get answers," he said grabbing her hand with his free hand as he was driving.
Third Person's POV
When they arrived at their destination, Mayim looked around and looked at Jim where he was headed from the car. As they went down he held her hand and lead them to a store that seems to sell pretty rocks, gemstones, and things of the sort. When they went inside they were welcomed by the welcoming scent of lit incense which was calming.
As she was looking around seeing the pretty rocks and gems on display, Jim went ahead and talked to the lady at the front desk and ask for Nana. The lady then knocked on the door situated near them and it spits out a lady that she had never seen before.
As for Jim, he is delighted to see Nana again. She didn't age, she still looks so lively and bright just as the first time he saw her a little bit over a year ago. Nana greet him and Jim hugged her. Mayim just looked at them and smiled seeing that she may be a family member because of how they seemed to be fond of each other.
Jim went close to Mayim and they both faced her.
"I can see, you found her already. Is Jim treating you right, Mayim?" Nana asked which made Mayim's eyes wide and Jim's as well. Jim hasn't introduced her to Nana yet but she already knew her. Seeing the surprised reaction on her face she laughed and then introduced herself, "Perhaps Jim didn't mention anything about me before coming here. I am Terry but call me Nana, and I am a psychic medium. I already knew that the two of you will visit today and I knew what you're in for. Please come with me," she said as she motioned her hand to come to her office.
Mayim looked at Jim with a look that he don't know how to read. She was nervous from the anticipation of what she will learn today. He just nodded and held her hand again. "It will be alright. Trust me okay? And trust Nana," he said as he rubs his thumb on her hand. She just inhaled and they went inside the office together.
Mayim does not know what she will find out but one thing is for sure, she is eager to find out what her dreams are about.
