Already in the distance, she was clear to see. He was walking down the old harbour pier towards her, and she was wearing one of her floral dresses. The red glow from the summer sun, was almost glowing around her, which only made her stand out more. She was indeed one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen. She turned around, just as he came closer and shot him one of her brightest smiles that always managed to make him weak in his knees and melt inside. But the eyes. The smile didn't reach the chocolate brown eyes and he knew they were telling the story of an ending love story. Her eyes were saying everything that the two of them hadn't put to word yet.

He suggests that they go for a walk, and she accepts it. Even though both know that they have nothing to talk about. So, they pretend. Pretend that everything is alright right now, but it´s clear as day to him, that they don't know each other anymore. They pretend. She asks about how his mother is and he asks her the same about her fathers. Nothing serious, not going deep into any subject. His hands are in his pockets as they walk together, not holding hands as they used to. As she talks, he studies her and wonders. Where is the girl who fell in love with him? He bets she disappeared with the guy who fell for her. He knows where this is going, and he´s not mad at her. She had turned quiet and had stopped to sit on a bench. He follows her and they sit in silence. Everything has gone silent in his world, until she says what is on both minds. Her brown hair was flowing with the wind, and it only made her more beautiful, he thought.

"Do you think we didn't love each other enough? That we just settled because we thought we couldn't get any better?" She asked. "I´ve thought about it so many times. About us"

"I´ve thought about it too" He replied. "Things like, shouldn´t we have been happy together or shouldn't this have lasted forever" He started. "I know we were just kids when it all began, but back then I really thought these things would last"

"We didn't know any better" She replied and put a brown stray hair behind her ear again. He lets out a chuckle.

"No, we didn't" He looks out at the sea. The big blue, and it seems calming to him. "But we do now" He adds, breaking the silence.

"Yes, we do" She agreed and smiled sadly. He reached out for her hand, and she finally looked at him.

"I´m not mad. Not in any way. I also have a huge part in this, it´s not just you. We were both too late to save this relationship" He told her. "We could have done better, but I believe it ended a long time ago. We just didn't want to believe it. As you said before, we were both content, thought this was what we wanted. Why should we look elsewhere?" She looked away from him and out at the sea, and he watched her, still holding her hand. He knew she was feeling guilty, and he wanted to tell her that she shouldn't.

"But I did. Not psychical, but emotional"

"It was inevitable. I saw it from the beginning, probably before you did, before I figured out what it really meant" He squeezed her hand in comfort. "As I said, I´m not mad at you. I want what´s best for us and this is it" She looked back at him with a sad smile.

"When did you become so mature?"

"You had a great deal in that, you know? Made me the man I am today" He answered truthfully as he nudged her shoulder with his own. She chuckled and then smiled at him.

"I think you´re right about everything you´ve said" She said. "I wanted it to be us. It´s the easy way to just ignore everything and just go with the flow, but it´s not the right thing for neither of us. We would probably end up resenting each other and I don't want that"

"I could never resent you" He told her while shaking his head.

"We don't know that. You could be, because we´re forcing something that shouldn't be, and we both know that. I don't want to lose you in my life, and I hope you´ll still want to be a part of mine" She said and he could see the hopefulness in her eyes.

Of course, I will. I still love you. Nothing could ever change that"

"I love you too" She said and rested her head on his shoulder with a sigh. They looked out at the sea and saw the people walked walking down on the beach. "I´ve always loved her, you know? When I think back, it´s always been her. I was transfixed on every move she made, and it never clicked back then. I should never had led you on. I´m so sorry"

"You didn't do it on purpose" He said with a tiny shrug and she lifted her head. "I just want you to be happy, like you want me to, and this is the way for us. You´re happy with her, just as you should be"

"But we´re not even together" She said with a sigh.

"You will be. If I know her, and I do, she´ll be waiting at you at the harbour pier" She frowned as she looked at him. He smirked and then pointed towards it. She turned her head and immediately found the woman.

"You planned this?" She asked confused. He nodded as he smiled.

"I did" He stood up from the bench. "You need to go to her" She also stood and turned to him.

"You´re a remarkable man, Finn Hudson" She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly. "Thank you" She whispered into his chest. He hugged her tighter.

"You´re a wonderful woman, Rachel Berry. Meant for great things, you are" He whispered back and then kissed the top of her head before releasing her. She looked up at him with those brown eyes and he smiled down at her. She returned it. "Now, you shouldn't let her wait on you. Go on"

"I lo-" She started.

"And I, you. Now, go" He chuckled, and she flashed him a quick smile before turning to walk towards the harbour again.

Finn couldn't quite describe all the feelings that was going on in his body right now, but he felt happy and excitement for what the future would bring his way. And he felt happy for them. He smiled brightly, when he saw how Rachel almost skipped towards Quinn and how the blonde had opened her arms for the brunette. He knew they would be alright, and he would be with them all the way to support them and help, should they need it. He gave Quinn a little wave before he stuffed his hands in his pocket and walked the other direction with a happy smile on his lips. Everything would turn out just right.
