It's Rina's birthday and the Warden is planning a surprise dinner with Javi and Izzy. The morning of, Javi and Izzy are hiding their presents to their mother in their dad's truck so they can give them to her during the dinner. When they finish, their communicator rings. They check if anyone is around and they answer. Solon tells them that Lord Zedd is causing chaos in the woods. They quickly teleport to the scene, leaving the truck unlocked.
The rangers meet up and morph together just as Lord Zedd begins to attack them. All of them managed to dodge but they are finding Lord Zedd hard to defeat. No matter how hard they attack, it doesn't seem to have an effect. As the rangers rally together, Lord Zedd laughs.
"You know you are no match for me, rangers. I haven't showed you some of my more powerful moves."
Javi shields the rangers as he throws a few powerful blasts. Izzy charges at him and attempts to attack him. He hits her and throws her into a nearby tree. She quickly gets up again, even though he hurt side.
"Foolish girl. You'll be the first to face my wrath"
He charges his staff and is about to attack Izzy as she's standing by herself.
"No!" Javi yells to Zedd and he rushes in front of his sister.
He hits both of them with an even more powerful blast, knocking them both into the trees behind them. Both of them demorph and fall unconscious. The other rangers rush next to them.
"We have to retreat!" Ollie says.
The others nod and they all teleport back to base. Solon sees the rangers teleport in and without hesitation, sets up the med bay for Javi and Izzy to heal. Zayto lays Izzy down on a bed whilst Ollie lays down Javi in the bed right next to his sister's. Solon starts working round the clock to help them as she can.
Soon, the sun sets and it's time for the surprise dinner. The warden and Rina wait for them outside. Rina takes out her phone and dials Izzy but she gets no response.
"I'll try Javi" says the Warden as he pulls out his phone. He dials his son but just like Izzy there's no response.
"What about Fern? Maybe she heard from them" says Rina.
"Good idea" says her husband.
Rina quickly finds Fern's number and dials her. Unlike their children, Fern responds quickly.
"Hello?" Answers Fern
"Hi, Fern. It's Rina. Have you seen Izzy or Javi?" She asks, straight up to the point.
"No. I haven't seen Izzy all day. She texted me this morning but I haven't heard from her since. Why?" Fern asks, getting worried about her girlfriend.
"We were supposed to go out together tonight for my birthday but they haven't turned up. We tried calling but neither of them are answering. I'm getting worried" says Rina in a worried tone.
"Oh. Uh. I'll check it out." Fern says before hanging up. She knew she couldn't tell them about their children being rangers so she calls Amelia.
"Hey, Fern" Amelia answers, trying not to sound worried.
"Hey. Are Izzy and Javi alright? They were supposed to meet their parents for dinner" asks Fern.
Amelia sighs. "We got attacked by Zedd. They got hit pretty badly. I'll come for you so you can see them." She says before hanging up.
Amelia quickly teleports to Fern's location and brings her down to the base. Fern sees her girlfriend lying unconscious and walks up to her. Her eyes start to tear up. She stops next to Izzy and she grabs her girlfriend's hand.
"What am I going to tell Carlos and Rina?" She says as she lets her tears drop.
"We can't tell them the truth, otherwise we'll expose our secret" says Aiyon.
"We don't have to" says Ollie. "We go talk to them, morphed. Tell them that they were in the area and they got attacked"
"That way, we don't expose ourselves as rangers and their parents would know what happened" says Zayto.
The rangers nod and they instamorph before they teleport to the Garcia's house.
Rina and Carlos are still outside, trying to call their children when all of a sudden, they see the rangers walking up to them. Both of them tale a deep breath as the rangers approach, preparing for the worst.
"Mr and Mrs García?" Says Zayto trying to disguise his voice, pretending not to know them.
"Yes?" Says the Warden trying not to sound shaky.
"There's been an accident" Zayto starts to explain.
"Oh my God. What happened to them? Are they okay?" Rina asks frantically.
"A powerful monster showed up at the woods. Javi and Izzy were nearby singing together when they were attacked. We weren't able to protect them in time." continues Zayto, trying to sound compassionate. He can see Rina tearing up.
"Both of them were injured so we have taken them to our base to heal them." Finishes Zayto.
"Can we see them?" Says Carlos worriedly.
"Of course. We will teleport you there." Amelia responds quickly.
They all teleport to the base.
"Oh welcome!" Says Solon warmly.
Rina spots Fern next to Izzy and rushes over there. Fern hears Rina's footsteps and softly greets them. Rina stops next to Fern and Izzy's bed whilst the warden stops next to Javi's bed.
"Will they be okay?" Asks Carlos firmly.
"This machine helps heal their injuries. They will be up in no time" says Solon reaffirming the older couple.
"It heals our injuries all the time" says Zayto, still morphed.
"How long will it take?" Rina asks, keeping her children in sight.
"Depends on their injuries. Could be hours, days, weeks…" says Solon.
Carlos looks at Rina and shakes his head.
"When I told them to make your birthday unforgettable, this not what I meant" Carlos says to his wife, trying to lighten up the mood.
"Yeah… it's definitely unforgettable." Rina says in sad tone.
"Stay as long as you want" Amelia says.
"If you need anything, let us know." Says Aiyon.
"Thanks" Carlos says as he nods to them.
The hotline rings and Solon goes to respond. As she hangs up, she lets the other rangers know and they quickly teleport.
Rina and Carlos inspect their children's injuries.
Javi has his left arm and chest bandaged and his right leg raised a little for swelling in his shin.
Izzy, on the other hand, has a cut that goes from the middle of her forehead to the left temple, her abdomen bandaged, a massive bruise that goes from the right side of her jaw, reaching down to the upper half of the right side of her neck and her left knee is broken.
"Do you think Izzy will be able to run again?" Fern asks.
"I really hope so" says Rina.
"She'll be devastated if she can't" says Carlos.
"I don't know if she told you but she gets her athletic traits from her birth father." Says Rina, smiling at the thought of her previous husband. "He would take her on bike rides, hikes and she would run with him when he went for a jog. They motivated each other"
"That's nice. She hasn't said much about him" says Fern.
"He died when she was young. She barely remembers him" says Rina.
"When we met, Izzy didn't wan to run anymore. She knew it wouldn't be the same without him. That's when I promised to coach her. I never want to replace him in any way but the least I can do is help her and motivate her to do what she loves doing. It was a good way to bond" recalls Carlos.
"Definitely is. What about Javi? I know you weren't supportive of him pursuing music. Why is that? Because being an athlete can be as successful and disappointing as music can." Asks Fern, trying to keep them focused on memories rather than the current state of their children.
"That very thing was one of the few things Rina and I fought about. Truth is, just like Izzy took after her father, Javi took after his mother. She loved music. She mostly sang but Javi was always in tune with her. Javi playing, reminded me of how crazy it made his mother when she failed her music career." Reminisces Carlos.
A few hours pass and Javi slowly opens his eyes. He sees his father sitting in a chair beside him, asleep. He tries to get up but his chest still hurts.
"Hey, sweetheart. Take it easy" Rina says as she sees him move. She quickly goes to his side.
"Mom" Javi says hoarsely.
"The rangers told us you and Izzy were injured. They brought here to see you." Rina says as she gives her son a weak smile.
"Oh man.." he looks at the bed next to his, seeing his sister lying down unconscious. "I was trying to protect her" he says desperately.
"I know, honey. It's not your fault. You were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. The rangers told us everything." she says in a gentle tone.
Fern walks back into the room and signals him to tell him that they still don't know. He nods.
"I know we go a lot in the woods. There's just something about playing music out in nature" says Javi as he tiptoes around the fact that they are rangers.
Rina nods. "Let me get you some water" she says before kissing his forehead.
Fern walks up to him and looks at the Warden. She whispers in his ear what she tried to tell him earlier. Rina quickly returns and Fern looks at Javi and talks to him in her regular tone.
"It's okay, Javi. I'm just glad you're safe" Fern smiles at him and returns to the other side of the room, next to Izzy.
"I'm sorry we ruined your birthday, mom" he says to Rina.
"Javi, there will be more birthdays. There's only one of you and Izzy. We can only lose you once." Rina says, trying to comfort her stepson.
The rangers teleport back. They quickly go check on the siblings and they see Javi awake.
They greeted Javi and he signals them that their parents haven't left.
"How are you feeling?" Asks Ollie, trying to disguise his voice.
"Like being hit by a truck" he responds carefully.
"Get some rest" says Zayto. "All of you"
"I won't be able to rest until Izzy wakes up" says Rina.
"It's understandable. I've been trying. At this point, I gave up. Solon makes an amazing coffee." Responds Fern.
"I, on the other hand, won't say no to a break from the pain" says Javi. He looks at his mom. "Can you puff up my pillow a little?"
His mom she nods and puffs his pillow. Carlos wakes up just in time to see his son shuffle a little before getting comfortable to rest.
"Hey, buddy" says Carlos.
"I'm sorry, dad" apologizes Javi.
"Glad you're okay, son. Rest as much as you can" says his father worriedly. He turns to Fern and Rina. "Nothing with Izzy, huh?"
"Nope" Fern responds.
"Not yet" says Rina disappointingly.
"Come 'ere" Carlos says as he gestures his wife to cuddle with him. "She's a fighter. They'll be out and about in no time"
"I know" she says as she sits on his lap. "But the waiting sucks, you know. It's always just enough time for you to think every bad outcome"
"Especially when you went through it already." He comforts his wife. "Maybe we should get distracted but you need to rest. Both kids are going to need us and we need to be strong for them too."
Days go by and Javi heals further and further but Izzy still hasn't woken up yet. None of her injuries have healed.
Javi paces around the base. Fern sees him and walks up to him.
"Hey" she says softly.
"Hey." He responds. "I don't know what's going with Izzy. She should've healed at least a little by now"
Fern sighs. "I know. The fact that you healed, means that the machine is working"
"At least on Javi's end" says Ollie, surprising both of them, making Fern jump.
"What are you saying, Ollie?" Asks Javi curiously.
"You think that it's broken on Izzy's side?" asks Fern intently.
"That would explain why Javi's healed and Izzy hasn't." Ollie explains. "Solon let's check Izzy's side, make sure that it's doing what's intended to do"
Solon shows up with the tools and the four of them enter the medbay. Ollie lifts Izzy into the empty bed and Solon checks the internal wiring.
"That's odd" utters Solon.
"What is it?" asks Fern.
"There is no power at all on this side" exclaims Solon.
"Check Javi's side" orders Ollie.
Solon does as she's told and inspect the machine.
"There's barely any power" asserts Solon.
"How is that possible? I'm completely healed" attests Javi.
"Maybe there was a malfunction or a short-circuit?" asks Fern.
"A short-circuit would make it spark and it won't work at all, not just barely" explains Ollie. "Whatever happened, it happened these past couple of days"
"What about the morpher? Could it be short-circuiting, effecting the machine somehow?" asks Javi.
"I took it off when your parents arrived so I doubt it" says Fern.
"There's no harm in checking" says Javi.
Fern hands it to Solon and opens it up in another room. She checks it thoroughly with her mechanical eye.
"Interesting!" exclaims Solon. She checks data on the screen and she confirms her suspicions. "It is completely drain of power"
Amelia, Zayto and Aiyon teleport in.
"What's up, guys?" Amelia greets her friends and teammates.
"What's going on?" Zayto asks as he sees Solon investigating Izzy's morpher.
"The machine in the medbay and Izzy's morpher are out of power" Ollie tells the group.
"How is that possible?" Zayto asks worriedly.
"It's almost as if Izzy's acting as a sort of EMP" Ollie adds.
"What's an EMP" Aiyon asks, confused at the term.
"It stands for Electromagnetic Pulse" explains Fern. "But how can Izzy become an EMP?"
"It has to do with Zedd, right?" says Zayto. "Let's recall what happened"
"Or better yet, let's see what Izzy remembers" says Aiyon as he walks up to Izzy.
"Aiyon, morph. Parents are still there" says Amelia.
"We teleported mom home to rest and dad's at work" says Javi.
"Never mind then" says Amelia.
Aiyon holds Izzy's hand and focuses, making his antennae come out. He starts looking at Izzy's memories and tries to see more details of the attack.
"I can't tell exactly what happened but it has to do with the staff. There's something different about it." explains Aiyon.
"We have to destroy it then" says Zayto.
"That's gonna be tough" asserts Amelia. "We got our butts kicked last time and Izzy is still paying for it"
"All we have to do is get him to drop it" says Javi.
"We have to plan it right, for Izzy's sake" says Zayto as he looks at Izzy worryingly.
"How can I help?" asks Fern.
"Two options. First is stay here with Solon and take care of Izzy" says Ollie.
"What's the second option?" Asks Fern.
"We use you as bait" finishes Ollie.
"Ollie, no way." expresses Javi
"We can lure him out and surround him" explains Ollie.
"No! Las time, Izzy and I got hurt. Izzy's still unconscious because of him. If something happens to Fern, how will you explain to Izzy what happened to her girlfriend?" Shouts Javi.
"Javi's right. She needs me here anyway, safe next to her, ready to support her with whatever she needs" says Fern.
"I agree. Ollie just drop it, please." Says Amelia gently.
He sighs and the 5 rangers teleport out preparing to lure Lord Zedd out. In the meantime, it doesn't take long before the base loses power.
"Oh dear" says Solon.
Lord Zedd teleports in, laughing as his plan succeeds. Both Solon and Fern are completely surprised that a villain came into the base successfully. Solon takes a fighting stance.
"Find the emergency button in the medbay. It will teleport the rangers here" says Solon before attacking Lord Zedd.
Fern rushes in the medbay. As she looks for this button, Solon is easily getting beaten by Lord Zedd. She quickly finds the button and presses it. Immediately, the rangers are teleported in. They see the situation and quickly jump into the fight.
"Ah, Rangers, you came just in time" Lord Zedd says as he easily attack the rangers.
"Time to finish what I started" he says as he quickly throws the rangers to the wall and binds them with his Z waves, slowly draining their energies.
"Say goodbye to your precious Little Green!" He says confidently as he goes to the medbay and throws out Izzy to the middle of the base. He uses the Z waves to raise her from the ground and with he quickly charges his staff with the energy he stole. As he's about to release his blast, the Green Morphin Master shows up. The rangers stare at her, relieved that she came to save the day.
"That's enough, Zedd" she says as she uses her staff to teleport him far away in another galaxy. She releases the rangers and they get up. "It will take him some time to come back. In the meantime, you will get stronger so when he gets back, you will be able to defeat him" she continues.
The rangers thank her. l and she restores power in the base, including Izzy's morpher. Javi goes next to his sister and picks her up.
"She'll be able to heal now." The Morphin Master reassures him. "Give her time to rest" she continues before disappearing again.
Javi gently lowers Izzy down in the bed again and Solon activated the machine again. Fern walks out of her hiding spot.
"Glad the power's back on. This place gets scary in the dark." She says, relieved to see her girlfriend peacefully resting again.
"We'll wait a little bit and go get the Warden and Rina" says Amelia.
"Thanks" Javi says with a gentle smile.
He sits down in the chair that his father was previously in so Fern can stay next to her. Soon, his parents are teleported in and come in the medbay, waiting for their daughter to wake up.
Hours pass by and Izzy slowly opens her eyes, greeted by enormous pain. She sees Fern and her family next to her bed.
"Honey, how are you feeling?" asks Rina after sighing with relief.
"Terrible. Was i hit by a moving train?" she says in a hoarse voice.
Everyone chuckles.
"Worse. I'll explain later" says Javi.
"You had us worried for a minute there, Champ" says Carlos as he pets her uninjured leg.
"Sorry" she says in a sad tone.
"We're just glad you're okay" says Fern as she holds Izzy's hand.
Izzy gives a nod and winces with pain.
"Take it easy, Champ" says Carlos.
"Your neck's bruised" explains her mother.
"That explains it" Izzy says as she gives her mother a weak smile, trying to make her feel better.
"Get some rest, sweetheart. You'll feel better soon" Rina says before kissing the right side of her daughter's forehead.
Izzy blinks slowly as she gladly accepts her mother's gentle kiss. Izzy gently squeezes her girlfriend's hand before shuffles a little to rest comfortably.
It took Izzy a few weeks to fully recover. As soon as she's completely healed, her family went out to dinner with Fern and the kids gave their mother the gifts they got her for her birthday. As soon as they finishes and Rina hugs both Javi and Izzy, Fern asks to speak.
"Whilst you were recovering, I had time to reflect about our relationship, Izzy. I love you and I couldn't bear to lose you. I still can't. I don't want to imagine my life without you." Fern gets down on one knee, takes out a beautiful black ring with glowing green material from her pocket. Both Izzy and Fern start to tear up. "Isabella Naya García, will you marry me?"
Izzy is so moved by the gestures, she couldn't speak. She nods and kisses her now fiancée. Everyone in the restaurant cheers for them and the García family hug it out as they celebrate together.
