Intro:
Hello everyone! I'm Marie, and it's lovely to be back on fanfiction! I cleaned out some of my more recent stories from the past four years because most I will not continue. There were two of them I plan on re-writing from a few months ago that I posted in a hyper-fixated haste LOL But presently, I will be working on this story and my Redemption – Revamped story.
I have been obsessed with writing this Fanfiction, and it took me almost a year to finally start it. This is a self-insert OC; as you can see from the start, she has a fiancée. I do have a partner, but when has that stopped anyone from fantasizing about these anime heartthrobs? HEHE. I haven't read any self-insert OCs where they are magically transported into the Naruto world.
This being said I am writing this story as realistically as possible. It may be slow in the first few chapters, as I am trying to accurately depict the real emotions one would face in this situation. I am unsure of the pairings yet, but I know Kakashi and Sasuke will be the main ones I focus on. I appreciate feedback because I have not written steadily in a long time, so I am still not confident in my writing skills.
Warning: As someone who has struggled with mental health for a long time, diagnosed with Bipolar II, I must warn you that Kira will be expressing suicidal ideations at the begging of her journey. I encourage anyone who might be triggered by this to be warned. As mentioned, this is how I feel I would react in this situation. I am currently very stable and healthy with my mental health, so there is no need to worry. It will not be too explicit and will not last very long, but I feel to include this warning for the next few chapters.
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy it!
"Oh, they're beautiful!" A woman gasped in delight.
Under a clear blue sky and the radiant sun, a recently engaged couple immersed themselves in a picturesque setting. Beautiful cherry blossoms graced the scenery of the Shimo Daigo-Ji Temple. The couple paused in the center of the bridge, momentarily glancing at the splendor surrounding them.
The woman squeezed her partner's hand and grinned at him, reveling in her love for him. The wind caressed her sun-kissed cheeks as she tilted her head back, allowing the sun's warm rays to wash over her.
"Come on! I want to head up to the trail!" She exclaimed, eyes bright with a mischievous glint to them. The man agreed, and she tugged him along, taking the lead as usual. To any onlooker, they appeared to be a dynamic pair – a highly energetic woman accompanied by a calm and good-natured man, embodying a perfect balance of Yin and Yang.
The two made their way through the temple grounds, bypassing much of the temple to get to the trail leading up to the Kami Daigo, Diago's original temple grounds. It was about an hour-long hike, but the two had ensured they wore appropriate attire. The women sported a comfortable yet stylish hiking ensemble, a light pink tennis skirt, a matching sleeveless top, and chunky white sneakers. Her long blonde hair cascading down her back in a loose braid.
The man was more pragmatic, donning simple muted-colored shorts and a shirt, carrying a water bottle. With a warm smile, he watched as she eagerly took a few steps ahead, practically skipping up the trail, radiating an infectious energy.
"Almost there!" She excitedly squealed.
The hike had been quaint thus far, both in reasonably good shape, with the trail offering a gentle incline. Eyeing a large rock, the woman hastened her steps, eager to catch a glimpse of the valley below and snap a picture. Mentally and physically prepared, she bounded forward and leaped onto the stone.
With precision, her left foot firmly found purchase on the rock's side while her hand effortlessly secured a grip on the top, enabling her to hoist herself up swiftly. The cleanliness of the rock spared her skirt from anything more than faint traces of dirt, which she promptly whisked away.
"Honey, you really shouldn't be up there." The man spoke gently, standing at the base of the rock.
She looked down at him with a hand on her hip, "Well, you shouldn't be down there looking up my skirt, you perv."
He let her have her way with an amiable shake of his head.
"Yes, yes." She said with a wave of her hand as she readied her phone to take a picture. She frowned, realizing she needed to get a little higher to take a better shot at the scenery below.
"Gotta get on my tippy toes." She whispered.
Flexing onto the balls of her feet, the woman held her breath as she lined up the photo to her satisfaction.
One breath.
Two breaths.
Snap!
Exhale.
"Perfect!" She smiled, bouncing back down on her heels. "Honestly, I think I should be a photo-"
The woman froze mid-sentence as the rock shifted beneath her feet slightly. A surge of tension coursed through her muscles, her body instinctively locking up as she turned her gaze towards her partner, who stood nearby, his eyes fixed upon her.
"Stay still," he instructed, his voice calm and steady. "The ground beneath the rock seems unstable. It might be safest to quickly jump to the higher ground behind you."
The woman's heart was pounding as she considered his words. Doubt flickered in her mind, questioning whether the rock would actually give way; it seemed to shift forward but remained reasonably stable. That would be the only way; she didn't want to risk getting crushed. "Okay." She agreed, a nervous laugh escaping her lips. "Go behind the rock, just in case, so you can catch me if a happen to break my neck.
The woman gazed intensely at the towering temple building below, waiting for him to get behind her. "Okay, I'm here," The man spoke, his voice steady and supportive. "The ground is slightly sloped but flat without any holes. Now, turn around quickly and jump into my arms, okay?"
"Okay." She agreed once more, trusting in his words.
"Now."
Swiftly pivoting on her heel, the woman stepped forward, only to feel the rock shift beneath her once more. Seeing her fiancée down below gave her comfort and she jumped down quickly. They collided with one another, and both fell together. Both breathing ragged, they looked at each other in relief, and the woman felt a bubble of hysterical laughter rise out of her chest.
"Jesus fucking Christ." She exasperated, hand on her chest as they both started to laugh off the nerves between them. Looking at the rock and then at her phone, she stood up suddenly, glaring at the rock. "I have won this battle, rock." She began dramatically, "Let us never cross paths again."
"Except when we come back down." The man added with a chuckle, also getting to his feet.
Zzzzzzz zzzzzzzz
Grasping his pocket, the man took out his vibrating phone and checked it. "Ah, it's my mom." He commented. "Let me get this and stay put. Don't want you to get into a brawl with a tree next."
The woman huffed but smiled as he walked a few steps back to talk to his mother in Japanese. Checking her phone, she took a few steps from the large rock and examined her picture. "Wow, and I never take good photos." She mused, about to send it to her family group chat.
Sting!
The woman shrieked and immediately swatted her arm where the pain erupted, scrambling away in panic. Her eyes briefly met the man's panicked ones before she felt herself falling backward.
"KIRA."
Panic.
Confusion.
Fear.
Kira jolted upright with her heart pounding through her chest and looking around wildly, trying to get her bearings. Her chest was heaving, and her vision focused as she realized she was in a small hospital room. The curtains on either side of her bed were closing in, and she threw herself off the bed, legs trembling beneath her as she fought to regain her balance.
A raspy croak escaped her parched throat as she strained to form words. "Alex?" she managed to whisper, the sound feeble and barely audible.
Glancing around, she noticed an empty hospital bed beside hers and looked toward the window. Where was she? Kira stumbled more and threw open the sliding window, taking in the cool air. Closing her eyes, she drew a deep breath to steady her racing heart.
They probably brought me to the nearest hospital…I don't feel any significant pain, so I must've not fallen that hard.
But where was Alex?
Opening her eyes, it took a moment for them to focus again on what was in front of her. Gazing out over the houses and buildings sprawled beneath her, a wave of disbelief washed over her. Time seemed to stand still as her gaze locked onto the colossal rock formation that loomed before her.
Impossible.
How was she here?
Did she die?
Is she in a fucking coma?
Real. Real. Real.
Everything was too real.
Dizziness.
Kira released the air that had been involuntarily trapped in her lungs, only to be sucked back in forcefully. She was starting to hyperventilate. Eyes scouring the room, she noticed it was a simple hospital room with only a drip IV, devoid of any advanced medical equipment she was accustomed to. Very outdated and nothing like the technology her world would have; they did lack that stuff in this world, right?
Jesus Christ. No, this wasn't possible; this must be a small village so obsessed with Naruto that they had their rock semblance made. That must be it; there's no way. It simply had to be.
She needed answers, and Kira was beginning to panic uncontrollably. I have to get out of here and figure this out. Kira ran over to the door and flung it open, stepping out into the hallway without a second thought. Her heart was pounding so hard that she could feel it reverberating through her entire body, causing her to clutch her chest for some relief. The corridor was empty, and Kira felt a growing sense of dread as she realized that she was utterly alone.
Maybe I'm in a fever dream, and my head is cracked open somewhere; I need to wake myself up.
Kira was used to having lucid dreams, and once she realized she was lucid, she could wake herself up. But how? She would usually use a scare tactic to wake herself up. Would she have to throw herself out the window? She quickly dismissed the thought, not trusting her judgment in her current condition. But where was Alex? The idea of him leaving her in such a state filled her with an overwhelming sense of disbelief.
Without glancing at the closed doors lining the hallway, Kira focused on finding an elevator or stairwell to descend. Turning the corner, the emptiness of her surroundings heightened her senses, and a gnawing suspicion clawed at her.
Stairwell.
The sign was nailed on the wall beside an open doorway, and Kira went for it. As soon as she made it through the threshold, she froze. Voices echoed up the stairwell from the floors below, and her heart sank in her chest. A sinking feeling settled in the pit of her stomach, weighing her down like an anchor. She forced herself to take another step forward and then another until she grasped the railing at the top of the steps.
The sound of approaching footsteps entering the stairwell constricted the fear tighter around her heart, dissolving any willpower she had left to move forward. Kira stood frozen at the top of the stairs; her fingers clenched tightly around the railing as if it were her sole lifeline.
"Hey, are you okay?" A familiar voice asked. "You shouldn't be out of bed; you were in rough shape when we found you."
As the voice drifted through her mind, a surreal feeling overcame Kira, its lazy tendrils slowly wrapping around her thoughts. She blinked slowly, her thoughts moving sluggishly in response. Without even glancing back, she instinctively recognized the voice behind her. As realization seeped into her, she felt a lightness come over her as everything faded to black.

Note: Yes! So, it was a short chapter, as most first chapters are, and I am just trying to test the waters. Next chapter, I will jump right in and have it be twice as long! Let me know what you think!
