Episode 41: Mary Jo Moves In

CHAPTER 1: NEW SURROUNDINGS

"Careful with that chest!"

Linus, Charlie, Shermy, and Franklin were helping Mary Jo bring in a huge hope chest she had in storage. She kept it there when she was at the dormitory, but now since she was now living with Linus, she decided to get it out of storage. She still had some furniture there, but since she was sharing a place with Linus and he hadn't moved into a house as of yet, the rest was fine where it was.

"My back is killing me!" whined Shermy.

"Dude, I keep telling you to hit the gym with me," Charlie retorted.

"Where do you want this, MJ?" asked Franklin.

"Please don't call me that, Franklin," said Mary Jo, looking down.

"That asshole Duke called her 'MJ', Frank," said Linus.

"Oops, sorry, Mary Jo," Franklin said, apologetic.

"It's okay, Franklin, you didn't do anything wrong," assured Mary Jo. "Just a personal issue. To answer your question, I want it in front of the bed in the bedroom. I saw Linus had room there."

And the men brought the chest inside the bedroom and placed it at the foot of the bed. Shermy immediately sat down on top, and Franklin sprawled out on the floor, as did Linus. Charlie was the only one still standing.

"Frank, you of all people should be in better shape with you being a health nut and all!" Charlie observed.

"Yeah, well, mind you I just came from the gym, myself," Franklin responded. "I have a right to be exhausted!"

"Touché," said Charlie. "And what's the excuse for you two?" He glared at Linus and Shermy.

"Busy with the Beagle," said Shermy.

"Busy with the library," added Linus.

"No time to work out!" they both said in unison.

"Well, let's make some time," said Charlie. "I'm always free on the weekends, so we can work out at the gym then."

"Don't you have to have a membership?" asked Linus.

"Nope," Charlie replied. "Membership is optional. You can work out as you please there and pay one price. And it's inexpensive. Frank works out there often, and he had just came from there, as he said a moment ago."

"I could stand to lose this belly," said Linus. "That jerkoff Duke could get out on bail anytime soon, and I want to build up my strength."

"I knew I could count on you, Linus," said Charlie. Turning to Shermy, he said, "How about you, Sherm? You were always one of my best players on the team when we were kids, I know you can stand to go to the gym. Patty will love your new physique."

"Okay, I'm sold," Shermy relented. And Mary Jo brought over some bottled waters for the four men to drink. They discussed what had happened to Duke after his arrest. Bail was set at half a million, so there would be no chance of him getting out of jail during the hearing. Or so the gang thought.
