Dragonborn. Many know the story of the Last Dragonborn, from how he faced Alduin and triumphed to Miraak's defeat. Though his start will remain a mystery to all but a couple of handfuls of people, his legend slowly fading after disappearing from the face of Nirn.
What many don't know is he was cursed by Alduin with immortality, using what energy left before he disappeared. Many would want to live forever, unlike vampires who are timeless yet killable. But he didn't want this, so he looked for ways to remove this. After many centuries, his search had led him into a cave looking for clues but no one saw him emerge from the cave after days of waiting and even searching the cave. Only a journal with one entry was found.

Tristain Academy of Magic, Courtyard, Halkaginia
Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière, also known as Louise the Zero, was with her class as they are in the middle of the Familiar Summoning Exam. Varying creatures were summoned, and it made her wonder what she would summon (maybe a dragon to rub in Zerbst's face).
Professor Colbert was overseeing the exam, asked if everyone has gone.
"Zero hasn't gone yet sir!" Zerbst told the professor. All eyes were on her and she stepped forward ignoring the taunt that was said as she did so. Taking a deep breath she chanted, "My name is Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière. Pentagon of the Five Elemental Power, Heed my summoning… and bring forth… my Familiar!"
Professor Colbert and the students felt the Willpower being channeled and someone cried "Hit the ground!" as Louise's wand flashed.
'BOOM' The explosion had a lasting echo as dust was thrown up covering the entire courtyard, coughing could be heard as Colbert blew away the dust with a wind spell. What was there shocked everyone, including Louise. Standing taller than the professor was a giant of a man in full plate armor with the helmet missing, wearing a sword on his hip with a weird looking shield and rifle on his back.
But what was the shocking part was the crackle of lightning around his hands looking over everybody there. Shouting something at them Professor Colbert casted a translation charm on the man only for it to dissipate on impact, something that shouldn't happen.
The crackling got louder as he assumed an attack but the professor had his hands up and slowly pointing to his mouth in hopes he could catch on. He said something, lowered his hands and in a deep voice said, "Where am I? This isn't any of the Daedric Planes and I'm unfamiliar with these lands."
"You are at the Tristain Academy of Magic. You were summoned as part of the Familiar Summoning Exam. My name is Jean Colbert, Professor at this academy. Might we know your name sir?"
He sighed, looked around at the courtyard and said, "My name is Jerhelm, no family name. I go by many names but the name that would make the most sense would be Archmage. Foes know me as Kro Ah Kiir." That last bit was a warning, they all felt the intention.
Archmage?! He can't be older than the 4th years', how? One student pipes up "What does that last one mean?"
"A title I gave myself, then was fully given by my Lord Father after I had magic users after me for years, judging by the look of you lot I think I will keep that to whoever is in charge here." A personal title wasn't anything new, heck titles were either given or made up. But for that title to be solidified by a parent or ruler? But with magic users after him, did he upset a Noble somewhere? Louise finally gets over her shock.
"I summoned you as my familiar, kneel down so I can finish the exam" Louise said to the giant.
"Let me speak with the one in charge and I'll think into it." Jerhelm said dismissively, gaining the ire of Louise.
"Now listen here you. I. Summoned. You. Now kneel and -MMPH!" Louise was yelling at him but Zerbst muffled her. Colbert was sweating as he could feel the aura this man was putting out and decided to direct him to Old Osmond.
"Come along Miss Vallière, Mr. Jerhelm. We'll speak with the headmaster about this." Colbert said then turning to the others. "Class dismissed everyone!"
Tristain Academy of Magic, Headmaster's Office, Halkaginia – Jerhelm POV
First impression of the Headmaster is that of him being a lecher, but that could be a cover or both is true. The power I can feel from him is up there with Savos Aren but he is no Mer. I believe it's the land itself that empowered the people here as I can practically taste it.
Ms. Longueville on the other hand? She's hiding something. The pink haired girl is grating my wits, demanding that I become her familiar. Potential for great power yes, she needs to learn humility and tone the attitude down lest it kills her.
From what I had seen in that courtyard, anything could be a familiar which is odd. My spell lets me summon a wolf but that seems basic here.
The headmaster turns to me after he finished talking with Colbert. "And what of you, sir? Miss Vallière summoned you here to become her familiar."
"And what does a familiar do here anyway? If its slavery I will have no part in it." I say, much to the shock of those present.
"Well… They provide for the master and-" Osmond way saying before I cut him off.
"It sounds like slavery to me, headmaster. I be loyal to my master and in turn they treat me right. No. I will not be an object."
He sees the look I'm giving and stands down. "Then sadly, we'll have to write a message to Miss Vallière's family as to why she has failed this institution." The look on pinkie's face turns to sadness and shock. "I am curious as to what the title is that you have? I can't even understand it."
I look at the three of them, one by one. "Mage Hunter Child. It's in the tongue of my home's dragons, that's why you have never heard of it nor understand it."
"M-Mage hunter? Why?!" Shouts Louise. "Is that why you had magic users after you?" The dragon parts goes ignored somehow.
"That is in part why. I had a faction of people after me because I found and mastered lost spells. They wanted them to be theirs or destroyed. Stupid Aldmeri." Saying that last bit quietly, I turn from Louise to Osmond. "As for Louise, write her parents if you must but I will train her myself here if that's alright."
A grim look comes to Osmond. "Her parents are going to be highly upset. Karin may come down in full armor just to deal with this, her sisters and father notwithstanding. As to train young Miss Vallière? You may until her family arrives since she is no longer part of this school at the moment due to her failing the familiar contract. Her parents will decide if she will stay here."
"Then all I ask is that she keeps her room until that time then. If you need money to cover anything from this I can provide in precious metals and stones." Osmond raised an eyebrow at that. "Gold and such, headmaster. I do not have any of your currency so I will sell them off."
"I see. I can arrange a room for you in the meantime in the staff area. Talk to Miss Longueville for the things you need to sell and I'll write to the Crown for the ECU." Mentioning the Crown had Louise perk up and she had a gleam in her eyes that told me that she knows royalty.
"I best retire to my room then. I have some letters to write." Louise said, avoiding my eyes as she looks at her currently former teacher and headmaster. I call out to her as she gets to the door.
"We'll start during the midday. Meet me in the court where I was summoned to." I say and she meekly nods with a flinch afterward. Probably from the reminder of the failed contract. But something comes to mind as the door closes. Letters?
Osmond sees the look of confusion on my face. "Miss Vallière is probably going to write to the Princess. They are really close to each other. But on top of the letter to the Princess, she'll write to her elder sister and mother." His look turns stern. "I'll be honest, her mother will show up in her armor. She's the ex-commander of the Manticore Knights and holds the title of Heavy Wind. I suspect a duel will be called when she gets here, more than likely between you and her. I do not know the terms she'll lay out, but I think she'll have you be Miss Vallière's familiar if she wins. You will have a couple of days to prepare if she comes with her family and a day if she comes alone."
"I take it she's a strict one then?" I get a nod. "I see. The only ways to avoid all this is to either become the girl's slave or face her mother in a duel. Another way is to get the Crown involved but I have a feeling that the Princess will show up anyways. Troublesome. If that is all I will retire to my room once I'm showed it."
"There is nothing else that I can't speak of yet. Miss Longueville?" Osmond ask and got a nod. "Take Mr. Jerhelm to the staff quarters and assign Miss Siesta as his maid for the time being." A maid, really? More lecher than power at this point.
"Follow me." Miss Longueville said abruptly. I nod and follow her out of the tower to the staff quarters. I see students looking at us and whispering. From what I got made me question the rules on how the teachers discipline students for this behavior. "Zero's failed Familiar" "Fallen Noble" and the likes.
I finally arrived at the room with a maid waiting outside, more than likely locked with magic. Though this girl has a different energy signature than the other students, it's odd. The servants have so little energy that they can't use it at all from what I felt. The magic users here have this feeling of strictness to their magic that seems costly if forced another way. This maid however, seems to have a fluid like feel to her energy. It feels watered down but it may come back to full if trained.
"My Lord?" Asked the maid, Siesta if I recall. "Is there anything wrong?" I realized I was staring at her. Miss Longueville nowhere to be seen.
"No, no. I felt a familiar energy coming from you." She tilts her head at that. "Did you have a family member that seemed out of place?"
"My great-grandfather was said to be out of place with the town but they loved him anyways." She pauses for a second and hands me a silver key. "Anyway, this is the key to the room Miss Longville gave me to give to you. Said it is expensive to replace, so don't lose it." I hum to that. It looks like pure silver but enchanted to be very sturdy.
"We can talk in the room, come now." I open the door to a spacious room with a double bed. "I take it you are to return to the servant's quarters when you are done for the day?" She nods. "Okay, then we need to set a schedule. You are up early in the morning, usually before sunrise, yes?" A nod. "Good, just keep the room clean while I'm away. I'm self sufficient as it is so just do that." I get another nod.
"Now back to your lineage, I may ask the headmaster to get your contract, if I can, to help you. Reason being is your energy is a watered-down variant of mine. Magicka." She gasps. "Your family will have this too, so I will seek the headmaster in the morning to protect your family from other lords. I get the feeling there are some who hire you all just to use you." Siesta pauses for a second, like she is thinking on what to tell me.
"Yes, there is one who is coming soon. Lord Mott, the Royal Messenger. He seeks those who strike his fancy and we never hear of them again. It's sad truly." She says, now confident that I would protect her. Interesting. Those in power so far seem to abuse it, with no higher authority seeming to care or they can't find anything. Seems like Mott hides his well since he is the Royal Messenger, he can't afford to get caught.
Time goes by as we talk of varying things. State of the country, her family, the Crown, and finally religion. Seems the Church of Brimir doesn't like other religions, if you pray to another deity or higher power and get caught then you are a heretic of the highest order. So when one is found they are either converted or killed and their lands crusaded against. Elves are big topic here as well.
Apparently, they are the darkest evil in the world. Can't be talked to and all powerful from nature magic and spirits. I think they use a different focus or source for the magic they wield. I'll have to go see if I can find one willing to talk, they may attack based on bias alone though.
Other than that, the night comes quickly, and Siesta has to retire for the night. I look around for a short time and start to take off my arms and armor. The rifle is the most advanced piece on me due to the invention of black powder though the rifle is of my own design and I know no one else has one because they are all muzzle-loaded unlike mine. After I get into some light clothes for the night I look out the window to the twin moons.
They look like Masser and Secunda if they were bright colors like these two. I get in bed and think of the morning to come as there is a lot to do. I pull a spare journal out and write down what happened today and what I need to do come morning.
5E 504 Turdas, 12th of Morning Star
Seems like my luck is still in the extremes as I have fallen into a situation that has pulled me from my home. Summoned to become a slave to a little girl is something that I would never have thought of happening, except maybe Sheogorath would have a hand in it if he wanted to.
Girl may contact the Crown when she sends her letters out for her family as she has failed to get a familiar, in which case is me as I was summoned. Her mother is a grand fighter and will most likely duel me for this.
Judging on how everything is there won't be any Daedric presence anytime soon as this is how it felt when the Dragonfires were still lit from what Father told me. But there will be whispers but I don't think they will stay here long as the church of this land doesn't take too kindly to other faiths.
Met a maid (still need to talk with Osmond about that) as well named Siesta. She has watered down Magicka running though her and more than likely her family. Going to try to get her contract to protect her from local lords as they abuse power.
Elves are another sore subject here as apparently, they are the greatest evil on the land, from what Siesta told me they cannot be talked to as they will attack any human in sight. I will try and talk to one when I find one but that will be held back for now.
It has been a while for me as work and video games took up all the time. Working graveyard shift sucks all the time I have as its work, wind down, sleep, and repeat. I'm going to try and write more but if I do it'll be slow going as mentioned before. I'm in the process of watching FoZ but I have some idea of the story from reading some of the fanfiction, so this is me telling you that it might off for some characters. The rifle is a Martini-Henry that has some changes to it. Other than that... Nothing else comes to mind.
