The room was inky black with just a dusting of moonlight filtering through the window.
It was a restless night filled with dark shadows and darker dreams, A sigh escaped his lips, it was an all too familiar feeling.
Shunsui Kyoraku rolled onto his side and let out another tired sigh. This was going to be another long night of little sleep.
He could have sworn he felt the bedding dip slightly as if someone had slid into the bed with him.
It wasn't possible.
Yet there was a soft touch, followed by a gentle kiss between his shoulder blades. He didn't dare move, he didn't dare breathe.
An arm slipped around his midsection and the fingers tapped his chest. He almost spoke but the hand flew upwards and covered is mouth.
"Hush! Just for tonight." was whispered in his ear. He could only nod in acknowledgment. "Let this be enough for now, I can't stay long."
A long, lean leg draped over his as the body behind him molded even closer to his own.
It was such a familiar feeling he soon drifted off to sleep. Hells gentle gatekeeper still calmed his restless soul.
When he awoke the next morning the bed was still as empty as it had been for years. With the exception of a single black tipped long silver hair.
"Thank you my love." Shunsui whispered through the hot tears that streamed down his face.
