Badniks cornered Tails and some shaky civilians, drawing closer with each second.
"When I say so," The fox instructed. "Run."
He waited, until the time was just right. "Now!"
Panicked, they all ran away swiftly.
"Get to HQ, I've got this!" The fox spun his Tails, creating smoke to block the robots' sensors. To get out of he flew to the top of a half blown up wall.
While they were distracted, a blue hedgehog spin dashed into every single one, blowing them all up and landing graciously in front of the remains. "And.. scene." He quipped, the smug look on his face intensifying as he bowed. "You really need a new hobby Egghead." The blue blur sighed dramatically. "I'm hurt I wasn't invited to the bashing though."
Proud of their teamwork, Tails came back down. "Hey Sonic! Thanks for helping me out by the way! You're cutting it kinda close though pal."
"Psh, I always rush in at an intense moment!"
Suddenly, Eggman became smug and chuckled obnoxiously. "Ohohoho, I'm not done yet!"
Sonic rolled his eyes and spin-dashed midair to get rid of the buffoon. He was an inch away from him, but he suddenly got launched away and onto the ground.
"Shadow? What are you doing here?"
One by one, rivals crashed down, revealing themselves.
"Zavok? Metal? Chaos! Something's up. We defeated them a long time ago. And whose this guy?" Sonic pointed at the mysterious figure.
Eggman didn't reply at all and had an even bigger grin than ten seconds ago.
"Alright then. I'll have to find out myself!" Sonic charged at the speed of sound towards the floating creature, but it got dodged. It looked so effortless.
"Huh?" He said, completely in shock.
"This guys faster than Sonic!" His best friend yelled, standing behind some rubble. Tails ran up to try and find out who this guy was, and where their power was coming from.
Sonic tried to attack once again, but got uppercut into the open air. He then was flung into a crumbling wall, and collapsed on the brick floor.
"He isn't actually faster than Sonic, it's something else." Tails scanned the character in hopes to help his big brother.
The hedgehog shouted as he tried to stand up "Argh, bud, now's the time to tell me how to get rid of this thing!"
"I'm trying!"
When Sonic finally got back on his feet, Zavok attempted a punch. Luckily the rodent was fast enough to block it, leaving a chance to strike. He kicked him in the face, and multiple times in the chest. It was just enough to knock him down.
Sonic boosted, launching himself into the sky. He was about to attack Infinite, when he was stopped once again, this time by Metal. It was another safe landing pulled off by The Blue Blur, and he had just enough momentum to try again.
He propelled himself back into the atmosphere, and dashed as fast as he could towards the floating man. The jackal dodged it once more. Sonic was back on the floor. As soon as he glanced up, he was ambushed by Chaos. The transparent blob reached for Sonic's neck, striving to get him in a choke hold. Struggling, Sonic had both of his hands countering the attack, and all of his attention was on Chaos as he tried to pry them off of him. Which gave the mystery foe an opening. He surprised Sonic from behind, knocking him hard onto the ground.
"Nice work Infinite!" Eggman shouted pridefully as he laughed at the poor hedgehog getting his butt handed to him.
"Tails... I need to know how to get rid of them right now!"
The fox started to get overwhelmed, yelling back "I'm trying Sonic, but these readings are messed up! They don't make any sense..."
The masked fella met The Rodent on the floor, swinging at him with a punch. Sonic avoided it with a limbo. He made space between him and the enemy, but got caught up to. Sonic was roundhouse kicked into a half wall, and once again, was about to crash on the ground. But before he could meet it, Sonic was booted into the sky like a soccer ball, and was combo-ed by not only the overpowered villain, but Zavok, Shadow, Chaos and Metal too. The clone of Sonic was the one to finish the job, smacking him in the spine. He tumbled down, desperately trying to get up again, but didn't have the strength.
Suddenly the world around him went black, but just before he lost consciousness, he heard a shout of pure shock and fear. "NO SONIC"! It was his best friend, tearing up.
