Her Summoner
Final Fantasy Dissidia/X & X-2
Characters: Rikku, Baralai, Tidus.
Notes: So this is sorta based off of This Time Around that I'm writing which is a Summoner Tidus AU and Rikku is his first Guardian. Losta stuff's happened between there and now/being called to Dissidia-land. And Baralai's there, too. And yes there's a smidge hint of Baralai/Rikku and Tidus/Baralai to go along with the Tidus/Rikku because it's part of the original fic but it's lowkey background stuff. And also, my Warrior of Light/Summoner for Dissidia is named Arlumia-a name that is by default, my OC character that shows up in many, many worlds/places/times within FF and other places. Anyway, enjoy this lil blurb.
It sucked when you were a Guardian without your Summoner in a new, strange place.
Aside from being unnerved in general, the fact the one you were supposed to be guarding wasn't with you at all makes it all the more so.
Rikku was both jumpy and wary when she was summoned to this strange, new world.
Of course, familiar faces were here, but...
Well...
They weren't hers for lack of a better term.
The Tidus and Yuna that were here?
From a completely different timeline than her.
Her heart had jumped in hope and excitement when she first spotted them, but then felt dismay soon after when she realized, no, it wasn't her Summoner and Yunie.
That's right. Her Summoner.
Where was he?
This Tidus was just a Guardian to Yuna and... Well, a very good one at that, with the way Yuna relied on him so much here in this world.
She couldn't stop the green-eyed tinge of jealousy that flared in her whenever she saw them together.
She missed the Tidus from her world.
She was his Guardian, after all! What's a Guardian without their Summoner?
She wasn't that worried about Tidus in general, he was strong on his own and had been Guardian-less before she came along, but...
...It was lonely.
She guessed it wasn't all that bad, though.
There really was a familiar face here.
The Baralai that was here was from her world, at least. So it wasn't as lonely, and they could commiserate together their lack of a Summoner.
And when the other had embraced her when she confessed her loneliness, well... That had felt nice, too. Hugs were great. Warm and fuzzy. Baralai was on the quiet side, but he was a caring man, if the way he pleaded and bargained for his friends' safety when they'd stumbled upon them after Operation Mi'hen spoke anything.
Of course, one of those people was Gippal, so of course she had to agree. Not that Tidus would've refused anyway, but him knowing she knew one of them helped.
But now here they were, away from Spira, and away from their Summoner.
"You think he's okay?" She asked Baralai.
He gave her a reassuring smile, nodding his head. "I believe he is; he's strong in both mind and body. But if I had to make guesses... I'm sure he's missing you." He answered.
Rikku felt her face flushing the slightest. "H-hey! It wouldn't just be me he missed! He said we're both important to him as Guardians!" She stammered before playfully swinging ber fists towards the other.
That had the other chuckling faitnly, raising his hands up in surrender. "Cunno," He responded in Al-Bhed. "I suppose you're right. But you've been at his side longer than I. You know him best."
"T-that doesn't mean he values me over you!" She exclaimed.
"No, but I think he holds you special." The other responded with another smile.
That smile both disarmed her as well as flustered her.
"Ohh, you..." Her cheeks puffed a little before deflating and slumping her shoulders, letting out a heavy sigh.
She made a small whine of annoyance as she fidgeted back and forth on her feet.
"E fyhd so Summoner... E fyhd so vneaht." She wibbled, her lowere lip jutting out in a pout.
Baralai gave another quiet chuckle before he offered his hand out towards her. "I heard there's to be new Summons today, shall we go see? Hopefully among them will be one we know." He said.
Her eyed widened a little, hope glimmering within her swirl-green eyes.
She took the blond's hand and quickly bounced over to his side and together they made their way to the room within the Tower that held the Summoning Circle.
A few of the others were there, hoping to be reunited with someone they knew.
Arlumia, cloaked in her glimmering white robes, made her way to the center of the circle, a staff in her hand, atop it a beautiful Crystal in the shape of a heart with a crown on it.
"I shall summon forth new Champions for the realm." She spoke quietly.
Turning, she held her staff up, and a glow formed around her and she spun around, ether and magic swirling around as one by one, the circles in the room began to illuminate and glow.
She stopped her spin, and firmly slammed the tip of her staff down onto the circle she was standing on.
"Come forth, Heroes of Distant Worlds!" She cried.
All the seals from the circles glowed and figures began to take shape within each one.
Many of the figures were unfamiliar to Rikku, but within the final seal...
"Whoa... What the-Where am-" Came an all too familiar voice.
Rikku took a deep breath as her eyes scanned the Tidus that stood there before them. She didn't have to get far before her eyes fell on the object that hung around the other's neck before she all but rushed forward.
"Ed'c oui! Oui'na rana!" She cried joyfully as she latched onto her Summoner's arm in a tight grip.
Baralai chuckled quietly when Tidus' face turned confused for a moment before he recognized the girl at his side.
"It's good to have our Summoner with us." Baralai added in with a nod and a smile to the other.
The object Rikku was staring at to identify her Summoner was the goggles that hung around his neck.
When Tidus first said she was his Guardian, she'd been astounded, surprised, and also in disbelief.
When she asked him if he meant it, he took off the necklace that hung around his neck and offered it to her and said it was a sign of promise.
Well, a promise went both ways. So she took the goggles she had off around her neck and traded them to the other with a broad grin.
The weight of the pendant on the necklace dug into her chest a little as she put her arms fully around Tidus and squeezed him. "Hey, you big dummy! It's hard to be a Guardian when their Summoner isn't near, you know!" She cried.
His familiar laugh filled her with warmth and the smile he gave her in response set her heart pounding.
"Sorry, sorry! I guess it would be, huh? My bad. But hey, I'm here now, right? It'll be okay." He assured before looking around at the unfamiliar room.
"Sooo... Next question: Where are we?"
Rikku and Baralai both let out a laugh as they motioned for their Summoner to follow as they began to explain their new location and why.
Rikku though, stayed much closer to Tidus, keeping one hand fixed around his wrist.
A moment later, though, she found her hand within his and found her eyes widening as she glanced up towards the other.
He gave her his typical broad grin, blue eyes sparkling as the light reflected in them, making all thought and breath leave the girl before she found her heart thundering in her chest and her face automatically twisting to mirror and match that grin with one of her own.
Her Summoner was special, and she was his Guardian.
She would keep him close.
