Syl finally gets to catch up to DarkSlyde, but the news he gives her will shake her up some. Hope you enjoy.
Sly Cooper and the Gang in: Syl's Discovery
Syl arrived at the same park her mother landed, except there was police tape around the perimeter and police officers guarding the area. She used the improved shadow technique to turn invisible so she could avoid detection. She searched the area and found a piece of her mom's clothing. She grabbed and snuck past the guards. When she was far enough away, she became visible again.
She approached a newspaper stand to see if it could give her any leads. Upon reading it, she discovered that Neyla was arrested after assaulting Chief Carmelita Fox, with the aid of her husband, Sly Cooper, a retired Master Thief. What was more shocking was reading about her mother's connection to the Klaww Gang and her eventually taking over Clockwerk's body.
"Okay," said Syl. "With my mom's DNA plugged into my binocucomm, I should be able to find her."
She looked at the coordinates and climbed up a fire escape, enabling her to jump across rooftops. As she was exploring the alternate Paris, she spotted DarkSlyde jumping across rooftops towards a different direction. Syl decided to follow him, keeping a distance to avoid getting caught.
After a few minutes, DarkSlyde broke into the Cooper penthouse through the balcony door. The grandparents,Indigo and Maria Fox, jumped up from the couch, grabbing the foxcoon twins for safety.
"So, you're the twins belonging to the retired Master Thief and Interpol Chief," said DarkSlyde.
"And who are you, Carbon," asked Indigo.
" Mi amor," said Maria. "Not in front of the niñas."
"Let's just say I'm eager to adopt," said the villain.
Before either party could do anything, Syl snuck behind the assailant, tripping him with her cane, planting something on him. As the villain was on the ground, she turned to the grandparents and twins. "Go," she shouted. "Call the police!"
"Who are you," asked Indigo.
"Nevermind that! Get to safety!"
The family did as they were told. After they left, DarkSlyde stood up, chuckling. "Do you know who they were?"
"I'm guessing Sly and Carmelita's family," said Syl.
"Correct. But do you know why Carmelita is the mother and not Neyla?"
Syl crossed her arms. "Assume I don't."
"In this universe, your mother chose to betray your father. All she cared about was achieving ultimate power, and what could be more powerful than becoming Clockwerk himself?"
"And you know all this how?"
"I've done my homework on this universe. I thought since she had children, I could raise them as my own."
Syl narrowed her eyes, pulling out a device, pushing the button with her thumb. "Not on my watch."
Suddenly, gas sprayed from DarkSlyde's suit, knocking him unconscious.
"I planted a gas bomb strong enough to knock out a hoard of elephants," she said, smirking.
Ron Ryans entered the condo. "Ah f*! I missed the boss fight!" He turned to check out Syl. "You must be Alternate Sly's daughter."
"How'd you-"
"I read the fanfiction," said the hyena. He leaned in closer to her. "So…I hear you just turned 18."
Syl raised an eyebrow, looking uncomfortable. "Yeeeaaahhh?"
He handed her a shock pistol. "Happy birthday. Don't worry, it's not lethal. I had real guns once, but the International Bail-Bond Agency prefers our targets alive."
"Uh…thanks…" She reluctantly takes it.
"Anyway," the hyena puts an arm around the young woman. "Are you seeing anyone?"
She pushes him away. "Hold on, creep! I don't even know you!"
Ron removed the mask, revealing a handsome face. "Ron Ryans. Friend of the Cooper family in this universe."
"Heh," chuckled Syl. "Well, you're better looking than I thought. Anyway, can you take me to my mom?"
"If I do, do I get a kiss?" He puckered his lips.
"How about a black eye?" Syl replied with an evil smirk.
Ron backed up, putting his hands in front of him defensively. "Touche. But I think I should wait here with him in case he wakes up." He pointed to DarkSlyde. "Don't worry, Carmelita should be here to help you in 3…2…"
"Hands up," shouted Carmelita. "On your knees, now!"
Syl instinctively smacked her shock pistol out of her hands before tripping her to the ground. She pointed her cane at her. "Where's my mother?"
Carmelita's eyes widened. "Wait…who are you?"
"My name is Syl Cooper."
"Syl? Your name is Sylvia too?"
"What?"
"Yeah," said Ron. "Her twins are named Carmen and Sylvia. Hehe, what a funny coincidence."
"So you're the daughter this alternate Neyla talked about," asked Carmelita.
"Anyway," said Ron. "Why don't you take her to Neyla? I'll watch the-" he turned his head to see that DarkSlyde was gone. He gasped dramatically, putting his hands on both sides of his cheek.
"Where'd he go," asked Syl. "How'd he wake up so fast?"
"My guess," said Ron. "He can take a bit more than a hoard of elephants."
"Now we'll never find him!"
Ron pulled out an Interpol badge. "Can this help?"
Syl snatched the badge with Carmelita over her shoulder. "Wait, did you loot him?"
Ron smirked behind his mask. "Maybe."
"Wait," said Carmelita. "That's my badge.". She grabbed hers to see if she had it, which she did."
"Do you think it's from his universe," asked Syl.
Ron shrugged. "Probably."
"Why would he carry my badge around?"
"I don't know," said Syl. "Maybe something happened to you in his universe."
"Anywho," said Ron. "We should go see your mom. I bet she misses you."
A few minutes later
After going to Bentley's lab, Neyla – now untied – ran over to Syl, hugging her tightly. "I thought I'd never see you again."
"I'm glad you're okay, mom." Syl said.
Neyla pulled away. "Where's your father?"
Syl scratched the back of her head. "I kinda fixed the machine and left when everyone was asleep."
Neyla's eyes widened. "You left on your own?"
"I left a note."
"But what if they can't find you?"
"Too late for that," said a familiar voice.
Sly from Wolvehulk's universe appeared. Neyla, overjoyed at seeing her husband again, ran to him. They embraced with a passionate kiss.
"I'm going to assume that this is your ringtail and not my husband," said Carmelita, angered at the sight.
Alternate Sly turned to see Carmelita. "Is this the bizarro universe?"
"It's a long story, dad." Syl said.
Sly embraced Syl before pulling back, disappointment in his eyes. "What were you thinking, young lady."
"Dad, I-"
"I told you not to leave. You could've been killed!"
"Dad," said Syl, frustration slowly brewing.
"When we get back, you're-"
"Dad, listen to me!" Syl shouted, getting her father's attention. "You can't baby me forever. Especially after I took down DarkSlyde by myself!"
"DarkSlyde," asked Carmelita.
"Long story," said Neyla. "Wait, you took him down all by yourself?"
"How," asked Sly. "He took down all of us single handedly."
"I planted a powerful sleep bomb on him," Syl smirked.
There was a pause before the three of them burst into laughter.
"But how did you find me," asked Neyla.
"Uncle Bentley and Aunt Penelope modded the portal to pinpoint your location with your DNA."
"Wait," said Bentley. " Aunt Penelope?"
"Wow," said Syl. "This universe is darker than ours."
"You have no idea," said Neyla.
"Plus, I made these in case we get lost." Syl pulled out the tracking device.
" You made those," asked Neyla.
"Yep," said Syl, smirking. "My aunt and uncle taught me well."
"Sly," said Neyla. "If she's accomplished this much, then she's more than ready to lend a hand."
"But Neyla-"
"I know you care about her, and I'm just as uneasy, but our little girl is all grown up. Grown up and ready to take on the world."
Alternate Sly gave a reluctant sigh. "You're right." He turned to his daughter. "Syl, I'm sorry I've been so hard on you. It's just-"
"I know, dad." Syl hugged her father. "It's okay."
"Anyway," said Neyla. "We need to find a way to track down this DarkSlyde character."
Syl pulled out the badge Ron took. "If he's gone to another universe, this should lead us to him."
Neyla and alternate Sly looked at the badge. "This belongs to Ol' Ironsides."
"What does this mean," asked Sly.
"It means something happened to her in his universe," said Carmelita. "The question is what."
And that's the end of that episode. I'm planning to cover the Sly/Predator crossover in a later episode. The next one will explore an alternate universe inspired by Batman: Flashpoint Paradox by DC Comics. R .
