The pouring rain filled the chilly night, and thunderclaps echoed in the distance. A scared little koopaling rushed to his mother's bedroom and stared at her in distress, mumbling, "Mamma…."

Luigi opened her sleepy eyes to see her son standing by her bedroom door and looked at him with sympathy, "had another nightmare?" the koopaling nodded, "c'mere…" she gestured for him to lie on the bed with her. The koopaling rushed to the bed and got under her covers. He then embraced his mother and went back to sleep. She waited until her son was in a deep sleep to go to bed again. However, she heard a knock at the front door. She rose from her pillow and frowned. 'who could it be at this time of night?' Luigi wondered, alarmed. She got out of bed, making sure not to wake her son up. Luigi walked towards her son's room, grabbed the koopaling's black metal bat, and headed for the door. On her way, she heard another knock, a little more desperate than the first. When Luigi got to the door and reached for the handle. She unlocked and twisted the doorknob, opening the door. Bat raised, prepared to attack if anything happened. She gasped at the figure by her door, causing her to let go of the item she had in her hands.

A soaking wet koopa was at her front door and laid eyes on Luigi; surprised and happy to see her, he said, "G-Green Bean!"

Excitement rushed through him. It had been 5 years since he last saw Luigi's beautiful face. 5 years of sadness and regret. 5 years of which he wished he could turn back time. But none of that mattered. She was standing there, in front of him, healthy and whole. He wanted to embrace her, tell her how much he missed her. He wanted her to forgive him for what he did. When the Koopa found out she was back, he rushed to her place without thinking. He was so desperate to see her. And here he was, at her front door on the cold and rainy night. He couldn't believe she answered. He thought that this would have been another disappointment. She wouldn't be there, but she was…, and more beautiful than ever. She had let her hair grow, her locks reached her hips, and she had pretty bangs on her face.

Luigi's shock turned into anger and fear, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" Luigi was livid, angry, hurt, even. The audacity to come to her house, to look for her when he was the one who didn't even want to see her again!

The koopa hesitated, "I… well I… I just wanted to say… I'm… sorry and, I missed you…"

This was a bad idea from the start. The Koopa knew it was stupid to just barge in and to expect she would swoon over him and quickly say, 'Hey, I forgive you, let's be happy together!' it didn't work like that. He was stupid to believe it did. He could see her anger, and he could sense her fear. But somehow, he felt her fear wasn't towards him if not something else. What could have Luigi so tense and fearful? Maybe he was just imagining things, and she was afraid of him.

"You honestly thought I would easily forgive you!" she couldn't believe him! He really thought it was that easy. "oh, I see. You just thought, 'Hey, it's Luigi. She easily forgives people. Easy gullible Luigi, right!? Well, not this time Bowser!" the original Luigi might have forgiven and forgotten, but she certainly wasn't that Luigi.

"Well, kind of!" The king of the koopas replied, frustrated.

"Mamma, what's going on? What's with all the noise?" the little koopaling said while rubbing his eyes sleepily.

Bowser looked at Luigi's son with shock and held his breath. Horrified, Luigi slammed the door in the Koopa's face. She couldn't believe this! In the blink of an eye, the secret she had been guarding for 5 years was revealed. Oh, why did this happen to her, of all people? She should have never returned! How stupid of her. She knew if she came back, he would show his face eventually, but not this fast, and she certainly didn't expect this soon. Luigi was hoping she would have had enough time to leave again. Then, it would have been too late for him to see her. But no, Bowser was at her door and saw his son. Luigi heard Bowser banging on the door, wanting to explain why there was a little koopaling that looked exactly like him. She was not in the mood to answer that question, at least not yet.

"Listen up, Jr… remember the bag I told you to prepare just in case of emergencies?" Jr stared at her mother thoughtfully and nodded, "Good boy, go get it" The little koopaling rushed to his room to grab it. She wasn't going to stay and explain this to him. He didn't even deserve to know Jr existed. She held Jr's hand and rushed to the secret emergency tunnel in the basement below. Where it leads straight to the Mushroom Kingdom and away from Bowser. She knew this won't stop him from looking for her again, but it was enough to leave again and, this time, probably never return. She felt guilty just thinking about it, but it was for the best, wasn't it? Halfway through the tunnel, Luigi stopped and hesitated for a moment. Should she be doing this to them? This wasn't how the brunette wanted things to go. However, she didn't wish for Jr to be taken away from her. Luigi would be devastated if they took him from her, heartbroken even. She shook her head and continued while holding Jr's hand. He was not taking her son from her!

When they both exited the tunnel, they saw Princess Peach's castle. Luigi grabbed Jr's raincoat from the bag and her umbrella and headed towards the court. It was time to see Uncle Mario...
