Greatest American Hero (Hero League 5): Saving Maria
Chapter 1
Maria had a bad dream. She had been having these dreams for the last few months. They were always the same.
She was sick, and everywhere on her body hurt. She cried for her mother to make it stop, but she wasn't there because she was also sick and writhing in pain in bed in the next room. Everyone in the village was either sick or dead. It had all started a week before; eventually, everyone had the sickness and was dying.
Strange people were walking around the village and into everyone's houses. They wouldn't help anyone in the village and just watched as each person died, writing down the times of each death.
Maria always woke from this dream screaming and crying.
Sometimes in her dreams, a red angel came and took the sickness away, and then other red angels would come and take all the strange people away and save everyone from getting sick.
When she woke from these dreams, she always felt hopeful that something good would come to the village.
