Chapter 3

It had been three months since the announcement of Pam's pregnancy, and everything was going well, with no problems indicated. Ralph was also doing well with his therapy sessions, now only having to go once a month. The anger management sessions helped him learn how to handle his anger and frustration. He felt very calm and relaxed most of the time and could use relaxation methods when necessary. He especially enjoyed the meditation classes and continued with the more advanced courses learning the more profound meditation methods taught by a Buddhist monk named Kenji. Everyone called him Kenjisama.

Kenjisama told Ralph that he was doing very well with his meditation. He was advancing more quickly than the other students and could reach more profound levels of meditation. During one session, Ralph noticed his mind lifting away from his body, and he could turn and look back at himself, thinking how strange he looked. He heard a familiar voice behind him and would have turned to see who it was, but he noticed Kenjisama walk up to his body, lean over, and whisper in Ralph's ear, "Come back to your body." Ralph snapped back to his body and instantly opened his eyes.

Ralph asked, "What just happened?" feeling strange and unsure where he was.

Kenjisama explained, "You have had an out-of-body experience. Your mind was at such a deep level of meditation that it could break the physical bond and float away. I could tell by how your aura had changed and called you back."

He explained, "This can be very dangerous if you are not properly trained to return to your body. Ralph, we should work in private sessions for you to learn these techniques."

Some other students were jealous of Ralph, once again being the first to reach such a level of meditation.

Ralph felt strange the rest of the day, like someone was always behind him. He couldn't shake it. Ralph would have to talk to Kenjisama about it at the next session. Recently Ralph had started having lucid dreams, so realistic he wasn't sure if they were dreams or happening to him or the person he was in the dream. In many of these dreams, he was someone else, living another person's life.

He told Pam about the lucid dreams and how strange he always felt when he awoke. Pam recommended, "You should talk to Kenjisama about the dreams.

Ralph agreed, "I'll talk to him tomorrow."
