Chapter Forty-Five
The Waking Avenger: Sasuke
A/N: WARNING-The character known as Sage Amesawa uses a lot of profanity and colorful language as part of his "colorful" personality. Be prepared if you are sensitive to that. Please note it is not because I condone such manner of speech, and also the character does not mean to use it as a way to be harmful, it is just his personality.
"What...Sasuke!?" Sakura gasped softly.
The Twin Uchiha had her own questions as to why as well...
It wasn't long until Shikamaru's Shadow fell back...
I hate it when it does that!
he huffed, clenching his teeth while still holding the empty shell of a body that was Ino, whose soul was currently residing in Kin.
"I see your paralysis jutsu only has a limited duration..." Dosu stated as he felt himself released from the shadow's grasp.
"Shadow Possesion Justsu! Get it right!" Shikamaru huffed.
"Hmph...and your friend there can slip her soul into her opponent...however whatever happens to them...happens to her too, correct?"
Shikamaru twitched as Dosu went on.
"So say, if Kin were to die..."
"So what are you going to do!?" Shikamaru asked, "Kill your own team mate!?"
"Well...if push comes to shove...Yeah~" Zaku smirked.
"Dammit...what a drag!" Shikamaru huffed.
"Yeah...no kidding..." Choji groaned, finally having recovered from his dizzy spell from his dizzying boulder attack.
"Did you really think you could beat us?" Zaku smirked, "Face it, you ninja are just a bunch of hacks!"
"From a second rate village." said Dosu.
"...That's pretty tough talk...!" another voice cut through the tension.
An all too familiar one...
"...Neji!" Saseme called out as she looked up to find him and Ten Ten standing above the crowd.
"I guess that makes your village Third rate!" he scoffed, "I wonder if any of you ameteurs are ready to take on the real thing!"
"It's Lee team!" said Sakura.
I wondered when they'd get here...
"Lee!" Ten Ten called out having taken noticed of their fallen comrade.
"You blew it...fool." Neji huffed- taking a sharp gasp as he took notice of Saseme just past him.
It's Saseme...
he thought to himself.
She looks awful...
He took the moment to annalyze the situation.
I see...so did they help put you in that state, Saseme?
He scoffed.
She sure has a habit of getting herself into messes, doesn't she...?
"Grrh...these genin keep popping out of the woods like Cockroaches..." Dosu grumbled.
"...It looks to me like someone used our team mate as a punching bag..." said Neji.
Saseme gulped and took cover further back leaving Sakura, Hana and Sage all with questioning looks.
"Trust me- keep your distance..." she stated, "Thhis isn't going to be good..."
"NO ONE DOES THAT AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!" Declared Neji- Byakugan at full flare, "And as for the Uchiha Girl..."
"Huh?" Sage and Hana both blinked and shifted their gaze to Saseme.
"What!? Don't look at me-" she defended herself with a ight fluster, "What gives Neji!? Why are you dragging me into this!?"
"Simply put..." Neji growled, "No one messes with you except for me! Got it!?"
"HUH!?" well that certainly came out of left field, and made her flush burn hotter, "Grrh- YOU ASS!" she huffed while Hana and Sage tried to stifle their snickers, "And you two- SHUT UP!"
Still though...his eyes...
Saseme thought to herself.
The Byakugan eyes...they see through everything...
"No more playing around Ten Ten-" said Neji, "Full Power!"
"Right! said the brunette, before bing startled by Neji's sudden change in composure.
This Chakra...
he thought to himself.
"What's wrong, Neji!?"
"Well~?" Taunted Dosu, "Are you going to stay up there all day? Or are you going to come down here and do something about it!?"
"Hmph." Neji smirked, "Actually...it looks like it may have been taken out of my hands~"
"What?" Saseme blinked.
What could he mean by that...
Though it didn't take her long to figure out.
A sudden pulsation in her chest called her attention.
This...This Chakra is...
Her eyes slowly shifted to her brother.
"...It's Sasuke..." she stated.
He's waking up...!
But something about him feels...different...
Like fire, purple light swirled around him...sending chills through his sister's body.
"Sasuke..." she gulped.
...Is this really Sasuke...!?
His body rose, like a demon ascending out of Hell Fire... shifting his eyes to his sister beside him.
"...Saseme..." he spoke in a low gutteral growl, sending yet another chill right through her...that led to a cold sweat.
"...Are you all right?"
What...amd I all right!?
I should be asking YOU that...Sasuke...
She gulped.
"I...I'll be fine..." she said softly.
"Holy shit..." Sage whispered and moved back defensively, closer to his girls, "Is this...really your brother, Saseme?" he asked.
"He seems...different..." said Hana.
And far more deadly...
she gulped.
"Sasuke- you're awake-" she was pleased for a second, but even Sakura took notice of the sudden chill in the air that surrounded him...
and trembled in fear.
"Sakura..." Sasuke growled, "Who did this to you...?"
Sasuke...
Saseme gulped, trembling with the rest of her team... even Sage who took a defensive stand in front of the girls on his team had shaking knees.
"Who was it!?"
"Sasuke...what...?" Sakura gulped.
"B-brother...?" Saseme's voice trembled, causing a twitch from Sasuke's body as he slowly turned to peer at her through the swirling darkness.
"Y-Your body..." she stated, "What's happening...?"
"...Don't worry." he said softly, "I'm all right...it's only the power flowing through me..."
Power?
Saseme wondered.
...What sort of power is this...?
"In fact...I've never felt better." said Sasuke, "He gave me this gift...and he made me understand what I am..."
"...He?" Saseme gulped, "...He who?...Sasuke..."
What are you...?
"...I'm an Avenger..."
