Author's note Drabble exercises at 3 am. Just an attempt of a what-if scenario. Thanks for reading! This is a one-shot.
"She got that flustered just because… I flattered her a little?"
Oi oi oi oi wait…
"Honestly, she's so easy to manipulate."
OI OI OI!?
"You really should learn to doubt people more, Kana Arima."
What the hell am I saying!?
"They'll always exploit you."
…
What a stupid idiot.
He notices his eye twitching.
His two jet-black irises brighten faintly.
No matter what lies you tell yourself.
"I can't hide who I am."
What was that?
As she was climbing down the flight of stairs, Kana could've sworn she heard someone's sobbing, quaint as they may be.
Is it…
She stops in her tracks and looks around. Trying to find the source of faint sobbing isn't so easy. Maybe her mind is just playing tricks on her?
Hmm…
She listens a bit more closely this time, clearing her mind and focusing on locating the source of this sobbing.
Why do I even care, what will I even say...
Her hearing would not be something she holds pride in, but there's no mistaking it, she's sure of it. The noise is coming from upstairs, but the only person there is…
Aqua!?
He stands up and looks out the window, still wondering what the deal is with his blurry vision.
I guess I can't escape the fate of wearing glasses, even now.
He didn't know why, but he couldn't help but try to look for the red-haired former idol.
Huh… She left not that long ago, she shouldn't be so far away that she's out of sight from the window…
The pitter patter of shoes can be heard across the hallway, though with the teen too engrossed in his thoughts, he hadn't noticed.
*SLAM*
"A-KUN?!"
"Ka… na?"
That look on your face…
He couldn't help but notice her pained expression as she set her eyes upon his face.
"Is there something on my face?"
Wordlessly, she walks closer to him, staring at the ground and silently still, and stopped right next to the window.
"So quiet... I thought communication was key for an actor? You've been gone from the business for a while so maybe you forgot."
The aura around the both of them lay thick in the air, leaving the blue-eyed teen breathless. Eager to ease the tension, he thought of making a snide remark.
"Helloo~ Earth to Kana-san-!?"
His words were interrupted by two frail arms wrapping around his body, and a red-haired girl's face laying on his chest.
"I don't know the reason, so this is the least I can do."
"What do you… mean..?"
Midway through his sentence, he caught a glimpse of his reflection on the window.
Ah… so that's why my eyes are blurry.
'I'm crying.' He realized, as he looked at himself, all flushed and a stream of tears flowing down his cheeks. He hadn't even noticed he'd been crying for a while. His eyes were already noticeably pink in color.
With nothing else to do but let his tears flow, he wrapped his arms around her frame and laid in the warmth of their shared embrace… At least before they both realized what was going on, blushing while releasing each other.
"S-s-s-sorry! I p-p-panicked when I saw you crying all of a sudden!"
"Don't mind it... That said, why did you come back?"
"I was going down the stairs but I suddenly heard sobbing, and I tried to find the source so I could comfort them, or whatnot. I ran even faster when I realized it was you."
"That so? How touching."
"Jeez, can't you be less snide for once? Here I was concerned for… you."
She noticed a subtle smile forming on his face, perhaps she succeeded, perhaps this is a fake smile he put on to comfort her. Either way, it's better than seeing him crying.
"Why were you even crying?" She asked as she fixed her eyes on his face.
'Handsome…'
She shakes her head. 'Idiot, why am I thinking of that now?'
"Just… remembering mom. That's all."
Again, lies.
It's so easy to lie.
It's so easy, practically second-nature.
But I can't lie with my feelings for you, no matter how hard I try to fool myself.
So, at least, until I get my revenge…
But after that…
I wonder…
Author's note: Sorry for this confusing mess. As I said it was written at 3 am while high on caffeine. Sorry if this wasn't what you expected or if the characters were way-off character. Thanks for reading this thought!
