I had cleaned up the mess in the Dining Room.

I had cleaned up the mess in the Living Room.

There was a knock on the door.

I approached the door.

I opened it.

It was Detective Baker.

"Detective Baker."

"Can I come in?"

"Um... Sure."

"Is Kevin home?"

"No. He's working."

I let her in the house.

I shut the door.

"Please take a seat."

"Thank you."

Detective Baker sat on the couch.

"Can I get you anything to drink? Water? Soda? Wine?"

"No, thanks."

"Okay."

I sat in the armchair in here.

"So, what really happened last night?"

"I told you all about what happened last night."

"You don't need to protect Kevin."

"I'm not protecting him."

"I know the blood is yours."

"Mm."

"So, what happened last night?"

"I got in a fight with Elena."

"Elena is not strong enough to throw you."

"I think it's time for you to go."

"If Detective Tierney does it again, you call me."

She put her card on the middle cushion of the couch.

"It wasn't Kevin."

"Not everybody is gonna protect your abusive husband, Erin. Just remember that."

"I'll show you out."

"Excellent."

I opened the front door for Detective Baker.

"I hope you're not stupid enough to believe he won't do it again."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Okay."

She walked out.

I shut the door.

Leslie

"Get anything from the neighbors?"

"No. But Mrs. Feldman seemed to know more than she was letting on."

"Press her."

"Got it."

Mrs. Feldman

Erin and me were talking.

"I am sorry. I just- I couldn't do it."

"I know."

She gave me the money.

"Thank you for everything. Really."

Erin looked down.

"I wish I was strong enough to leave Kevin."

"You are."

There was a knock on the door.

It was the male Detective again.

She groaned.

I got up.

I opened the door.

"I have nothing further to say."

"Thanks for your time, Mrs. Feldman."

I shut the door.

Erin laughed.
