Dear Mother,

I hope this letter finds you well. As promised, I am writing a letter to inform you of my arrival at Manoa Lai. I would've had a video chat with you, but there's no Wi-Fi at the moment, and I've been too busy lately with preparations and my job interview to do it.

It's very hot here. I can barely get outside before I'm already sweating like a boar in a sauna. Thankfully, I'm in a hotel room in Ka'ai City on Rishu Island, which is part of a chain of islands that make up the nation of Pelago Commonwealth (formal name: Paoul Republic). Apparently, as you know, it's in Micronesia, South Pacific. It's owned by some European entrepreneur, so it's pretty nice, and it even has air conditioning — a luxury in the tropics!

I just finished my interview with my new boss, and he gave me the thumbs up, so it looks like I'll be here for a while. It seems the Boss wants me workin' immediately, since it appears that there aren't any divers other than me. It almost felt like the Boss would've been willing to pick anyone if it meant they could dive. Apparently, it sounds like my new co-worker can't swim, can you believe it! Can't swim? Doesn't that seem like an oxymoron in a location that's nothing but water? What's even funnier is that, from her description, it sounds like she'd be better off as a Google assistant manager than working for Marianas Foundation. Well, to each their own, I guess. This'll be interesting, for sure. Hahaha!

It's a pity that I won't be able to come back in time for your birthday. Hopefully, once I'm able to get some proper Wi-Fi and get a lull in my job, we can have a video chat and catch up. I know you must be lonely now that Dad's gone. Perhaps you can invite your girlfriends over? I know how happy you get when you're chattin' away knitting and crocheting things with company at your heels.

You could also call that useless, wayward brother of mine over and have him keep you company from time to time. It's the least he can do if he's not going to do anything for this family.

Well, I'll be off to meet my new co-worker tomorrow morning. Still need to pass my test dive before I'm officially accepted. She's my new handler, too, it seems. Just so long she ain't rough or dumps all the work on me, I'll be fine. Her name's Catherine Sunday, and she's a British ex-pat, according to her file. She used to live here for a time with her family, and is half-native, before moving to the UK.

Apparently, I'll also be working with another co-worker, Douglas Banner, who is her childhood friend. I wonder if he has any embarrassing stories to tell. Haha. He won't be there in person, but we'll be exchanging emails and texts/phone calls.

Based on our phone calls and emails, my new boss, Alfred Bollman, who's the head of the Pelago branch of the Marianas Foundation, is a polite, well-spoken man, and works with his wife collecting data and the like for the Foundation concerning the sea life. Seem's like the laid-back sort. This job might be more chill than I'm expecting.

Oh, well. Gotta go. It's about time for me to hit the sack. Got that test to take early tomorrow morning. Our headquarters is the motorized sailboat called the Gabbiano. It's apparently my co-worker's boat. I sure hope she doesn't sleep on the darn thing. Just thinking about it is making my back ache.

I'll VC you when everything calms down — perhaps tomorrow or the day after. It's 9:17 PM right now, meaning that, taking time zones into consideration, it's probably 1:17 PM over there now? I'll do my best to check the time so that I don't accidentally disturb your sleep. I've been worried ever since you told me you weren't feeling well.

I wish you many blessings, Mom. I hope to see you soon.

Your Beloved Son,

"Uno"

(P.S. Would you mind terribly if you could make me a hammock? It'd be nice to receive something from home. Plus, due to my job, it's likely I'll be sleeping on the boat from time to time, and it would be better to sleep in something comfortable.)

Author's Note:

Ahoy there, fellow divers! I can't believe it's been 2 years since my last EO fic! WAAAAH, WHERE'S THE TIME GONE?! O_O

This time, it's not a poem, but an actual fanfic, and this one is for EO1, not EO2. I wanted to do something for Mother's Day, and this came to mind, and I couldn't think of anything poem-wise for EO at the moment, so I had to make do with this. Hope you guys enjoy this.

This is my Player Character's partial backstory, and I plan on posting an actual character article that gets into detail concerning my OCs for EO1.

I'll try to make sure to write more EO fanfics in the future. I've got some poems in the works, and a couple more EO1 fanfics as well. Hope you guys stick around for them. Hopefully, there'll be no more 2-year hiatuses. XD

Many blessings to you and your family! I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!
