Chapter 4: The Autism Banquet

The next day, we all attended the annual autism banquet at the Harmar House out in Cheswick. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. While jamming out to NSYNC and 98 Degrees, we composed a Childhood Chat in which Emily Grey discussed playing a board game at 2 years old in downtown Pittsburgh, Sarah Ching discussed eating waffles for breakfast in 3rd grade in the North Side, Jessica Linden discussed talking in silly accents in 7th grade in Oakland, and Julia Robison discussed telling a silly story in 8th grade in the South Side. Carly, Spencer, and Mr. Benson discussed how fun it was attending a similar banquet when Carly was in middle school, and Alex, Justin, and Max discussed how grateful they were to be in the band with the one concert and how banquets make them feel like proud people. Then, while jamming out to Kate Bush and Lizzo, Isabella Black discussed playing a board game in preschool in Bloomfield, Natalie Bay discussed telling an inside joke in 8th grade in Highland Park, Rachel Luster discussed eating waffles for breakfast in preschool in Lawrenceville, Lauren Bennett discussed watching a funny movie in 1st grade in Morningside, Victoria Spurnick discussed sporting new socks in 10th grade in Point Breeze, Hannah Mifflin discussed talking in silly accents at the end of 6th grade in Regent Square, Emma Wallace discussed dancing to music at 18 years old in Squirrel Hill, and Brooke Leesaw discussed spreading gossip at 23 years old in Stanton Heights. Sarah, James, Henri, and I discussed seeing another high school baseball game sometime and the unseasonably hot weather we endured as kids, as well as selling lemonade, even if not in Monroeville Park, like Nicole Ellis talked about the previous day. For dinner, there was stuffed chicken breast, sliced roast beef with mushroom gravy, pasta with marinara and alfredo sauces, roasted seasoned redskin potatoes, green beans almandine, tossed salad, rolls with butter, and of course, a special cake. Once the banquet was over, it was time for all of us to head home. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
