After Bella jumps off the cliff, Jacob does his best to convince her to stay.

Jacob tugged Bella to her feet and watched as Liana got on Sam's back and disappear into the forest. "Come on. Let's get you home."

Bella was soaking wet and shivering, and she clung to Jacobs arm as he drove her truck to her door.

He stopped the truck and they sat, Bella still pressed up against his side. Jacob looked down at her. She was still shivering. "You need to get dry."

She stared up at him and leaned closer. "Yeah."

Jacob turned his face away. She was too close. The imprint didn't like it. He didn't like it. He glanced back and saw that Bella was looking down in disappointment. "Bella, you... are like a sister to me. I care about you, and I want to protect you. But I don't want you to think anything else."

She bit her lip. "Yeah, no, of course. I didn't think anything else. You're my best friend."

Jacob could hear a hint of a lie, but tried to leave it at that. "That's good."

He was uncomfortable with the thought that Bella liked him as more than a friend. When she first moved to Forks, he had a small crush on her, but it faded almost instantly. Even without the imprint, he was completely happy with Liana and never wanted it to change. Bella was like a mix between sister and friend.

"That's Carlisle's car." Bella suddenly exclaimed.

Great, more vampires. Just what he needed. "I'm coming in."

"No, Jake, don't. I'll be fine. They won't hurt me." Bella protested.

Jacob shuddered. "I'm not letting you go in there alone."

"Fine."

And then the already horrible night got worse. The tiny vampire, the evil pixie, was there to see if Bella was alive. The phone rang and a voice asked for Charlie. Jacob told whoever it was that he was preparing for a funeral.

Then the pixie convinced Bella to run off with her and save the bloodsucker that had left.

"Bella. Wait!" Jacob shouted. "You can't do this ."

"Yes, I can. I'm eighteen. I left them a note." Bella got into the car.

Jacob leaned down, a wave of vampire scent hurting his nose. "Think about your Dad. And your sister. Bella please. I'm begging you."

She shook her head. "I'm sorry, but I have to go."

Jacob closed his eyes. "If you do this you will hurt them. I can't promise that you will be welcomed if you come back with him."

She set her jaw.

"Will you stay? For them? For me?" He felt bad for asking that question, almost like he was betraying Liana, but this was for her. So that she didn't have to struggle with her sister anymore.

"I can't. I care about you Jake, but this is most important." The car roared off and Jacob backed away.

The imprint tugged at him. He could feel Liana's sorrow and longed to comfort her. He jogged to the forest.

Bella had made her choice. He wouldn't stand in her way, especially if she had any sort of romantic affection for him. It just felt wrong. He was with the Swan sister of his choice and of fates design. He didn't need any other.

He phased and was met again by a whirlwind of emotions and thoughts.

Leah was sobbing in her head and blaming herself and telling everyone to leave her alone. She didn't really seem to care that she was a wolf, she was too emotional.

Seth was whimpering and Jacob could feel his heartbreak. It was the saddest emotion he had ever felt and it almost made him start crying too.

Paul and Jared were trying to track the red head but to no avail.

Sam and Embry were each trying to calm the Clearwater siblings but it wasn't working well.

"Do you need me? Otherwise I'm headed to Sue's." Jacob thought to the pack.

Seth thoughts filtered in his head. "Mom. I want mom. She's probably crying. Mom."

"You can go." Sam allowed.

Jacob tried to reassure Seth as he ran. "She'll be okay. I promise. I'll check."

As he left the pack mind when he got to the house, he heard a few important thoughts.

"I'm sorry Leah."

"I hate this. I hate you."

"This actually is kind of cool."

"Yeah it is kid. Welcome to the pack."

Jacob pulled his clothes on and walked up the steps where he heard the sounds of four people breathing.
