Last night ended up being a total kill after what happened. Lucy felt completely mortified as well as a little uneasy. She just stayed at her home and had a cool rag against her head. What happened last night had to have been one of the most embarrassing moments of her life. It certainly didn't help that her stomach still didn't feel well to remind her about what happened last night. While she just laid on the couch, she heard someone knocking on the door.

"It's open!" Lucy called with her seeing her mother stepping in.

"Hi, Lucy." Layla said. "Listen, there's something I..." She was about to tell her something until she noticed her daughter looking a little pale and a little unwell. "Are you okay?"

"Not entirely." Lucy claimed as she made room for her mother to sit.

"What's wrong? Do you not feel well?" Layla asked.

"Something feels off with my stomach. It feels a little queasy." Lucy claimed.

"How long has it felt like that?" Layla asked.

"Since last night actually." Lucy said. "I even ended up throwing up on someone the other night." She admitted with her embarrassed and her mother feeling humiliated for Lucy.

"Did you take anything to help settle it?" Layla asked.

"No, but because it's not like that." Lucy claimed. "It doesn't really hurt or anything, but it does feel a little unsettled. I had some ginger ale, and it helped a little, but something still feels off. I don't quite get it."

"Maybe it was something you ate. What did you eat lately?" Layla asked.

"Nothing unusual or anything." Lucy claimed as she tried to figure it out. "I don't think I did anything that could have caused an upset stomach. Maybe..." It was then she realized something that might explain what it could be.

...

Natsu

As for Natsu, he was back home and kept thinking about everything that has gone on. True, he couldn't forget that Lucy actually puked all over him and certainly can't scrub away the memories. He actually tried doing that. It was also what he and Lucy were doing. As much as he's enjoyed it, he knows it can't last and yet he wants it to. He knows that as soon as their parents are married, their relationship is going to shift around. He knows it would be messed up to continue, but what was he going to do? It's got him thinking why he's doing this in the first place.

"Are you just going to keep taking up my couch?" Igneel questioned as he came over.

"Hey, Dad." Natsu said as he sat up with Igneel sitting with him.

"You okay?" Igneel asked.

"Sort of. One problem is that an incident happened last night and I can't forget. Taking a shower for almost an hour didn't help." Natsu said as he felt gross. "I'm fine, Dad. I just got a lot on my mind, but I don't really want to talk about it." Igneel was a little worried to ask what happened the other night, but he brushed it aside.

"Natsu, there's something I need to talk about. It's about me and Layla." Igneel said.

"Oh yeah? You two decided on a date or anything yet?" Natsu questioned.

"No because there is no wedding. The engagement is off, Natsu." Igneel said with Natsu completely surprised Natsu.

"What?! What happened?! You two seemed so great together." Igneel said.

"Nothing really happened. We both just woke up." Igneel said, but Natsu didn't quite get it. "As you know, Layla and I got together when you and Lucy left for college. We didn't expect things to go the way they did, but they did and we enjoyed it. I may have asked her to marry me, but what we didn't see was that it wasn't what we thought. Layla and I both just realized that we mistook passion for real love. While we do like each other, it's just not enough to make a marriage work. Layla and I did like each other, and we had some great times together. In fact, we would have dated each other for real, but marriage is another matter. We realized that we weren't quite right for something like that as we were. Keeping it a secret probably added fuel to the fire."

"And you've been going at it like that for four years? Dad, as a fellow man, I have have some new-found respect for you." Natsu said with the two of them having a laugh. "So, what happened? What's the problem again?"

"We tried planning for a wedding, but we were getting nowhere. We believe that the reason we couldn't agree or decide on anything for a wedding was because somewhere inside we weren't sure if we really did want to marry each other." Igneel said. "Don't get me wrong. Layla is a great woman. We had a lot of fun together. Maybe if things were a little different between us... While we do like each other, we don't like each other enough to be married. It's just... It wasn't the real thing. We just got way too ahead of ourselves, caught up in the moment, and thought it was best to just end it. In fact, I don't think either of us said that we actually loved each other. It just wasn't the real thing. It wasn't like what you and Lucy had." Natsu was amazed to be hearing this. His father and Layla seemed so happy together and were thinking of marrying each other, but now it seems like they're ending it. It probably wasn't easy for them to do. It has Natsu thinking if he should do the same with Lucy, end what they're doing since it's just out of passion and nothing more, but his father comparing the two relationships has Natsu wondering some things.

"How do you know what Lucy and I had was the real thing?" Natsu questioned.

"Because I've seen it with you two." Igneel said. "You always seemed happy together, had great times together. It was different than how it was with me and Layla. I do mean before you two were getting intimate with each other before high school graduation." That last part he said like a lecturing parent with Natsu feeling busted. "I seem to remember you trying to get lucky after we had "the talk" on their prom night."

"How do you know about that?" Natsu questioned.

"You didn't do a good job as you think in cleaning your car." Igneel claimed. "That aside, you and Lucy did have the real thing. I saw it myself. It was the same way I was towards your mother, a woman I actually did loved AND married. You and Lucy had the real thing. You really did love her. It's too bad it came to an end."

"Love...?" Natsu wondered as he began to think of something. Everything that's been going on with them, from how they held such disdain to each other to what they've been doing until now, is all from one reason. It's why he went along with it. "Of course! That's it! I love her!" He said as he realized the truth. "That's why she and I acted like we couldn't stand each other before! That's why we did what we did! It's all simply because I loved her, and I still do!" He claimed as realizing the truth has made him feel such joy. "Dad, I'm sorry about you and Layla, but I need to go! I've got to talk to Lucy!"

"Uh... Sure." Igneel said as he let him go, not sure what to think of this. "Wait. You did what you did? What did you two do?!" Natsu just ignored him and ran straight to his car. He just had to see Lucy right away because now he sees there's nothing standing in the way. He reached for his phone and gave her a call with her answering.

"Lucy! I need to talk to you! It can't wait!" Natsu claimed. "Oh! You're already on your way to talk to me. I'll meet you halfway!" Natsu was too excited with this revelation that he can't just wait around.

...

Lucy

Lucy found a spot to wait for Natsu to show up. Since she was already on her way to talk to him, they found a spot to meet halfway. She soon spotted him pulling up and was a little anxious. As soon as he came out of the car, he ran straight to her with excitement. He was so excited that he lifted her off the ground and spun her around to her surprise.

"What's this about?" Lucy questioned.

"I see the truth now!" Natsu said as he put her down.

"What truth?" Lucy questioned.

"About me! About us!" Natsu said. "I see the reason for all of it. I still love you, Lucy!" He admitted with her shocked. "It's why we did what we did! It's because we acted like we couldn't stand each other after we broke up all those years ago. It's why we kept sneaking around and seeing each other. Hell, it's even why we kept sleeping together despite our parents about to marry each other! I love you, and I think you feel the same!" Lucy was astonished by all of this. She really didn't know what to think. "Lucy, my dad told me the engagement is off! There's nothing stopping us from being opened and together again! We have a second chance, a chance most people don't get it! I want to take it!"

"I feel the same! I love you!" Lucy claimed as she kissed him with the same love and passion she's always had for him. This revelation has set things straight. They just love each other, actually love for each other and not just passion. Everything they did just simply comes down to that. "Wait. Your dad told you the engagement is off."

"Yeah. Oh... Did you not know?" Natsu questioned as he felt like a big spoiler.

"No. My mom just told me herself." Lucy said. "In fact, it's actually a good thing that it was called off."

"Yeah! Now, we don't have to hide! There's really nothing in our way from being together like we were before!" Natsu said as he was so excited to be with her again, but that wasn't it. He could tell just by looking at the nervous smile on her face there was something else. Something that probably would have made things more complicated if their parents stayed together. "What is it?"

"There's something I need to tell you." Lucy said as she was getting to the reason why she was coming to him.
