A few days had passed since May had talked to Fury and she had thought a lot about what she was going to do.

"Agent May"

"No"

"So you've been briefed?"

"I'm not going back in the field Phil."

"Yeah, you've got such a nice set-up here. You ever thought about adding a moat? I just need you to drive the bus. Liaise ground transpo, some on-site supervision. This isn't a combat op."

"Then you don't need me."

"I do. 'Cause we'll be running ourselves. Picking the ops, making the calls. No red tape. This is where they actually make the red tape, isn't it? I always wondered. Melinda."

"You're really just asking me to drive the bus?"

"I'm not asking. It's a really nice bus. Plus we can have Ev with us. We can work with her and keep her safe. I know that is all you want. You can make the calls on what she does. Think about it, Melinda."

Phil starts to walk away.

"I help call the shots with Ev?"

"I won't let her do anything that you are not comfortable with her doing."

"For Ev then, and Phil I have missed you."

"I have missed you."

"Dinner tonight with Ev. That way she can see you without the whole team watching her."

"Alright, I think that will be for the best."

"See you then Phil"

"See you then Melinda." Phil walks out with a smile ready to see his little girl tonight.

May got out early so she could get home and talk to Ev knowing she was back home before Phil showed up that night.

Walking into the apartment she shared with her daughter she found her in the kitchen already making dinner.

"Hi Mom, you're home early."

"I know I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Let me put this in the oven and then I am all yours for 45 minutes." Ev put the casserole in the oven and set the timer before following her mom and setting at the table.

"Is everything alright? You are worrying me."

"Fury asked me to go back in the field."

"Why would he do that?"

"He wants me to drive the bus for a new team. A team that wants you on the team as well."

"So we would be going in together?"

"Yes"

"With anyone else we know?"

"Yes"

"Who?"

"Your dad." Ev took a deep breath.

"Mom, Dad died, I was there when he died. He can't be on a team."

"He's alive, I saw him today."

"How is that possible?"

"Fury brought him back."

"He used TAHITI didn't he?"

"I believe that is what he used."

"Why, Dad shut it down for a reason." At this point, Ev was pacing in front of her mom.

"I don't know, he thought he was doing what was best. He wants me to watch your dad. At first, he didn't want you to know so the Avengers didn't find out but I told him I would not keep it from you. You get to decide what you want to do but I think I am going to go on the team and look after your dad."

"You would go back to the field for him?"

"I do still love him. I would go for both of you."

"I will do it. I always wanted to work with both of you. When do we see him? When would we leave?"

"In the next few days, we will be leaving and I asked your dad to come to dinner tonight."

"I guess it is a good thing I made one of his favorites."

"Don't think you need to go because of us though I want you to go only if that is what you want to do."

"I know mom, I want to work with you both though. Plus we would be together as a family."

"The team would not initially know that we are a family."

"I know but I'm sure it will only be a few people and most people know that he is my dad."

"I'm sure we can figure out something."

"I'm going to change before Dad gets here."

"Alright. I think I will as well." With that, the mother-daughter duo headed to change for their dinner that they never thought they would have again.

Both mother and daughter were ready when there was a knock on the door. May went to open the door as Ev made herself busy getting the food on the table and trying to calm her nerves.

"Hello Phil, come in." Stepping aside she allowed him in before shutting the door.

"You look nice."

"Thank you"

"Of course, is Ev here?"

"She's in the kitchen, come with me." They walked in to see Ev had her back to them.

"Hi, baby girl." Ev turned around and when she saw her dad she started to cry and ran to her dad throwing herself into his arms.

"O Daddy I have missed you so much."

"I have missed you baby" Father and daughter held onto each other tightly as May smiled at two of the people she loved most in the world.

"I wish I could have seen you before this."

"I know I wish we could have as well." They pulled away and Phil looked at his little girl. He could see some changes in her face from the last time he saw her but she was still his little girl.

"Fury thought it would be better to wait on saying something to me."

"I know baby it's alright we are together now."

"I made your favorit before I knew you were coming by tonight."

"It smells wonderful."

"We should probably eat while it is still warm," May told them and they all sat to eat.

"So did your mom tell you about the team?"

"She did and I want in."

"Are you sure you want in? I want you to make sure that this is what you really want to do."

"It is Dad, I want to be on this team with both of you. I know that it will not always be easy, but I really do want this dad."

"Alright, we will be leaving in two days. That should give you plenty of time to get things ready to go."

"Thanks, Dad, I promise I can handle this."

"Even if you won't be able to work with the Avengers as you have been," May asked her.

"You have been working with the Avengers?"

"Here and there, nothing altogether. Mostly Nat and Clint just like always. A few times with Steve and Nat. They have been working together more as well."

"Wow, I'm away and you start working with new people."

"You're just jealous that one of those new people is Captain America."

"Maybe a little."

"So who all is on the team?"

"Well the three of us will be there. Then Fitz and Simmons who are scientists and some of the best in their fields. Then a specialist Agent Grant Ward."

"I know him. In fact, I just worked on a mission with him not that long ago."

"I thought he worked on his own."

"Usually does but we needed a male agent to go undercover with me. He was available and he's good. So they sent us in together."

"Hill didn't mention that. Just that he just got back from a mission in Paris."

"That's where he went after the mission with me."

"Hill didn't mention that you worked together."

"Because like everyone else she knows how protective you are of me. You don't like me working with many people."

"I'm your dad, being overprotective is what I do."

"Don't I know it." They finished having dinner and talked while they did so. Before too long they were sitting in the living room with Ev between her parents where she happily fell asleep.

"Are you ready to go back out?"

"I am if it helps me to keep an eye on her."

"I promise Melinda I won't let anything happen to our girl."

"I'm holding you to that. I did miss you, Phil."

"I missed you as well Melinda." Then the family slipped into silence just sitting together.

Two days later, found Phil and Ev driving to the Bus in Lola. They planned to meet May there and Ev was excited to see her parents work together.

They pulled up the ramp and got out. As a worker walked over Phil spoke up.

"Don't touch Lola."

They walked over to the others.

"Agent Ward, nice to see you again."

"You as well, I didn't know you would be on this team."

"I mean it is my dad's team so is it really that surprising?"

"I guess you are right."

"Ev I will leave you here while I show Agent Ward upstairs."

"I will be fine. I am Evangeline but everyone calls me Ev. you must be Fitz and Simmons."

"Your Agent Coulson's daughter."

"I am"

"Who is your mom?"

"Good luck with that, she told me to figure it out," Ward said as he started to follow Phil.

Phil smiles at his daughter. "I will see you upstairs in a few. I'm sure we will be taking off soon."

"See you then."

"Will you tell us now?" Simmons asked after they were gone.

"I promise if you pay attention you will figure out who my mom is. I hear you are some of the best in your fields. I can't wait to get to work with you both."

"I look forward to it as well," Simmons responded.

"I will see you both later."

"It was nice to meet you," Fitz said.

"You as well." Ev made her way upstairs and saw her dad walking up to his office and Ward walking away. She headed to the cockpit and went in.

"How do you feel about a co-pilot?"

"Are you applying?"

"If you will let me."

"I think you would be my favorite one."

"I won't tell Clint."

"He will understand that you will always be my favorite to fly with."

"So I can join?"

"Of course Co-pilot Ev." They got ready and then flew off to follow the lead.

Once there Phil and Ward went to find the rising tide member while Ev went with her mom and FitzSimmons to the explosion site.

"How do you think someone could do this?"

"Well, you are the one who has worked with the Avengers. I would guess it is like that."

"Still, this guy jumped and broke the road, not just anyone can do that. Do you think it could be a version of a super soldier?"

"I don't know, hopefully, they can help figure it out."

Walking into the building they started to look around.

Ev listened to them explain things as they looked around and tried to figure out what had happened there.

"Do you think we will be able to get any answers from anything?"
"There is a chance."

"Get what we need and let's go," May told them as she and Ev walked away from the others.

"This is not good is it?"
"I don't think it will be."

After they collected all of the evidence that they could, they headed back to the bus where Phil was talking to Skye.

"This is Skye, she will be helping us."

"Nice to meet you Skye, Im Ev."

"Not all scary guys in suits."
"No, we are not. You will find that SHIELD is a lot more than that. Where is Ward?"
"Sleeping."

"What?"

"I will explain later." He led them in and started to talk about Mike.

Ev watched Skye walk out with her mom wondering how that would go.

Ev works with FitzSimmins as they figure out what happened and then how to help Mike while Skye is taken by Mike with his son.

Ev watches her dad talk to them and tells them to find another way.

"Dad, are you alright?"

"I'm fine" he walks in and contacts May.

"May"

"He took Skye."

"You're all right?"

"We'll deal with that later. At length. Right now we need to figure out where they went."

Once they got off Ev went to her bunk and called her mom.

"Are you sure you are alright?"

"I will be fine."

"Dad's in trouble."

"Ev we need to go." She heard her dad say.

"We will see, go, be safe."

"See you soon Mom." Ev walked out and followed her dad before they made their way to the train station.

Ev walked in looking for Skye when her dad pushed Ace toward her.

"I will find her, watch him." Ev took the little boy outside away from what was going on.

Ev is able to get Ace to an officer and then heads back in running up behind her mom and listening to Mike and her dad talking.

Until Mike falls to the ground and they watch it all play out.

Once everything is taken care of Phil and Skye leave to get Ace to his aunts and Ev stays and finds her mom.

"Are you sure you are alright?"

"I'm fine Ev."

"I know you didn't want to do this part of fieldwork."

"I prefer that it was me and not you."

"I know, but I worry about you."

"That is my job alright. Plus the others don't know yet, we need to keep it that way for now."

"I know, I will do my best. I love you, Mom."

"I love you too. Now go help the others." Ev walked out and found the others talking.

She joined in as Ward started to talk about an 0-8-4.

Skye was talking to Coulson.

"We're in a position to do some good. You'd be a great help. And you'd be front row center at the strangest show on Earth. Which is after all what you wanted."

"I was able to hack SHIELD from my van, are you gonna show me something new?"

Ward calls Coulson to tell him about the 0-8-4 and then Skye and Phil are on their way back.

Once they get back Ev walks to Skye.

"So are you in?"
