8:12 - Amanda told me about this Japanese steak restaurant. She said they have pretty good food.

8:12 - I'm thinking about ordering something from there. Do you want anything?

8:15 - God, it's so hot out here. I thought it was only supposed to go up to 68.

8:17 - Alex?

8:19 - Amanda swears up and down this place has amazing food.

8:23 - You're probably busy. I'll get you something from here. Hopefully they have something you like.

8:25 - Because you're really picky lol

8:29 - Their food better be worth the wait because this line is too damn long.

8:34 - OK. I got you fried rice with sweet and sour chicken and for the side I got you some California rolls.

8:35 - 52..Jesus Christ.

8:36 - I basically got the same thing but instead I asked for steamed rice.

8:38 - And I got us some lemonades

Casey smiled as she sent her final text and slipped her phone into her pocket.

Alex was obviously preoccupied with something because she generally responds to her texts quickly. Especially Casey's.

Either way, thinking nothing of it, Casey felt herself getting all excited to get home to Alex. It was something so simple. Sitting down with your lover and eating a good meal.

Usually when they sat down and ate dinner together, Alex would go on about Liz jumping down her throat or something funny that happened at work.

Casey could listen to Alex go on forever. Alex's voice was soothing and her stories were always entertaining.

Casey happily walked through the front door of her apartment and kicked off her shoes, the smell of something burning catching her off guard.

"Alex??" Casey had called out.

"I'm in the kitchen!"

Casey rushed towards the kitchen and as she entered, she found Alex standing near the stove, frantically fanning the smoke away with a kitchen towel.

The room was filled with a haze of burnt odor, and Casey couldn't help but laugh.

"Welcome home?" Alex turns towards Casey, her face flushed with embarrassment.

"What were you trying to do??"

"I was trying to make a roast," Alex says lamely. "But I guess it didn't work out."

Alex wasn't a 5star chef and she made that clear multiple times and many cooking attempts.

But it always was amusing to Casey seeing her make an effort to cook a meal without turning it crisp.

Alex wasn't necessarily bad at whipping up a good meal(she made a fine bowl of cereal)but the only things she could cook in the oven were lasagna and Alfredo thanks to Amanda.

With only those two options, obviously she wasn't cooking back to back. But Alex could put together a lunch or dinner as long as she didn't have to put anything in the oven.

Microwaves, cold lunches, and skillets were her best friends.

Casey on the other hand learned a lot from her mother when it came to cooking and also baking, so she was in the kitchen the most.

Casey set down her things and proudly held up the containers that had their food in them. "Well there's no need to cook anything. I already got us something to eat right here." She said. "I guess you didn't get any of my messages."

"No," Alex says, dumping the remains in the trash. "I was too busy making what's no longer a roast."

Casey chuckled and Alex, who was slightly pouting, tossed a pot in the sink.

"Oh, so this is funny?" Alex asks, laughing herself. "This is beyond embarrassing."

"Don't be too hard on yourself," Casey was smiling, setting down the containers, as she gave Alex Cabot a kiss on the cheek. "Let's get everything cleaned up so we can eat."
