Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Kid Parties Fun Times Or Unpredictable?

Trent's POV

11:45 PM

Sighing heavily Gwen and I just put up the finishing touch to the backyard, it took us most of the day before to set up and thankfully it was sunny. If it had rained today then no doubt everything would have been ruined which would have been a major disappointment.

Today was going to be a fun day for many but most of all for Louis because today was his 4th Birthday party.

Where did the time go? It felt like yesterday when either Gwen or myself would get up in the middle of the night to go feed, change or if he just cried for no reason we did what was needed.

At that time Gwen and I were crammed in her room while Louis had his nursery, as hard as it was for the both of us being young and me leaving Victoria I wasn't gonna leave Gwen alone during this big life-changing experience. After all, we made our son together so it was our responsibility.

Stepping back looking at the big " Happy Birthday Louis " sign Gwen. " Looks great babe," I said smiling as she stood next to me, " Yeah but I can't believe he's four " she breathes trying not to cry " I know but he's growing up " I explain trying to comfort her " it just feels so soon," she says wiping her tear.

Lately, I've noticed Gwen was a bit emotional which was not like her "Don't cry Gwen he's still our baby boy " I said hugging her, " let's have fun today and enjoy what we did for Louis " I add as we look around.

We look around at the setup, we had a table for gifts, a variety of balloons everywhere, and all sorts of party games were planned such as musical chairs, pin the tail on the donkey, egg toss, a ball pit was rented, the table where all the kids will be seated was set with goodie bags, then, of course, the all-time fun thing to do at any birthday party break a piñata.

Then for food aside from veggie and fruit trays along with crackers and cheese. Pizza will be served then to finish it off requested by the birthday boy an ice cream cake.

All the planning and organizing came all to this.

We invited all of his classmates to the party and just about all of them and a few friends of ours will be attending. While waiting to receive confirmations from guests, Louis kept asking me every day if someone in particular was coming and I knew all too well who it was.

Since Louis's first day of preschool, I remember the few times how eager he wanted to be the first to arrive to class, both Gwen and I couldn't figure it out for a while til Halloween when he asked if he could buy himself and Serenity ice cream. Then it hit us "Our son had a crush ". Louis says they're best friends but it was a crush which us and Courtney thought was cute but Duncan was not so much.

" YAY!!! MY PARTY!! " cheers Louis from the deck.

Gwen and I turn to see Louis dressed up in his party clothes a gift from Gwen's mom. He wore a green button shirt with a vest, black jeans and new green and black sneakers.

" Hey there's the birthday boy," I said as we walk towards him " I can't wait, Mommy and Dad," says Louis walking down the steps "My party looks cool " he adds looking at around with pure excitement.

Laughing lightly I crouch down beside him " Are you ready to have fun today? " Gwen asks smiling at Louis "Yeah I can't wait to see my friends and best friend " he answers looking back at us "Everyone's gonna have a great time and celebrate your birthday " I explain ruffling his hair "Dad" he giggles trying to stop me.

Just then the doorbell rang meaning guests were here, " my friends are here " says Louis running to the door making me and Gwen laugh.

Whatever goes on today I'm sure it's gonna be memorable for all of them.

Courtney's POV

Saturday

12:00 PM

Duncan myself and Serenity were walking up to Trent and Gwen's house.

While I held Serenity's hand Duncan carried the present which he helped pick out, I swear a remote-controlled monster truck was a bit crazy then again I'm glad he came with us to shop for the gift.

" Does she really have to go? " Duncan asks rolling my eyes at his question I look at him " Duncan, yes they're best friends " I answer looking at Serenity who was very excited " Plus it's not only her invited other kids from their class are coming " I add shaking my head.

" It's still a boy's party," he says quickly looking at the gift. Since receiving the party invitation Serenity has been excited and looking forward to going, Duncan on the other hand wasn't as enthusiastic.

" Yay Louis's party," she said smiling at us she was wearing a cute little floral print party dress with white sandals and her hair up in a bun with a pink bow. She looked so cute.

I rang the doorbell but as I was about to say something " Yo ready to party " calls Tyler as him and Lindsey arrive with Mikey and Millie each of them carrying a gift.

Millie wore a light purple party dress, her hair in a ponytail with a flower pin. And Mikey wore a red dress shirt with a black tie, blue jeans and black sneakers.

" Oh yeah it's gonna be a fun day " replies Duncan just then the door opens to reveal Trent " Hello party guests " he greets us, then Louis rushed to the door "Hi guys," he says " HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! " shout Mikey, Millie and Serenity " come on my party is outside " explains Louis before him and the kids rushed inside, kinda like a stampede.

Trent moved to the side fast to let them through " Woah!! " he says as we all stand by "Thank you for having us " I said as we walked in.

" I'm glad you are all here Louis has been stoked all morning, the party is going to be in the yard and where Gwen is now " explains Trent smiling.

As soon as we got to the backyard sure enough it was all set up with tables, balloons, and games were set up and hanging in the tree was a big piñata in the shape of a big turtle. We all put the gifts on the table followed by me and Lindsey walking to Gwen at the food table while the guys talked on the deck.

" Hi Gwen " I greeted getting her attention "Hi Courtney hi Lindsey " she greets smiling at us "This party looks great the kids are gonna have so much fun," says Lindsey before hugging Gwen " thank you guys I'm so glad you made it," she says looking at us " can we help you with something? " I offer in the hope to assist "Yeah let us help you," says Lindsey.

Gwen's POV

I couldn't be more happy to hear help being offered just about all the snacks were set on the table along with the plates, cups and utensils, the only thing currently missing was the ice for the cooler so that the drinks can get cold " you know what the only thing missing is ice for the cooler " I explained looking inside the iceless cooler.

" Hey Trent we need ice for the cooler " I call to Trent getting his attention "Oh right I'll grab ice now " he answers as him, Duncan and Tyler go inside.

I sigh in relief lately I have been feeling tired and a bit emotional. With school projects and planning the party, I forget that I can't be overworking myself, especially when I just found out something two months ago. I wasn't expecting this again but also Trent and I should have been careful.

" Hey are you okay Gwen? " asks Courtney concerned " I mean I know you are pale but is it possible to look more pale? " Lindsey asks looking closely at my skin " Yeah I'm good just setting up this morning has been a lot " I answer nervously not wanting to give away anything.

" Here eat something it'll help bring your energy up," said Courtney fixing me a snack "Maybe you didn't eat enough " adds Lindsey sitting beside me while Courtney hands me a plate of fruit, veggies and crackers.

Smiling at them both I accept the plate Courtney made then ate it right away, Lindsey was right I didn't eat enough this morning.

While eating we looked over to see the kids currently playing in the ball pit, this was all worth it to see Louis and his friends have fun.

" Hello everyone" greets Alejandro as him, Miguel and Heather walked down the steps " Feliz Cumpleanos " greets Miguel smiling at the other kids.

Surprisingly Heather walked over to us while Alejandro put the gift with the others "Hello ladies " she greets us, this was interesting Heather most times wouldn't socialize with us. But lately, I've noticed she talks to us.

" Miguel don't get your clothes dirty," she says before he ran to join the others at the ball pit. Miguel wore a white shirt with black dress pants and denim sneakers "Don't you hate it when their clothes get mysterious stains " Heather laughs turning to look at us.

We all look at her with surprised expressions this was either a first or she was sick...that must be it.

20 Minutes Later

By now the rest of Louis's classmates arrived, including my mom and brother, Geoff, Bridgette, Cody, and DJ, who brought surprising us all Katie turns out they have been seeing each other for a month due to an accidental walk into one another at the store.

So we now had 12 kids and 10 adults I'd say now would be a good time to get the party started for the kids.

Walking over to Trent I smile " Let's get some games started " I said looking at Louis and the other kids either playing in the ball pit, playing tag or talking. "Let's get the first game going " he replies before walking to the side.

" Okay everyone let's get the first game started " I announced as they all came running to me...and here we go!!!

Louis POV

1:15 PM

Yeah, my birthday party is gonna be awesome. Mommy and Dad made it so cool, they even asked me what I wanted to do.

But the best part of it was inviting my class but especially Serenity, I hope were partners for the games we play.

We all go up to Mommy and she's holding a hat, " okay the first game we're playing is the egg toss " she says making us all cheer. Yes, this game was a partner game.

" Louis since it's your birthday you pick the first colour...whoever gets the same colour will be your partner " explains Mommy shaking the hat "Alright Louis go ahead ".

Pulling a colour from the hat I got yellow.

" Please please," I said quietly as the next person picked green then another picked orange, Mikey got blue, someone also picked blue. Then finally Serenity picked but she got red.

I breathed sad when she didn't get yellow as everyone else picked Millie got red too so she was partners with Serenity.

" Okay now find your partners then form a line," says Mommy but when I got mine it ended up being Miguel " Look at that we both got yellow," he says only to make me walk away from him.

Playing egg toss was easy it was mainly tossing an egg back and forth while slowly getting farther from your partner. Although me and Miguel ended up losing when I threw our egg past him hitting the fence. In the end, Mikey and his partner won a ring pop each.

After that game was done the next one was to pin the tail on the donkey, again I was first. When I got the blindfold on I heard everyone laugh but they all cheered for me as I tried. I didn't win but watching everyone try was funny especially when it was Miguel's turn he ended up putting the tail on the face.

The winner of this game was another classmate of ours winning a box of nerds candy.

Dad said to take a break for a bit since he had to call to check on the pizza order.

I got a drink from the cooler the games were a lot of fun but I was thirsty. Peaking inside the cooler I saw apple, grape and orange juice, I grabbed apple juice.

" Hey Louis your party is fun," said Mikey as he walked up to me then licked his ring pop " Yeah it's the best, " I said smiling.

Miguel walks up to us " Hola your party is indeed fun Louis " he says making me and Mikey look at him "Thank you" I said taking a sip of my juice.

" Hi Louis," said Serenity waving at me before going to her mommy who was talking to Geoff, Bridgette and another lady.

My cheeks get warm when she said " hi " to me, she's so sweet.

Miguel smiles when he's about to make trouble "What game are we playing next? " he asks grabbing a grape juice.

" Musical chairs " I answered "Sounds fun " answers Miguel taking a sip of juice..." what are you up to? " I asked staring at him "Nothing " he answers smiling.

Dad and other grown-ups set up the chairs for my favourite party game " Musical Chairs ".

I got excited because Dad let me make the playlist.

All the adults stood by smiling at us "Okay the rule is when the music stops everyone sits on a chair but if someone isn't sitting then your out " explains Mommy smiling "Good luck " said Dad before he starts the music.

Hearing the first song I smiled hearing "Not Ready to Go " by The Trews.

(AN: coincidentally it started playing on my playlist lol I love listening to music while writing, but you gotta admit it's fitting )

As we start walking around the chairs Miguel keeps smiling making me frown at him " he's up to something "Just then the music stops and luckily I got on a chair but sadly Mikey was the first out.

" Aw " he sighs going to his dad who pats his head...

We continue going with the game, after five kids were gone Serenity was the sixth. Then more were out.

It was just me, Millie and Miguel along with 2 chairs. Millie kept looking unhappy at Miguel who only stuck his tongue at her. It was funny to watch them. Some of the parents started cheering.

Before we started I had an idea "Dad can you play Kung Fu fighting please " I said getting a thumbs up from Dad.

"You're going down Miguel, " said Millie frowning "Jealously doesn't look pretty, " he says, I don't know what that means.

When the song started we walked in a faster circle a little further away but I was still having fun with everyone.

" Go Miguel, " says his mommy " You can do it Millie, " said her daddy "Woohoo come on Louis "Cheers Mommy...

Just then the song stops and we quickly get to a chair, I sat down but when I look to see who got the other chair it was Miguel while Millie glared at him.

" Kick his butt, Louis, " she says stomping to her parents.

" Alright last two standing and one more chair was gone, " said Geoff coming to take a chair away "Gentleman good luck " he adds smiling at us.

1:45 PM

" Oh boy, how will this turn out? " Gwen sighs.

She knew Louis and Miguel hadn't exactly gotten along but then again they've been civil lately but Gwen gets the feeling this is going to be VERY interesting.

Hearing some whispering from behind Her to see Geoff, Duncan, Alejandro, her brother, Cody and DJ gathered.

" What are you guys doing? " Gwen asks crossing her arms, getting their attention they all turn to look at her but when they did Gwen's brother is holding cash.

" Are you guys betting? " she asks frowning "Uh no sis " answers her brother before Gwens eyes the money in his hand "Men" she breathes before walking away...

Back To Louis's POV

It was just me and Miguel now, it was time to see which one of us won the game.

Taking a breath I try to just focus on the game and not let Miguel get to me.

" You can do it, Louis," says Serenity standing with Millie and Mikey, my cheeks get warm hearing her cheering for me and making me smile.

Just then the music starts playing along with me and Miguel walking around the last chair, this was it.

" Just us now," says Miguel behind me "Yup," I say back to him "May the best win," he says "Same to you " I answer as we start running...

Dad suddenly stopped the music and once it did I quickly got to it first and sat...

" WE HAVE A WINNER!!! " cheers Dad along with everyone cheering...

Raising my arms in the air I cheered in excitement "Well played I guess " says Miguel looking upset.

Mom gave me and Miguel a ring pop each as a prize.

This was just the start of my party and I can't wait to see what's gonna happen next!

AN: so I definitely had to split this chapter, it was longer then expected but all in all its going pretty good. Let me know what your thoughts are.
