Despite how things initially seemed, killing Salem eventually proved possible. Unfortunately the Ever Afterans who claimed to be gods were not going to let her, or the one who managed to defy their decree and kill her, that easily. Because no sooner had Ruby's silver eyes slain the witch queen, did she appear in Ruby's mind.

Most people would assume becoming the Queen of the Grimm with your predecessor living in your head to be life changing, but honestly aside from having to deal with another "mature adult" yelling at her, Ruby's life wasn't that different.

Oh, it was certainly a lot easier being a Huntress now, after all, nowadays she could tell the Grimm to stop attacking people before cutting them down, and they'd listen. After all, while the monsters would obey her that only mattered if she was right in front of them. It was smarter to take advantage of her new position as Queen of the Grimm in exterminating them than trying to control the countless monsters that continued to endlessly spawn from the Pool of the Grimm.

And sure, it could be a little annoying when she was hugging Oscar and the witch in her brain alternated between ordering her to slit her boyfriend's throat or yelling at her successor to "Get your filthy hands off my Ozma!" But Oscar could handle the wizard living in his head, so Ruby didn't worry about the old woman in her hers.

The only real issue was her silver eyes. Most of the time, they weren't a problem. She'd grown skilled with them in the years leading up to their last battle with Salem, but her skills with Crescent Rose had increased as well, so she didn't need to rely on them most of the time. Unfortunately, being Queen of the Grimm meant she technically was a Grimm even if it wasn't as apparent with her as it had been for Salem.

This meant she had to be careful when activating them, but she could pull it off as long as she kept a clear head. In battle this was easy. But well… sometimes…

Ruby yawned as she slipped into the bathroom of the apartment she shared with her boyfriend, her sister, and her sister's fiancé. Yang and Blake had been talking about getting their own place after the wedding, but that wouldn't be happening until sometime next summer.

As Ruby brushes her teeth in front of the mirror, she silently hopes that Cinder won't try to disrupt Yang and Blake's wedding like with Nora and Ren's. And unfortunately between her sleepiness and this wish her silver eyes activate. And since they're reflecting in the mirror they flash back on her. Ruby's world briefly burns silver before fading to black.

Ruby comes to on a sofa in their living room to the hissing sound of a griddle. The silver-eyed queen of the Grimm rubs her head with a groan.

"Good morning sleeping beauty," Yang teased playfully. "How're you feeling Rubes? You hit your head pretty hard."

"You activated your silver eyes, didn't you?" Blake asked, slightly concerned. "Are you okay?"

"I'm okay," Ruby said groggily. "Where's Oscar?"

"Your farm boy is making us breakfast," Yang said brightly.

"And it's ready," Oscar said bringing Ruby a plate. "Chocolate chip pancakes."

And the Queen of the Grimm greedily dug into a massive pile of pancakes.
