Edith and The Elephant Chapter 2
Within minutes, police cars with their lights flashing and helicopters surrounded the entrance of the circus. Outside, one of the cops talked into the walkie-talkie while another larger cop stood next to her, holding a donut in his hand, and the other male cop was guiding everyone around and the chief stood nearby. ''Gather 'round'' said one of the policemen. ''All units, be on the lookout for one elephant. Description: grey. Approximate weight: 8,000 pounds. Species: African. Gender: Male'' reported the policewoman. ''C'mon, lads! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Move it!'' ordered the chief. Sirens wailed and tyres screeched. Down the city sidewalk, Margo, Edith, Agnes, Lucky, Blondie, the Minions and Stompy noticed all the police activity. ''What is it with all these policemen?'' asked Edith. A helicopter flew above, pointing a searchlight at the ground.
''They're looking for Stompy!'' gasped Margo, ''Quick everyone, let's hide him in this alleyway!''. They quickly headed done the narrow passage way, Stompy just about fitted and they were able to stay out of sight before the spotlight hit them. "What are we gonna do?" asked Agnes. "If we don't do something, they're going to take Stompy back to the circus!" added Margo. Lucky bleated at something. "What is it, Lucky?" asked Agnes. They turned to see what the goat was baaing at and that's when they saw something among a pile of trash. ''Here's a black flat volleyball, and some black and white paint'' said Edith.
Margo looked at the trash pile and had a bright idea. Before long, the girls and the minions had painted Stompy white with black spots to look like a Dalmatian with black volleyball on the end of his trunk for a nose. They checked to see if the coast was clear. Then they continued their way through the dark streets back towards Gru's house. As they walked through the park, they passed a blonde haired woman who was carrying a brown-haired girl in her arms. ''Mom, why is that dog so big?'' asked the little girl. ''Whatever it was, sweetie, it could be dangerous'' replied her mom. Then Margo, Edith, Agnes, Lucky, Blondie, Stompy and the minions passed two men sitting on a park bench who happened to be park keepers, one fat and the other thin. ''Hey, what kinda dog was that?'' asked the fat park keeper.
''I'm not sure. But I'm just glad we don't have to clean up after it!'' replied the thin park keeper. Soon Margo, Edith, Agnes, Lucky, Blondie, Stompy and the minions arrived home. But they soon found out that Stompy was so huge it proved rather difficult to squeeze him through the front door! Agnes and Bob went inside first to pull Stompy by his trunk while Margo, Edith, Lucky, Blondie and the rest of the minions pushed from behind. They all strained and grunted. Then came the sounds of sirens wailing as police cars came from round the corner and along the street to Gru's house! So they desperately pushed and pulled harder than ever. Determinedly, Lucky ran to the end of the sidewalk in front of the door. Then he charged and butted hard into the back of Stompy. CRASH!
Stompy was finally in the house, just as the cars passed by. In doing so, the elephant made a large, round hole where the door should be. It was incredibly odd that a little goat was strong enough to push a gigantic elephant. Gru, Dru, Lucy and Dr Nefario heard the crash from inside the lab. "What was that?" gasped Gru. "What's going on?" cried Dru. ''It sounds like someone or something is trying to break into the house!'' said Lucy, ''Come on you two!''. As she walked out of the lab, she got ready to use her hand-to-hand combat prowess and martial arts just in case. The girls and the minions heard the adults coming and knew they had to hide Stompy quickly! ''In there!'' instructed Edith. She pointed to the huge closet where Gru kept his clothes. They opened the door and Stompy went inside before Edith closed it again.
Seconds later, Gru, Dru and Lucy came running in. ''Are you ok girls?'' asked Lucy, ''What about any of you minions?'' asked Gru. Then he noticed the massive hole at the door entrance. "AHHH!" he hollered. "OMG!" cried Lucy. "What happened to the front door?" asked Dru. As they subjected the damage, the girls heard something, Stompy was coming out of the closet and heading for the kitchen! The girls hurried after him! He was looking for something to eat. He found a sandwich and ate it. "Hey! That was mine!" cried Edith as she ran in with her sisters, "Oh, well. It's yours now, Stompy, you can have it". Then the girls gave him some salad to eat. "Don't eat it too fast" warned Margo. Just then, Gru, Dru, Lucy and Dr Nefario entered the kitchen.
"What we need to do is to find whoever did this. And you think I'm supposed to feed someone's elephant friends, you're sadly mistaken" said Gru, although he was unware of Stompy. Then he saw the elephant standing right in front of him. "ELEPHANT?!" screamed Gru. "IT IS AN ELEPHANT! IN OUR HOUSE!" yelled Dru. Lucy was so shocked by seeing a real live elephant in the kitchen, she fell to the floor and passed out. "MOM!" wailed the girls rushing over to their mom's side. Dru was so afraid he jumped onto Gru. "Go away! Get away!" he whimpered. "Dru!" scowled Gru. Meanwhile, the girls urged their mom to wake up, Lucy did so eventually. She caught sight of Stompy again and started to back away.
"AH! HE'S STILL THERE!" she shrieked, "THIS AIN'T A NIGHTMARE! IT'S REAL! IT ISN'T THE SAME ONE FROM THE CRICUS, IS IT?". Gru shook Dru off of him. ''Girls! Where did dis elephant come from? Did you get him from the circus?'' he demanded angrily. Margo, Edith and Agnes looked at each other and fidgeted nervously. "Yeah, of course we did…" Edith admitted.
