A GASH AWAY FROM HAPPINESS.

AUTHORS NOTE: This is my very first fanfic on here, so it probably won't be that good, I will try my best to update this as much as I can but there probably won't be any schedule for when I update, sorry!

|| Chapter 1 ||

Harry sat at his four-post bed his legs dangling over the side and his attention towards the window, he stared out towards the moon it had been a full moon the night before. Harry had always had something weird about the moon and stars he just loved space he remembered the first time he had learnt about Space from a book he had gotten from the library at his muggle school when he was six. He may have been young but he had known how to read when he was six, and he loved it. He wasn't constantly studying like Hermione was Harry preferred non-fiction books and well he would never in a million years let people know, but his favourite genre was romance it may seem stupid but he loved reading about people loving each other for who they are. He wished someone would love him like that because it isn't like the Dursleys would want anything to do with a freak like him.

Harry sighed, he still felt drained from the Dementor attack he had decided to just skip the feast he couldn't eat anyway he felt sick like if he ate he would end up puking it up anyways. Harry stood up from his bed and headed towards the bathroom, he locked the door behind him and slid down the wall sitting down against the door just in case.

TW!

Harry pulled the sleeve back of his yellow cardigan, he was greeted with dozens of red angry lines that littered his forearms he pulled a small blade from his pocket. Harry placed the cold blade against his olive-coloured skin and applied more and more pressure to the blade he could feel a stinging pain in his arm he relished in it for a second before he finally slid the blade across his arm. He did this again and again until he started to feel more and more dizzy, by the time he was done his whole forearm was red he quickly stood up, placing the blade on the side of the sink. He turned the handles to the faucet and placed his arm under the slow-coming water, it stung a bit but the ruby-red blood washed away leaving pink-tinted water to flow down the drain. Harry took his arm out of the sink and pulled his sleeve back down, he grabbed the blade and let the water run over it too for a second before placing it back in his pocket and turning off the sink.

END TW!

Harry lay awake in his bed he turned to see his best friend Ron sleeping in a very much unflattering position, Harry chuckled to himself and continued to stare blankly up at the ceiling with just his thoughts. He could feel his eyelids become heavier and his body relaxed into a soundless sleep.

"Oi, oi mate wake up!" Harry awoke to someone shaking him,

"Cmon! Harry, we're gon' be late for class." Ron shouted while struggling to put on his tie,

Harry got up and grabbed his glasses off his bedside table and put them on his face. Harry got up with a yawn and headed towards the bathroom he grabbed his robes which he had put out the night before, quickly Harry got dressed in his robes and cast a wordless spell to check the time "Shit!" Harry exclaimed,

He had missed breakfast and had only 15 minutes. "Great just my luck." He thought to himself glumly,

He put on his tie and looked into the mirror "God I look like shit…" Harry thought,

He never really liked how he looked it was one of his many insecurities, placed a hand over a small scar that was placed on the left side of his face courtesy of his drunk uncle, Harry had once dropped a cup while sneaking a cup of water at night and well you know the rest. He quickly pushed back this terrible memory, grabbed his pyjamas, and threw them into a laundry basket. He left the bathroom and followed Ron out of their room and into the Gryffindor Common Room.

Hermione was buzzing around about something to do with being late for our classes and Ron was still struggling with his tie. After what seemed to be ages the three of them headed out "What class have you got mate?" Harry was yanked out of his thoughts by the redhead's question,

"Huh?" Harry said,

"Mate, are you good? You've been spaced out since the dem- the train." Ron asked obviously trying not to bring up what happened the night before knowing Harry had quite explosive behaviour,

"I'm fine Ron!" Harry snapped putting his hands up defensively,

"All right mate! I'm sorry just tryna' make sure you're all good." Ron responded sincerely,

Harry immediately felt bad for snapping at Ron for no good reason again. "No Ron I'm sorry I just didn't get enough sleep last night."

Ron smiled back at Harry showing that he understood but before he could say anything Hermoine butted in "Harry maybe you should try getting more sleep, so you won't have so many excuses." Hermione said snarkily with the last bit coming out a bit quieter than the rest but Harry still heard it,

This pissed Harry off, and before he could reply Ron snapped at Hermione,

"Come on Mione' give Harry a break I wouldn't be able to sleep if a dementor tried to suck my soul out of my body!"

Hermione didn't like this and the two ended up getting into a massive argument the rest of the way to the DADA classroom leaving Harry to be in his thoughts.

They had finally made it up the ridiculous amount of stairs, Ron and Hermione's argument had subsided into just them shooting each over dirty looks every now and then.

Remus (with a lot of struggling) had finally gotten the bogart trapped within an old wooden closet and had dragged it in the front of the classroom, he had also used a spell to float all the desks and chairs against the walls just in time for the students to start flowing into the classroom.

He looked at each one seeing multiple groups of Slytherin girls and another group of Gryffindor boys, till seeing a red-headed Gryffindor boy and brown-haired girl giving each other menacingly like they were about to get into a wrestling match right then and there. And a scrawny, short, tired-looking, raven-haired boy walked through the door behind the boy and girl. He looked down to the ground but Remus could still see who it was. Harry, sombre memories flooded Remus of his teen years but he pushed them down and began to speak to the class once the rest of the third years flooded in.

(And that's the end of Chapter One! I'm sorry if the start is worse than the rest I started this fic in Dec 2022 and I picked it back up in May 2023 [I'm fucking lazy if you couldn't tell] I also apologise if this is a bit graphic for Chapter one, but I love my angst lmao. Bye, everyone!)
