The former Prince Atem of Xanadu was painting a picture of his mother, the former Queen Samira. Yami, as he'd called himself for the last sixteen years, loved his mother so much. He didn't even consider his sire his father because he'd done nothing but abuse him. He'd never been a real father and hadn't loved him. So he considered his mother's human husband his father.

Either way, at the moment, the thirty-four-year-old sat at an easel painting his Mother's Day gift. Neither Yami nor his husband Yugi even looked close to their actual age. On the contrary, they still looked like teenagers. Indeed, some individuals never look their actual age, which causes multiple people to be jealous that they can remain so youthful looking. However, in Yami's case, it was because he used to be a Divine Being.

So when he gave up his immortality, as did most of his people, they became mortal. However, any Divine Being who willingly chose to surrender their immortality retained a small bit of their divinity. This magic gave them longevity, youthfulness, immunity to human illness, and a tenth of their original magic. But for Yami, that wasn't here or there at the moment. What mattered to him was finishing his beloved mother's gift.

He was so intent on his work he didn't hear his husband come in. "Yami? Is everything alright?" Yugi asked his beloved husband.

Yami jumped up in fright. Once he got his breathing under control, he looked at his aibou. "Yugi, you startled me!"

"I'm sorry, aibou. I didn't mean to. I just came in to inform you that the children and I are shopping. We want to get the items we need for the twins to celebrate Mother's Day with your sister, Aziza."

Since Yami and his sister Aziza weren't blood-related, neither had felt it was inappropriate when she'd agreed to be the mother of their children. "That sounds wonderful. I hope this special dinner you've planned will make my sister's heart swell up with love."

"You know your mother is invited as well. However, I know you want to spend some alone time with her first. Just make sure you're both back in time for dinner. Dinner will be at six sharp."

"Thank you for telling me, aibou. Now, I've got to finish my mother's gift."

"Okay, good luck. Also, from what you've already done? You definitely inherited your mother's talent in artwork!"

Yami's mother was a professional painter. Her stunning paintings had sold for heaps of money. She had taught him to paint to deal with his PTSD, which is why it was the perfect gift for his mother. The lovers kissed once before Yugi left.

Yami returned to his painting. That painting was of his mother in her Divine form. The background was of Harmony Bridge. Harmony Bridge was a stretch of rainbow light that humans called the Northern Lights. It had been halfway between Earth and Xanadu, yet neither had any claim to it. He finished his masterpiece by that evening. He ensured the twins, Jay and Z.Z., would leave it alone so it wouldn't be ruined. A few days later, Mother's Day arrived.

Yami couldn't resist flying to see his mother. Yes, his wings could occasionally return, allowing him to fly. His mother smiled when he arrived. "Oh, Yami! I'm so delighted you've come to visit me!" Samira exclaimed as she hugged her beloved child tightly.

"I wouldn't miss you on this sacred holiday to honor mothers. Everything you've ever done for Aziza and me testify to what an extraordinary mother you are!" her son replied.

"Speaking of Aziza, are you ensuring she's also having a wonderful Mother's Day?"

"We've planned a nice dinner for her this evening. We hope you'll attend as well. I want some alone time with just the two of us for now."

"I shall grant that desire. Are you up for a game?" knowing her son loved games.

"You know I am!" as they went inside his mother's home. They spent the day playing games, catching up on the latest events. She cried when she unwrapped her son's gift. When they returned to Yami's home, his beautiful blind sister was beyond thrilled with what her family had done to ensure she had a wonderful Mother's Day. All in all, it was a truly magical day for everyone.
