Chapter 7: Reyo and Reko

Naruto was sitting in his room a week after he returned from his C-rank mission. Naruto just continued looking when he heard a creak and without thinking he got a kunai from in front of him and threw it. Naruto's eyes widened seeing the kunai cut Hinata's cheek and hit the wall so he said " Sorry." Naruto then sat back down and just continued looking out the window as he felt Hinata sit next to him. Naruto felt Hinata take his hand but he didn't move to hear " Naruto are you ok?" Naruto didn't react or speak to hear " You know that today is your last day off and you need to accept what you did or you'll be taken off duty Naruto." Naruto gave a slow nod then he looked at Hinata and said in a plain voice " How do I get over it?" Naruto looked down as he felt Hinata squeeze his hand then heard " Tell me what happened?" Naruto sighed and said looking forward, " I know you read the report." Naruto didn't hear anything for a few seconds but assumed that she nodded then heard " But I want to hear it from you." Naruto sighed and looked at Hinata and said " you are not going to leave unless I tell you, are you?" Naruto saw Hinata nod so he nodded himself then he looked down next to him at a recurve bow so he opened his mouth and started to speak.

* Flash Back *

Naruto was standing out in Koen village's fields in the middle of the day watching over them go to Kurenai taking some of them to scan the nearby forest. Naruto had a smile on his face as he thought of his new girlfriend that he got two days ago, Hinata Hyuga. Naruto couldn't help but smile but he was taken out of his thoughts when he felt someone run into him. Naruto looks down at a seven year old boy with black hair and brown eyes. Naruto saw the boy look up so he smiled, also noticing a rope around the boy's chest holding a couple of rabbits. Naruto saw the boy get nervous then turn and run so he followed with his eyes to find the boy hiding behind what looks like a sixteen year old version of the boy with a quiver across his back and a recurve bow in hand. Naruto saw the boy walk up and heard " Sorry for that, my younger brother Reyo is really shy." Naruto just smiled and nodded and then said " You are?" Naruto saw the boy smile and heard Reko." Naruto chuckled but nodded, then he gestured to the animals that the younger boy had and said " You are a hunter?" Naruto saw the boy nod then heard " Yea, I'm teaching my younger brother and we are working on tracking." Naruto nodded with a smile then said " By what it looks like he's good." Naruto saw the older boy nod then heard " Yep." Naruto just gave a smile then he said " So will I be seeing you around Reko?" Naruto saw Reko nod so he looked at Reko's younger brother and said " I hope to see you around as well." Naruto saw Reko nod then walk off so he smiled and then went back to look over the field.

* Later That Night *

Naruto was walking through Koen Village heading out to the fields to watch over them with Hinata. Naruto had his hands in his pockets as he walked, seeing the gate in the distance when he heard " Hey." Naruto stopped and turned to see Reko so he said " Reko." Naruto saw the sixteen year old boy walk up then heard " I never caught your name." Naruto nodded and said " I'm Naruto, Naruto Uzumaki." Naruto saw Reko nod so he smiled when he looked at Reko's quiver which made him think." Naruto looked at Reko and said " Hey, hunting includes stealth, right?" Naruto saw Reko nod so he said " I have been training in stealth but it's not going well so could you help me tomorrow." Naruto saw Reko nod so he smiled and turned and left heading to the gate.

* Present Time *

Naruto slammed his fist onto his legs and tears down his cheeks when he heard " Do you need…" Naruto interrupted Hinata by hugging her and said " Hinata, I…" Naruto couldn't finish his sentence and he just held onto him.

Hiruzen sighed heavily as he thought ' I hope Naruto can get over this. I don't want to suspend him.' Hiruzen just sighed again leaning back when he saw his door open and to a slight surprise he saw Kakashi. Hiruzen saw Kakashi walk up so he leaned forward and said " If you're here for Naruto I'm not telling you anything." Hiruzen saw Kakashi nod then heard " I know but I think you need to know." Hiruzen nodded to hear " I know Naruto is the way he is because of what happened in Koen Village but I don't think it was everything." Hiruzen nodded to hear " During the mission I got talking to Naruto and he lost it in front of me." Hiruzen was shocked but wanted to know what so he saw Kakashi raise his hand one holding something that he didn't see earlier. Hiruzen saw Kakashi set down his old Anbu mask and heard " He knows and has known since I became his sensei."

Hiruzen nodded while taking the mask then heard " Sakura treats him like shit and so does Sasuke which isn't the problem but he's been keeping in his anger and rage that what happened at the mission he started believing his own fear that he's a demon." Hiruzen nodded, then he saw Kakashi turn, then heard " Answer me this, Did he really kick Iruka out of his apartment?" Hiruzen nodded with another sigh to hear " He better get over it for my sake."

* One Hour Later *

Naruto let out a heavy sigh as he pulled back from Hinata wiping his tears then said " Sorry, I shouldn't give you my problems." Naruto felt Hinata put a hand on his cheek which he closed his eyes and pushed into to hear " You were always there for me so I'll be there for you." Naruto just nodded looking forward when he felt Hinata wrap an arm around his back and lean against his arm so he lifted his arm bringing her closer and said " We trained for two days then everything happened?"

* Flash Back *

Naruto was walking through the field looking around when he saw one of his clones land in front of him. Naruto looked at the clone to hear " Some food is missing from the storage crates." Naruto nodded, then said " Tell Hinata and tell her to stay here, I'll go check it out." Naruto saw his clone nod so he ran off heading to the storage area of the village. After five minutes Naruto landed in front of a big building with the door open so he walked to it. Naruto drew a kunai as he entered the building. Naruto looked around to see a couple of crates missing so he looked around when he saw a potato on the ground. Naruto saw more potatoes leading in a trail so he followed. Naruto only followed it to the back of the building so he kicked the wall out of anger to see a piece of wood move. Naruto smirked and he ran out and around the building to find small footprints so he followed. Naruto followed the footprints to a ladder that the thief used to get over the wall, then he followed the footprints through the forest as he used a torch for light.

* Thirty Minutes Later *

Naruto stopped at an entrance of a cave torch still in hand. Naruto stood there thinking when he heard laughter so he drew a kunai and slowly entered. Naruto only got to a few feet to then drop his torch, a light from a nearby fire illuminating around him. Naruto looked to see Reyo but also behind him a huge bat with a weird leather saddle on it. ( To help with size, think of the bats you can tame in Ark's news map, also I totally am copying the abilities.) Naruto instantly drew his sword holding it. Naruto saw Reko step in front of the bat and heard him yell " No, don't hurt him." Naruto looked at Reyo and then heard a raspy voice say " I won't hurt the kid." Naruto looked at the bat then back at Reyo seeing him concerned for the bat so he nodded putting the blade in his holster but drew a kunai and said holding it up " You make any move I don't like this will go in your heart." Naruto then looked at Reyo and said " Are you the one that had been stealing food?" Naruto saw Reyo nod looking down so he said " Why?" Naruto saw Reyo look up at the bat so he looked at the bat to hear " I'm part of a summoning contract and the previous summoner died in battle but before he did he summoned me. The contract was damaged and I had no idea what to do. I was starving when You found me. He took me to this cave and gave me food to help. If I have my summoning contract repaired I can return home." Naruto nodded then said " I know a thing or two about seals. Can I take a look." Naruto saw the bat nod so he gave a small smile but before anything else could be said he heard " What the hell."

* Present Time *

Naruto was breathing heavily, a few tears down his cheek and his hands were on his laps in fist. Naruto was looking down when he felt Hinata grab one of his fists then heard " It's ok?" Naruto just continued looking down but he let his hands return to normal and the one Hinata's holding to hold her's. Naruto then looked up at his girlfriend and just said " I…" Naruto just stared at her and after a couple of minutes he looked down untangling his hand from hers and said " It all went to hell after that."

* Flash Back *

Naruto turned around facing the entrance to the cave to see Reko standing there aiming at the bat. Naruto saw Reko scared and his arm shaking so he said " Hey, Reko trust me the bat won't hurt Reyo or us just let him leave." Naruto saw Reko look at him with sweat down his face then heard " No, this monster needs to die so they can't hurt anyone." Naruto saw Reko pull back some more then release so he turned and tackled Reyo to the ground. Naruto heard a loud screech so he looked at the bat pushing himself up. Naruto looked at Reko seeing him draw another arrow and aim at the bat then release. Naruto threw a kunai hitting the arrow making it break in two and the half with the arrow head head towards him.

Naruto rolled to the side not thinking and before he could react he saw the arrow head go into Reyo's throat. Naruto's eyes widened and he just stared and looked at Reyo holding his neck as he choked on his blood and he just froze, he froze. Naruto just stared in shock as he saw Reko run and grab Reyo and heard him say " No, no, no, no." Naruto saw Reyo's chest rise and fall for the last time. Naruto just stared, tears down his cheeks as he saw Reko look up and heard " You, you killed him." Naruto looked at Reko not saying anything and after seeing him move for the kunai he throwed Naruto dived at him pinning him to the ground then he placed one of those sleeping tags on him. Naruto let out a heavy breath.

* Present Time *

Naruto let out a heavy breath as he looked up at the sky seeing the sun setting when he heard " Are you ok?" Naruto shook his head as he turned towards Hinata and said " You know the rest. I was able to fix the seal and the bat returned to its world and the next day before we left Reko killed himself in front of all of us as he had lost everyone to his parents already dying years ago." Naruto looked down again as a few tears fell down his cheek then he mumbled " I'm a monster." Naruto felt Hinata hug him and heard " No, you're not. You defended yourself and it was just an accident." Naruto just tried to push himself back then said " I know, I know and I know it's ok to blame myself." Naruto then looked up and said " How do I live on knowing what I did?" Naruto saw Hinata give a smile then heard " I don't know, why don't we find out?" Naruto just looked at Hinata then he hugged her tightly and said " I don't want to forget them." Naruto felt Hinata hug then heard " you took Reko's bow so use it." Naruto pulled back a little and he just gave a sad smile then he hugged her again.

After a few minutes Naruto felt Hinata pull back so he did to hear " Now you've spent a week thinking of what happened during that mission that was bad so tell me what were some good things." Naruto nodded as he whipped away his tears and said " I was able to create the Sealing Barrier Tag but it can only go to a size which I'm trying around it. I also mastered the Hidden Mist Jutsu and I've gotten better with the Executioner Blade." Naruto saw Hinata just give him a fake frown so he gave a small chuckle then said " Of course you as well." Naruto saw Hinata smile so he gave a small smile then said " Thank you, I might be still down and I try to move past it." Naruto saw Hinata nod then heard " It's ok to be sad and cry about it but moving past it and forgetting about it are two different things." Naruto nodded with a small smile then he said " Actually I forgot one thing." Naruot gave a bigger smile and said " One more good thing was this." Naruot then leaned in and kissed his girlfriend. After a couple of seconds he pulled back and then heard " Yea." Naruto chuckled, then he looked back at the bow and said " I'm going to need a new outfit change once I learn enough to use it."
