Storm clouds were hovering outside this afternoon, and the warm wind just created the propitious ambience for inspiration to awake. Ideas just came one after another and found myself in need of writing them down.

I wanted to share this sense of serenity with you.

Enjoy.

Rainy Days

Arcee knew weather was changing, proof of that were the thick dark clouds at the far horizon over the bast desert of Nevada. She had heard June mentioning something about a seasonal storm approaching them, and she was right. The storm was almost over them.

The azure femme had decided to take advantage of the still dryness of the ambience to go out for a ride and make the most out of her time outdoors before she locked herself in the petite stance the Darbys' garage was. That was her idea of spending the afternoon, watching how water drops slid down the small windows and the rain dancing over the deserted residential street of her protégée.

She could too return to base and remain with her teammates, or even see the rain through the concealed window of her quarters, but for some reason she couldn't name, she preferred just enjoying that placid serenity from the minute garage. Perhaps it was because it was the only way she could actually see the rain meeting the ground, or maybe it was other. She didn't know.

After having spent half of the day with Jack around the town, they had both finally headed home. June arrived shortly after, her casual outfit giving away she had been hanging out with some friends of hers. They had then settled for lunch, but since the cybertronian was at home too, the family of two had decided to share the moment with her. It was thus, as they usually did every time she stayed, they had settle the table at the garage.

Few laying around boxes served as improvised tables, whereas the old red sofa on the corner of the stance provided them a springy seat. The light-spirited event had the three of them laughing over different topics that had surged over the course of the conversation, making out of that moment a unique memory for years to come. Despite how restricting the garages was for the femme, it was precisely those little gestures towards her what made her forget about the space discomfort.

It was well in the afternoon when the humans sensed they had enjoyed her company long enough and granted her some time on her own. They had greeted her and had made it into the house. Alone as she was, the femme had diverted her gaze to look at the grayish outside. It wouldn't be long until rain fell over the town, but there was still a fair chance she could relish a little drive before looking for refuge back inside the garage.

Arcee let the Darbys know she would be leaving via text message and then transformed, activating Sadie. The gate folded up to allow her to exit the house and, even before it was fully lifted, she speeded away into the street.

The azure motorcycle picked that familiar route she used to do almost every day and drove across it, letting the dusty highway lead her to her destiny. The road itself was quite deserted and, with no other vehicles on sight, she allowed herself some fun, leaving the Autobot protocol aside for the time being. Her clutch selected the highest gear and, actioning the throttle, she reached her top speed in few clicks.

Her aerodynamic form surged across the emptiness of the surrounding landscape, no other being within miles from her. The feeling of the warm wind against her frame unreeled the sense of freedom she had only felt in rare occasions before. It was in moments like those in which she came to understand her partner in all his entirety, and she couldn't deny the thing was inebriating.

It wasn't long until her spot came into view.

The azure motorcycle reduced, coming closer to the shoulder. When thin sand replaced the wore away asphalt, her tires gave way to her pedes. The subtle trail through the light grass field guided her to the secluded place she so much appreciated and most joy provided her in that peculiar small organic planet.

Her steps brought her almost to the cliff edge, where she stood looking at the land beyond for a long moment. Her frame gradually relaxed, her helm slowly tilted backwards and her optics unhurriedly closed. She vented deep and while doing so, her platings expanded to let the warm wind sneak under her armor, carrying those unique fragrances in the air that announced the incoming storm.

She loved it.

With her winglets extended out just like her arms were, and with a pure shadeless expression on her face, the femme felt herself free, like never before. There was no other sensation that could ever get closer to what she was experiencing then, although there was only one thing that could make it even better. Sharing it with someone else.

As if her thought had been heard, the silent pedesteps at her back announced her the presence of her partner, who calmly approached her. She did not open her optics, neither did she greet him. She just stood where she was, stretching the moment as far as she could. He was fine with it though.

At watching her, the mech's curiosity sparked and felt the need of figuring out what she was feeling. He adopted a similar relaxed posture, allowing his senses to capture the small details around him. He finally closed his optics, enjoying the fact he was just standing there with his partner.

By the time Arcee opened her optics, she felt like time had stopped for them both, and to be honest, she wouldn't have minded it that had actually happened. She couldn't have asked for anything better than that.

Her cerulean gaze came to greet the crimson mech by her side, who after few clicks with his optics shut in blissfulness, he returned, accompanied by a serene smile of his own. She chuckled and brought her gaze to the horizon. So did he. No words where needed between them.

A water droplet met her plating. Another one followed it. A third one softly landed on the impeccable finish of her partner and a fourth effortlessly fell before their amazed optics coming to delicately rest on a grass leave.

The mech stared up expectant; the femme smiled for herself, content. She reached for her partner's servo and turned around, silently bringing him to follow her. He dwelled in the spot where he was standing for an instant, before the gentle motion had him walking after her. He let her guide him. By then, the trust in her was such he would blindly follow her wherever she pleased.

The azure femme nimbly walked between tree trunks, retracing the way she had so many times done before with her previous partner. It would be something new for the mech that accompanied her that afternoon though, and during all the stroll, her servo remained connected to his, refusing to let it go.

The stream that provided life to that petite oasis soon came into view, and her unhurried steps did not slow down as they approached to it. They traced it riptide for few breems and then she came to a stop by a shallow area.

Arcee gave him a reassuring gaze and the mech immediately guessed they were about to cross it. Doubts made his crimson optics fill with uncertainty, the same uncertainty that made his helm tilt and his audio receptors lower. Yet, a nod from her and her servo tightening around his were enough for him to understand he had nothing to worry about.

She let go of him and went into the stream first, bringing one of her pedes right into the water. The stream was so shallow it barely came to wet her sole and no more than three steps where needed for her to cross it. When she reached the other side, she turned in his direction and tended a servo to him, inviting him to come to her.

The mech did had an instant of hesitation, as he wasn't too fond of getting his frame dirty. Yet, if his partner had done it, there was nothing he should fear about. He didn't remain put for long and he too took the forwards step.

Knockout crossed the stream in no time, though he made sure he did it only in two strides, not even giving one more. Once at the other side, he turned his gaze back and triumphantly smirked. That, alongside his puffed chest, gave way how proud he felt of his small deed, and that made the femme grin. How typical of him!

Meeting her affable cerulean optics again, it was him this time who reached for her servo, which she kindly held close. She carefully pulled from him, getting them both back on the move.

Some thick drops began falling from the sky right when the place they had been looking for came into view. Sculpted out of a rocky wall, a natural grotto offered them shelter from the storm that would anytime soon fall over them. It wasn't too deep, but it had enough space for them both to comfortably fit in.

The Autobot bent forwards not to hit the ceiling as she made it into the small cave. The Decepticon followed after her, crouching down to avoid scratching his finish. She sat down on the ground and he accommodated at the free space by her side.

The dispersed random drops began gaining intensity and, not long after, heavy rain showered over the place. Both cybertronians stared in utter silence at the downpour outside, but none of them were really seeing the storm. There was more to it worth of admiration.

The unique smell emitted by the wet earth, alongside the pleasant sound of the vegetation swaying to the rhythm of the much awaited rain, created a symphony that captivated the giants. They could only stare at it and allow the moment to embrace them. It was a gift for their senses.

Knockout rested his back on the rocky wall of the grotto behind him. It wasn't long until Arcee too laid back, making herself comfortable against the mech's frame. He did not complain about it. She was one of the few, if not the only, who he allowed to do so. In response, he surrounded her with his arms and held her closer to himself, watching the rain dance before them.

They exchanged no words for almost a jour, enrapture by the natural phenomena that delighted them with every move, every sound and every smell. It was a scene they doubted they would see in a long while. What made it so special thought, was the fact they could share it together.

"I think I'm gonna begin to like rainy cycles on this planet."

His quiet mutter had been the first spoken interaction they had had since they had met that afternoon. His optics never parted from the display outside the grotto as he rested his cheek against her helm.

Just that small gesture made the femme's lips form a joyful smile; hearing those words had her spark feeling a warmth she hadn't feel in ages. She tenderly squeezed his forearm against her chest and carefully accommodated her helm on his arm, whispering back to him.

"I truly hope you do, partner."

- A/N -

By the time I finished writing this story, it actually heavily rained. That got me staring out of the window for a while, lost in pure blissfulness. I couldn't help to imagine the way our favorite couple felt in that same situation, just watching at raindrops fall in an endless silky water curtain.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it.
