"Rey, I'm sending you on a mission to the Nabooian lake country," General Leia Organa states with authority.
She holds out a datapad with coordinates to the location to Rey. The young woman takes the datapad in hand and studies it as Leia goes over the important details.
"You are to collect a series of diaries belonging to a former Queen of Naboo. They will be at the lakehouse provided in the location," the General continues.
"Are they to help in our fight against the First Order? Has this Queen had experience with evil galaxy-dominating regimes?" Rey asks curiously.
Leia chuckles and shakes her head. She walks over to sit next to Rey and pats the young woman on her knee. Rey looks on, puzzled by the General's reaction.
"Although this Queen has had experience in battle, this is not what she wrote down in these diaries," she replies.
"How are these to help the Resistance then if they have nothing to speak of defeating groups like the First Order?" Rey questions.
"They are a…well, let's just say they are an important family treasure," the General states.
Rey opens her mouth to ask more questions but decides against it. She may not have known Leia for long but she does know to trust her judgment.
"I will go with Chewie and BB-8 and bring back the diaries with haste," the young woman says.
"No, this won't be necessary. Please go alone. No one else in the galaxy knows this location and I would like to keep it that way," Leia replies.
Rey nods and turns to go with the datapad still in hand. Before she leaves, Rey turns back to look at Leia with a question forming on her inquisitive lips. But before she can ask it, Leia raises a quiet hand.
"There has not been any new word of the Supreme Leader. He is away from the fleet and this is all we know right now," she says.
Leia reaches her hand out and grasps Rey's in her own. Rey looks at Leia as she feels a comforting squeeze on her hand from the General.
"I know the whole galaxy is looking for you. I know he is looking for you. This is a secure location with no resistance. You will be safe, Rey," she assures softly.
Rey takes a deep breath and nods again with a faint smile. Leia returns the smile and watches as the young woman walks towards an X-Wing and gears it up for take off.
The journey through hyperspace is not as long as Rey had thought it would be. When her X-Wing drops out of lightspeed, her eyes widen at the beautiful jewel that is Naboo. Following the tracker, she breaks through the atmosphere and flies over a beautiful city. It glistens in the sunlight and Rey marvels at the royal splendor.
She continues her journey following the river. The tracker begins beeping as Rey reaches her destination at last. A gorgeous lake house villa comes into view and Rey is left speechless from its wondrous style. Rey lands the X-Wing just below the stairs leading up into the house. She walks up the steps with excitement until she feels a familiar presence.
Her steps cease and she pauses on the stairs. No…surely she is just imagining things. There's no way anyone else, especially him, would know about this place. From what she had seen in his mind, there were no joyful family vacations to this place. Swallowing nervously, Rey continues her walk cautiously up the stairs. When she reaches the door, she carefully pushes it open and moves softly inside. As the door closes shut behind Rey, her eyes lock onto a dark shape standing at the window overlooking a balcony.
"You! How…how are you here?" she whispers.
The shape turns to face Rey and her heart begins palpitating quickly beneath her breast. Her hand is poised over her lightsaber as she stands her ground before him.
"I should ask you the same," Kylo Ren answers.
