Chapter 4 2016: Stark Tower

Meg's point of view

Wong, Morgan and I arrived in 2016 New York. Wong took us to the main reception desk at Stark Tower.

"Good morning, welcome to Stark Industries. I am the head receptionist, my name is Bambi Aborgast."

"Good morning, would it be possible to speak with Virginia Stark, please?"
"You mean Ms Potts? She and Mr Stark are not married yet"
"Wait, they're not?"
"Not yet no."

"Oh… OK"

"What's wrong? Did we miscalculate?"
"No, it's fine"

"OK, what are your names?"

"I'm Benedict Wong, and as for these two… you wouldn't believe me if I told you"

"All right, let me call Ms Potts."

Pepper 2016's point of view

"Ms Potts?"
"Bambi? Is everything OK?"
"You have a visitor… his name is Benedict Wong, and he has two teenage girls with him. I think they might be twins… and I think they're possibly from the future because he said I wouldn't believe him if he told me who the girls are"

"All right, show them in"

Wong's point of view

We went to Pepper's office.

"Ms Potts, I need you to listen very carefully to me."

"OK"
"My name is Benedict Wong, I am from the year 2023. These are your twin daughters"

"WHAT?" she yelped… "Tony and I aren't married yet! We haven't even discussed… us having… biological… kids. Tony has two already, Peter is 15 right now and Maria is 9."

"I don't mean to be disrespectful Ms Potts… but maybe you should get Mr Stark down here and let us explain things to him? I'm not implying that you're not intelligent in any way. It's just easier if we bring him up to speed at the same time."
"How do I know if you're telling the truth"

"Hulk turned Loki into bug-squash upstairs on the residential floor 4 years ago."

"OK… what else"
"You and Mr Stark took a break, right after the Mandarin."
"You didn't approve of him continuing to be Iron Man and you were greatly offended by him suggesting that he build you a suit, you had a big argument, and you moved in with your cousin Shane."

"Does he build me one in the future?"
"Yes, it's blue and gold, and you look cool in it. You're known as Rescue. You joined the Avengers for the final battle against Thanos… which happened yesterday in our time… and you and Dad didn't survive"

"Oh"
"That's why we came back. Tony probably hasn't told you this yet, but the team is in turmoil. The Avengers broke up because of Thaddeus Ross and the Sokovia Accords. One of the things you agreed on was that you would keep discussions in the office about business only."

A handsome man with short curly dark brown hair and enormous chocolate brown eyes came bouncing down the stairs. A folder tucked under his arm. He knocked on the door and slipped his head around the frame.

"Pep? I finished my paperwork"

"OK… good"

"Are you OK? You look a little pale"
I cleared my throat.

"Wong, you old rascal, what are you doing here and who are the kids?"
"Tony, I'm not the Wong you know, I am from the future. And… these are your daughters from the future."

"Who's their mom?"
"Me"

*THUD*

Tony's point of view

I could feel someone slapping my face.

Then I heard the words "Accio bucket… aguamenti maxima" the contents of said bucket hit me in the face.

"Are you OK? Do I need to get Maria?"
"No"

"You look dreadful, Tony"
"I'm sure you didn't look much better when you learned you have 11-year-old twins!"

"No, she didn't, but she didn't faint either."

"Do we know your names?"
"I'm Meg — Margaret Elizabeth Stark — named after your mom. I couldn't pronounce that properly when I was little, so I became Meg. Until I could say M properly, I was egg!"
"I'm Morgan. My full name is Morgan Antonia, but no one calls me that unless I'm in trouble."

"When's your birthday?"
"May 29th… we were supposed to be born on June 7th, by planned c-section, but mom went into labour and the surgeon was on vacation, so we were born at home instead."

"Mom almost bled out because she laboured for 16 hours. Fortunately, you and Uncle Bruce had been preparing for every emergency possible, and you handled it"
"Wait… Uncle Bruce?"
"Yes… Bruce Banner"
"Where is he?"
"Sakaar"
"Where's that?"
"It's a planet, near Asgard"
"Asgard? Isn't that where Thor is from?"
"Yes"

"Mr Wong, we're going to need both Bruce and Thor"

"Bruce won't react well to Ross. In fact he will turn green and the Hulk will turn Ross into bug-squash!"
"I know, but we need him. He needs to understand what happened to the team and we need his help to fix it."
"You need to tell Pepper everything about The Avengers Civil War."
"There are no Avengers any more… not since I learned that that bastard I called uncle from the time I was 9 months old… knew that my parents had been taken to Wakanda"

"Tony, this is important, OK… Thanos is coming. He sent Loki."
"Shit!"
"That's what you said when you figured out the time heist"
"What?"
"Thanos wins in our time… you and Mom died. The team were too busy squabbling to notice Meg and I sneaking out to Aunt Hermione's and while I kept her distracted with my gymnastics, Meg sneaked into her office and got her time turner… Dr Strange was going to bring us, but I didn't trust him, so we asked Mr Wong."

"Well, that was smart. Strange showed his true colours."
"We get one do-over and that's it"

"OK, what do we need to do?"
"First, you and mom need to make her a suit"

"OK… let me get your measurements Pep, then I can go upstairs and have Friday build it"

"You need to hire Wanda, Pietro, and Vision"
"They supervise Peter and Maria's education…"

"Did Flash get dealt with properly?"
"Yes"
"Did you know Peter is Spider-man?"
"Yes"

"Where's the burner phone?"
"In my locked drawer in my desk upstairs."

"Pepper, call your godfather and tell him his best friend made a mistake and Arkham isn't a school, it's an asylum. He needs to get Constance out of there ASAP."

While Meg helped me measure Pepper. Morgan and Wong went upstairs to get the burner phone.

"We need to contact Hank Pym… he believes Janet died in the Quantum Realm, but she didn't"
"OK…"

"He doesn't realise that Cross is trying to take over the company. He doesn't realise what danger Hope is in."

"Is Scott Lang on house arrest?"
"I'm not sure"

"All right, there's a mission we must complete, and we are going to have to move very fast. You need to have everyone come here from wherever they are? We can explain everything and defeat Thanos."

We worked quickly, I finished Pepper's suit while Jay spoke to Rogers and while Pepper dealt with Hank and Hope.
