Libby was sitting in her room one night reading a book. When she heard her mom yell

"Libby, sweetie, can you take out the garbage?" Leah asked.

Libby yelled back "Sure Mom"

She put down her book and went to take out the garbage. It was already dark outside, around 9:23 pm. As Libby was heading towards the dumpster, she heard some flapping in the wind. She looked up in surprise and saw a Bat on the roof of one of the buildings. It seemed to be looking down on her. Libby kept walking on and little spooked. she turned down the alley next to her home and walked down. She heard the flapping of the Bat's wings again. She turned the looked up again. The Bat had followed her. Wanting to just get this over with and get back inside, she continued on to the dumpsters in the alley. She had just put the trash bag in the dumpster when she suddenly felt a bite on her neck. In her mind, she was panicking but her body remained completely still. She was paralysed, she wanted to hit whatever was biting her off and run away but she couldn't move. She felt her heart beating out of her chest, she felt an overwhelming sense of panic and fear. Whatever was biting her, it seemed to be sucking on the bite wound. After a while, Libby started to feel drowsy. She started slipping into unconsciousness. Then it all went black.

Libby woke up a few hours later in a daze. She was in her bed. Did she dream it? No, she still felt a bit of pain on her neck. She felt the right side of her neck and she felt the wound. She looked at her clock, it read 3:24 am. It had been 6 hours since she went to take out the garbage. She looked around her room and saw a figure standing at her doorway. Libby was freaked out. It had an unnatural feel to it, was it a Ghost? Some other kind of supernatural spirit?

"You're finally awake? Good" he said in a male voice.

In the blink of an eye, he was now sitting on Libby's bed. He looked like a normal man. He had tanned skin and black hair. he wore a black leather jacket, black jeans and had a necklace with some kind of symbol she didn't recognise on it.

Libby spoke "Who-"

The man put his finger over Libby's mouth "Shhh, let me explain."

he took his finger off her lips and said "First of all, I am a Vampire, and now so are you. I'll give you a moment to take that in" There was a moment of awkward silence between them.

Libby then spoke, "Yeah I umm, I kind of figured."

The man then casually said "Not the reaction I was expecting but I'll roll with it. My name is Cole, I was the Bat you saw in that alleyway and the one who Embraced you"

"I, I'm Libby," Libby said nervously.

Cole then stood up and said "Nice to meet you Libby, I am your Sire and you are my fledgling, I'm pretty much your Vampire dad. As is tradition a sire must teach their fledgling everything they need to know about being a Vampire."

Libby grabbed a notepad and got ready to take notes

Cole then explained to Libby "First things first, abilities. First, the obvious: Immortality, no reflections, turning into a Bat, super strength etc. Now the weirder ones Vampires commonly have: Turning into a wolf, weather control, riding moonbeams, that's a weird one ain't it? and seeing in the dark. Any questions?"

Libby quickly finished her notes.

"I have a lot but, do I need to, you know, kill people now?" Libby asked

Cole chuckled "If you want? But most Vampires don't need more than 2 or 3 bags of blood a day. So you don't have to kill. Even then, you can just eat animals. You can do that if you want, but it's up to you."

"Got it, so, now what?" Libby asked

"Alright, now the weaknesses, We can't go into other people's houses unless invited, we're allergic to garlic, we are weaker in the sun but it doesn't kill us, we're burned by holy symbols as well as some others I can't remember right now," Cole explained

Libby wrote all that down too. Then a thought entered her mind

"W, wait, how did you get in my room if you have to be invited in?" Libby asked.

"Your mom invited me in, a lovely lady by the way," Cole said

"Wait, my mom knows I'm a Vampire now?" Libby said

"No, I kept that part a secret. As far as she knows you collapsed outside and I'm just a kind stranger who picked you up and brought you home." Cole tole Libby.

Libby figured that made sense.

"You know, you're being weirdly casual about the whole "Vampires are real" thing. Most Vampires freak out when they're first Embraced. Why are you so calm?" Cole asked Libby.

"w, well, I kind of have some experience with the Supernatural. I've met quite a few Ghosts so Vampires aren't too out there for me. I mean, I kind of figured that, if Ghosts exist, why not other supernatural creatures? You Know?" Libby said

Coles shrugged and said "Yeah makes sense. The supernatural becomes less freaky the more you experience it. Anyway, I could take you to have your first drink of blood, or we could do that later, up to you?"

Libby looked at him. He seems less scary now that Libby knows who and what he is. Libby looked at the clock "4:04 am" Libby did not feel tired at all. She decided to give it a shot. After all, she was a Vampire now, she'd have to get used to drinking blood at some point.

"Well, I guess it's alright, but I don't want to drink a Human, can I just go for an animal?" Libby asked

Cole shrugged again and said "Fine by me, most new Vampires have trouble eating Humans. It takes a while for them to get comfortable with it. Let's go"

He opened the window and turned into a Bat. Libby walked up to the window and looked out at the night sky.

Cole flew back and said "Oh right you can't do this yet. Try sneaking out of your house, but don't wake your mom, she still thinks you're Human. I'll be waiting at your front door"

Libby nodded and headed out. She tried her best not to make noise as she snuck out of her own House. She opened the door and saw Cole standing by her door.

Cole smiled at Libby and said, "About time, what do you fancy, Lib?"

Libby said, "Uh, what?"

"What animal do you want to eat? You said you wanted an animal?" Cole said.

Libby then asked "D, does it make a difference? Isn't Blood blood?"

Cole chuckled "No, Blood from different animals have different tastes, the different types of blood have different types as well. Humans taste the best, that's why most Vampires go for them. But what animal do you want to try?"

Libby was nervous, she didn't quite know how to answer.

She asked, "Uhh, what do you recommend?"

"Me? I prefer Humans, but eating a Human can be a little overwhelming for a Fledgling like yourself, so let's try a small animal first. There are some rats in the alleyway by your house. You wanna go with those?" Cole said

Libby said, "Uhh, sure."

Cole started walking to the alley next to Libby's home. The same one she was bitten in. While walking down there she noticed a large bloodstain next to the dumpster. In the exact spot where she was bitten.

"Uhh, is that my Blood?" Libby asked

Cole then said "Yep, I got a little overzealous and I spilled a bit. That was my bad, Lib."

Libby just followed him, a little unnerved. They got to the middle of the alley. Some rats were scurrying about, Cole moved at an unnatural speed and grabbed one. It was struggling and trying to escape.

He offered it to Libby and said "Here ya go, Lib. Just bite into it and the rest should come naturally to you"

Libby grabbed the Rat with both hands. She looked at it struggling and trying to escape. She held it by the head and tail. She opened her mouth and her canines extended out. She sunk her fangs into the Rat and began drinking. She could feel the warm blood go into her mouth, going down her throat. She felt a sense of adrenalin and dopamine as she did it. She kept drinking until she was basically sucking on a dry artery. When she was done she dropped the Rat. There was a bit of blood on her bottom lip.

Cole then asked, "So, how was it?"

Libby looked at him and thought for a moment.

Libby said "I, I kind of liked it. I mean, I'm a Vampire now so that would make sense, I guess."

"Yep, you're a blood-sucking creature of the night now so Blood is your new favourite food" Cole said.

Cole looked at his watch and said "Well, I have to be going now, just a few more things before I leave, as a Vampire you can eat Human food but it won't fill you up like before, you only need to sleep for like 4 hours a night now and you can never ever tell anyone about being a Vampire. That is a big secret, got it?"

Libby then said "Wait, can I tell my friend Molly? She already knows about the Supernatural?"

Cole looked at her suspiciously, then said, "She isn't a Hunter is she?"

Libby said, "No, not at all she loves the supernatural."

Cole smiled and said, "Then it's alright, as long as you make her swear to never tell anyone, ever."

"Of course" Libby replied

Cole then said "I'm serious, you cannot tell anybody about being a Vampire. Since Molly already knows she'll probably figure it out but that is where it stops. Nobody else can know, ever. You need to make her promise not to tell anyone, ever. Got it?"

Libby looked at him, he had a more serious look on his face.

"Loud and clear" Libby said.

Cole said, "Great, I'll introduce you to the other Vampires tomorrow night, for now just make sure you don't get caught."

"Other Vampires?" Libby asked.

Cole chuckled and said "I'll explain tomorrow. See ya"

Cole then turned into a Bat and flew away. Libby went back up to her bedroom and laid on her bed. Libby wasn't sleepy, she was still kind of processing this. Yeah, she kind of figured that Vampires probably exist, but she never thought she'd ever be one. There was still so much she didn't know, if Ghosts and Vampires exist, who knows what else does? But that was the least of her problems. She was now a Vampire, an undead creature who drinks blood. She still has so much to learn about being one and it's probably not going to be easy. She has a lot of work ahead of her. If she's going to begin this new stage of her unlife, she's going to need Molly's help. Luckily, tomorrow is Sunday so she can go to Molly's house and tell her everything. For now, she should rest and deal with all that in the morning.
