I groaned upon waking up. I immediately felt nervousness climb my body. It was the UA entrance exams. I didn't know how I would fare in it. Or how Kirishima and Ashido would. But damnit I'd try to do well. I climbed out of bed and grabbed my phone. Perfect it was six in the morning. I had time for breakfast and a shower along with a walk.

I grabbed a tracksuit I'd wear for the exams and left my room, "Might as well see what they're up to," I clicked on discord and went to one of the few groups I was in. I also quickly grabbed my clay pouch. Couldn't forget that.

Artist: Hello? Is anyone up now or do I need to drag you out of your houses so we can get breakfast?

Alien Queen: We're up, we're up don't worry blasty we're already coming to your apartment anyways.

RedRiot: Yeah don't worry about us! We're awake already.

Artist: Good. I'll be ready in a few minutes. How far are you two?

Alien Queen: We see your building already blasty! We'll be there in three minutes.

Artist: Nice. I'll be ready in five.

Alien Queen: You better be! We don't want to miss the 6:30 breakfast rush at the cafe.

Artist: We won't.

I closed Discord and nodded. No time for a shower then I guess. Eh I don't smell bad right now. I quickly put on my tracksuit and clay pouch. It had been an odd five months since I had discovered what my quirk truly was. I truly met Ashido and Kirishima and sorta befriended them. We trained for five months vigorously. I had to make sure they actually trained and didn't get distracted, "I'll look back fondly in a few years though," Kirishima helped me build muscle mass and Ashido helped me be more agile. Both were pretty scary in their own rights. I helped them with their quirks and how to improve them.

Speaking of quirks. Mine was a strange one.

I figured out a few functions of it and how it worked. The saliva glands in my hands mouths secreted Nitroglycerin. Which is highly unstable. Clay contains it and stabilizes it until I will the Nitroglycerin to explode. Because of this my body has built a resistance to the explosions and their effects. The main things in an explosions effects were: A burst of force, heat, sound, and light. Force so my arms don't accidentally break from an accidental explosion, heat so I don't burn myself, sound so I don't go deaf, and light so I don't go blind.

This is a major bonus for me. The major question was how far could I take this? I couldn't survive higher powered explosions like the stuff you see in movies. So I needed to train my resistance. But this gives me a lot of things to do. I can fight in close quarters now without risk of hurting myself unless I need to go big.

My art was powerful and I loved it but I knew there were side effects to it. It could destroy just as much as it helps. So this is a good thing in my eyes. I can fight and reduce damage to people and property.

Also, my art could be shaped into a lot of things. Clay is a good medium for my nitroglycerin for example. But I can use more liquid like things too. Like Oobleck. But not complete liquids like water. I was still trying to figure out how to stabilize it in the water. Once I did that would open up so many more doors.

*Knock, knock, knock*

Good, they were here.

I opened the door, "I got ready in three,"

Ashido grinned, as did Kirishima, "Good lets go Blasty!"

I sighed, "When will you stop calling me Blasty?"

Kirishima pat my shoulder, "Its a term of endearment... It sticks," Damnit I knew he was right. Ashido liked to give nicknames to her friends. I was deemed blasty because of my explosions. At least it wasn't Sparky.

Mina grin widened, "I'll stop when you stop blasting,"

I mock glared, "I'd never give up my beautiful art and you know it!"

She waved me off, "Yeah, yeah now lets go I'm starving!" I quickly locked up my apartment and left with the duo.

It was strange being friends with people again. Its been what? 4 years? 5 years? 6 even? I didn't know. But they didn't judge my hand mouths. They thought they were cool. Especially once they learned they could make explosions without the clay.

They asked a lot of questions about what I could do and what I could make that got me thinking. What could I do? "Say Blasty have you figured out how to fly yet?"

Flight. One of the many things I wished to achieve with my art. I had tried making bigger creatures with my clay. I could do it but it required a lot of focus to fly so it wasn't worth it at the moment. So we looked into other avenues, "No not yet. Although I have ideas,"

"Tell us bro!" Kirishima had the bright idea of making clay wings before. That hurt.

I put my hand to my chin, "SHould I though? I mean we could be temporary enemies in the exam and then you'd know something I could possibly do," I was joking of course. I'd tell them. I don't have any method of flight yet sadly.

"Yes tell us!" Both whined.

I laughed, "Okay okay, Well I have the idea of just using plain nitroglycerin as a way to fly. Ignite it mid air somehow without my clay and use it to propel me," It was simple. But it had merit. Like the idea of using Nitroglycerin solo as minature blasts in fights. Worked like a charm and I'm sure Ashido still has that bruise. Kirishima almost broke my foot however and we discovered he was blast resitant that day.

Ashido grinned, "So kinda like your fighting style but for flight!"

I nodded, "Yeah,"

Ashido was about to speak up again when Kirishima stopped, "We're here!"

I grinned. I was saved.

The written test was difficult. If I were to fail anything it'd be this. If not at least Gen-ed was going to take me as I applied to it just in case I failed the hero course. Never hurt to have a backup plan. I sighed upon looking at my test.

Every answer was long and well thought out. Like every question. I didn't want to fail. So I figured I'd be as thorough as possible.

Pretty much they were about the basic kinds of knowledge. Math, History, and Science. English was also there but not as prevalent because many were likely to fail. Ironically English was the one subject I was confident I'd pass because I had to learn it to watch old Western movies. Not literally. But the movies from the two thousands. My favorite movies were the ones with a lot of explosions though.

Anyways there was also the general hero Knowledge that everyone knows like "Who is the greatest Hero?" Or "Who has gone on the most "missions" in the past 5 years," Okay that last one might not be common knowledge but I knew it.

Then there was the advanced stuff. Like, "What is All mights quirk?" Or "What are the logistics of a hero turning villain or vigilante?" Those were harder but I had my theories and statistics.

The test had been relatively simple but not too easy. I had a feeling I'd pass for sure but I wouldn't know. I did see my friends were struggling but I knew they would pass.

I drilled all the knowledge I could into their skulls. It wasn't easy because they were both more social and punchy people then learning people. It amazed me they had B's. But anyways I damn well knew they would get past this.

All in all I felt like everything was going to be fine.

Everything was not fine.

So we were fighting robots. Giant robots. It was, excuse my french here: Bullshit. Okay, I get it UA has a fucking incredible budget. But why Giant robots when some people don't have quirks catered to beating the robots? I have one that can but if I didn't discover what I could do before the exams I would never have passed.

I looked around and saw a few people I recognized from the written exam and the warning before the practical. A kid with glasses and exhaust pipes coming out of his legs, a boy with green curly hair whom he was scolding, and a purple haired kid who looked like he was going to fall asleep any minute now. He looked saddened. He likely had a quirk not catered toward the exams.

I sighed and slapped myself a bit to keep myself calm, "Think about yourself. Not others," I couldn't afford to lose focus now. Gen-ed would be a good place for them until the sports festival. Yeah.

I watched as the gates began to count down until their opening. "Three, Two, One," The countdown stopped and the massive gates opened. A fake city was seen and it looked huge. I began walking at a leisurely pace. I put my hands in my clay pouch and began chewing some clay. Small birds were very effective and very cost-effective.

I watched as robots appeared and were destroyed by people. I sent out a few birds to go take some points.

There was many things in life that I was. I was an artist, an aspiring hero, and someone who had a cool quirk. But I didn't have a death wish. I had to survive so I could hopefully get enough points to pass. I had to keep calm unlike these people who were running like chickens that just got their head cut off.

It was strange really. They were all overthinking it. All of them were going to make mistakes. I sighed, "What a shame. Overthinking this might stop them from making it," I looked over to a crowd of people who were trying to destroy robots and failing. They're quirks weren't combat suited.

I sighed. It was dumb that they didn't get another exam with a less combat suited test. Some quirks were more rescue or support oriented. Those people deserved a chance to pass. Idly I made another clay bird. I willed it to go explode the robots legs.

*Boom!*

The robots legs were destroyed with ease. I saw them recoil in shock and look back at me. It was a crowd of seven people, "What did you do and why didn't you steal it from us?" The purple haired kid from before narrowed his eyes.

I smiled, "Just trying to help others through this bullshit exam. Now turn it off before some asshat comes along and takes it," I had no idea if it was allowed for me to do this. Probably not but hey I didn't see any clause stating I couldn't help others... Just a few minutes ago I was thinking about how I couldn't help them. Damnit.

The boy promptly pressed the button on the back of the robot and looked at me, "Thanks I guess dude," His face then soured, "Are you pitying us?"

I shook my head, "I used to only have hands with mouths on them for a quirk. I don't feel pity. I feel anger toward this test. Come with me, all of you and I'll help you try to get in by disabling them," That shut the boy up real fast and they all nodded. They were all surprised. It was priceless.

I began walking away toward other robots and destroying their legs. Snaging a few for myself. They followed me and turned off the robots. All of us were getting an equal amount of points it seemed.

Eventually, we cleared out the area we were in I wiped the sweat off of my face and looked at my clay pouch. Almost empty. Enough for one more good blast though, "Alright I'm almost tapped out. We need to go for some more stealthy takedowns soon," I decided I'd be damned if I let any of these guys fail.

The leader of the kids with crappy quirks. The purpleette nodded, "Okay. Do you have any idea of what we can do? Or do you have anything else that's explosive"

I nodded, "Yeah. Hide and hope for the best. I do have the base explosive component of my quirk but its highly unstable and it likely won't be of use in long range,"

The purplette nodded, "Okay then can you tell us what to do about that?" He pointed and suddenly a very large robot was seen. The legendary Zero pointer.

I gulped and everyone else did too, 'We need to run' My first thoughts were reflective of how I felt. The purplette was also terrified but it didn't look like he'd be running anytime soon. I was ready to grab him and turn tail and run but... I saw someone running toward the Zero pointer. The Green haired guy from before. He was running toward someone. Some girl with brown hair. She was trapped.

I looked toward the Purplette. "You gonna go or are you gonna help?" I had enough clay to maybe stall the Zero pointer. To possibly help them. What could he do?

The purplette looked at me like I was insane, "Are you dumb? That thing will get us killed!"

I glared, "I want to be a hero. Heroes help others no matter what. Are you a hero or are you here for the fame, fortune, and status that comes with the title?" Damned if he is, damned if he isn't. The boy recoiled at my glare.

Before we could do anything the green-haired boy jumped into the air and punched the Zero pointer. The entire thing caved in. and it was destroyed, "I think he's got this,"

I shook my head, "He's going to fall to his death if we don't help," I began chewing all the clay I had left with my left hand and I began running toward the falling boy. I saw the brown-haired girl jump into the air after him to catch him. Shrapnel would get in her way.

I created three low-powered clay birds, "Destroy the shrapnel! Be quick about it," I looked at the purplette, "Get ready to catch them just in case," He nodded stiffly and ran over to catch them. I saw the girl look at the clay birds curiously as they basically ate shrapnel for her.

The boy was slapped mid-air. He was now floating. This now had the issue of how to get him the fuck down. I looked to the purplette, "Use your clay birds!" I nodded and the birds began carrying the Greenette down.

I wiped the sweat off of my head, "Are you okay?" I noticed his arm and his legs looked like complete shit. It wasn't pretty. His arm and legs were purple and contorted in ways they shouldn't be, "We need to get you to a hospital or a medical professional quickly," That is when the horns signifying the end of the test blasted off.

It was over, "I think I'll be fine," The boy was clearly stubborn.

I shook my head, "No you are not. Now we need to get you both to a medical professional actually," I looked at the Brown haired girl as I said that.

Damnit I wished Ashido and Kirishima were here to help.

"So you think you passed?"

I nodded at Kirishima's question, "I'm not that confident as I did spend a lot of my time helping people power off the robots but I think I'll get in, How about you two?" It had been a day since the end of the exams. The results came in six more days. We were nervous.

Kirishima grinned, "I think I did well. Although the written test was a bit hard,"

Ashido nodded, "Yeah the written test was a pain but the practical was easy. I melted a lot of robots. How about you? You mentioned you helped some people. What do you mean by that?" She looked to me when she said that.

I rubbed the back of my head, "I kinda helped some people without quirks suited to destroy the robots get some points. I kinda used up a lot of clay doing so. But I think I got in," I hoped I did. If I fucked up it had to be during the practical for helping other examinees.

Both nodded Kirishima put his hand in the air then back down before he could make a hand motion, "Its very manly of you to help others but don't you think it might have been against the rules?"

I nodded, "Maybe but I don't regret anything. The exams are catered toward people with stronger, more combat oriented quirks. But there are plenty of people who have made great heroes without combat oriented quirks. So I figured I'd help them because they deserved that chance,"

Ashido grinned, "How sweet of you. I knew you'd do something like that," She then looked to Kirishima who handed her 2,622 yen with a sad sigh, "Thanks, Kiri. Alright, I think I can get us all something nice to snack on before we head home. So c'mon lets go!" I laughed at that. Of course they had a fucking bet going on.

I grinned and Kirishima lightened up. I wanted a donut!

Alright we're back. I decided to skip to the entrance exams. It kinda made sense and lets be honest. Who wants 5 to 10 chapters of meaningless bullshit that can be summarized in a few paragraphs? Anyways next chapter is UA time.

I'm excited because this chapter reinvigorated my passion for this fic. I got to write MC-kun helping others. I wasn't very descriptive with the entrance exams because quite frankly they're the same in every fic. UA is where things change.

I still need to decide who goes where and how I can make things work. Also, who do I yeet from the hero course to house Shinsou and Katsu? Yes I plan on Shinsou going to the hero course. He gets in. But he will be important here. I damn well will be sure of it. I'm thinking of a 1-B MC or a 1-B Shinsou. Both could be interesting and its a way to get more 1-B characters relevant.

I don't plan on making a few people important but they'll all have a role to play.

Anyways, see yall later. Stalk out!
