For the next hour, Judy had her face pushed to the surface of the vanity by a bear as Fru Fru applied blush, lipstick, eye shadow, mascara, and some kind of expensive perfume to her. She then had the bear push Judy into a walk-in closet with clothes and wouldn't let her out until she put them on.
At that point, Judy didn't need the blush. Her dress was red and puffy at the bottom with black heels and tights and a black onyx crystal was clipped to an ear. She crossed her arms and glared at Fru Fru. "I'm not enjoying this."
"Now for the finishing touch!" Judy yelped as a wig was shoved on her head with a hairstyle just like Fru Fru's. She looked at herself in the vanity mirror.
"No! I am not wearing this in public!"
"I think you should hear what your beau says first."
"My..." Judy was cut off by voices in the hall.
"But I still don't understand why you called me here if I'm not..." The door swung open, and Nick stepped in dressed in a white button-down covered in black vest and slacks. He cut off when he saw Judy staring at him in shock. "...dying?" The two stared for a few seconds. "Carrots, you look..."
"Ridiculous?"
"Amazing. I never knew you cleaned up so nice. Well, except for the hair."
Judy smiled. "Thanks. You look nice, too."
Nick looked at his watch. "We should probably get going." He held out an arm. "Shall we go, ma' lady?"
Judy took his arm and the polar bear drove them to the club in one of the limos, which gave them a few glances when they arrived. Judy ended up taking off the wig since it got in the way of her ears, but decided to keep the clothes and make-up on, just out of respect for her god-family.
After a night of drinking and dancing and calling cabs for friends that had a little too much, Nick walked Judy back to her apartment. "I really had a good night, Carrots. You looked beautiful dancing."
"Thanks, Nick." Judy sighed. "Would you like to come in?"
"No, I better get back to my place before the landlord starts looking for me. If I'm not home by a certain time, he takes it upon himself to find me and make sure I'm not relapsing."
"Okay then." Judy frowned. "Goodnight, Nick."
"Goodnight, Judy."
"Hey, I had a good night, too. Would you like to go out again sometime?"
Nick put on his signature smirk. "Miss Big-Shot-Cop, are you asking me on a date?"
"It's not a date, just a good time with a good friend."
"Well, in that case, I'll say no, but I'd like to counter and ask you something." Nick bent down on one knee. "Will go on a date with me, Judy?"
Judy was glad her cheeks were covered in fur. The way Nick was smiling and staring at her hopefully gave her butterflies. "Yes."
